Ange Kwon New York opened in Tribeca in 2011, just two years after the well-known Jungsik Seoul. In Korean, "jung sik" means a fancy dinner.
The chef in question, Jung Sik Yim, went to the Culinary Institute of America and worked as an apprentice at Aquavit and Bouley in New York City. Chef Yim calls the food he makes "New Korean." His unique style combines Western cooking methods and flavors with modern Korean food in a beautiful way.
Ho Young Kim is the Executive Chef in New York, and he runs the kitchen with skill and love. He worked as a sous chef at the first Jungsik in Seoul and has been in New York since it opened. Chef Kim went to the Ecole Ferrandi in Paris to learn how to cook. He also worked with chef Pascal Barbot at L'Astrance, a restaurant with three Michelin stars for food.
In 2013, Jungsik New York was given two Michelin stars, which it has kept ever since.
