What is the Squid Game alarm clock?
A clock based on Netflix’s Squid Game has gone viral for its unforgiving wake-up alarm.
The concept piece is based on the animatronic doll featured in the show’s first episode, where contestants play the traditional Korean children’s game Red Light Green Light. The clock fires soft pellets – instead of actual bullets – at nearby sleepers once the alarm is triggered.
Fan’s reaction The video however has still ignited fear on social media. One user on Twitter wrote: “Well this is straight up the scariest thing ever.” Another wrote: “Looks like I’ve got an early front runner for my Secret Santa gift.” The concept for the Squid Game alarm clock quickly went viral, despite not being a real product yet. Fans of the series responded in delight to the concept of the product. “That is EPIC! lol,” one person Tweeted. “Where can I get one,” asked another. Still, it’s hard to deny that the alarm clock is pretty creepy. “Well this is straight up the scariest thing ever,” one person Tweeted. For those fans who loved the alarm clock, hopefully, the product will be available for purchase soon. |
How much is the Squid Game alarm clock and where to buy?
The clock itself isn’t available for purchase and only exists in a 3D concept video, shared on Instagram by creators Gaspar.3d and Nanvo.
A miniature version of the doll now comes in the form of an alarm clock, and for only $42 on Amazon. When the alarm goes off, theme music starts to play - then the doll’s head opens up, turns in your direction, and shoots out a pellet.
The item available for preorder and set to ship out in mid-November, just in time for the holiday season.
It’s popularity really comes down to a long-standing fascination with the idea of gamifying survival. There is even now an actual IRL tournament (though not as deadly, obviously) happening in Abu Dhabi. And for those less intrigued in the game but fascinated by the aesthetic, there is an AirBnB that looks very similar to the Squid Game HQ. But those hoping to get their hands on the alarm clock will just have to wait until it is put into production which, let’s face it, can’t be far off.
Why did ‘Squid Game’ doll who killed hundreds of players become so hot?

In the first episode of Squid Game, 456 desperate people agree to play games in the hopes of taking home an enormous cash prize. What they don’t know from the beginning is that the punishment for losing the games is death. The first game is Red Light, Green Light.
A large doll equipped with a sniper rifle sings a creepy song during the game. If the doll whips around and detects motion in any of the players, they are shot. This first game results in the deaths of over 200 players.
The giant, terrifying "Red Light, Green Light" doll from Netflix's Squid Game is real, and you can find her standing guard a few hours south of Seoul, South Korea.
The imposing Squid Game doll stands tall near the entrance of Macha Land, a museum that displays horse carriages. According to village locals, this was the doll's original home before the Squid Game production team temporarily borrowed it for shooting. After they finished filming, the team returned the doll to its post in Jincheon County, which can be reached by taking a car or bus about 2-3 hours south from Seoul.
In an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, HoYeon Jung, who plays Kang Sae-Byeok, explained what the doll is based on. “When we were at school, there were characters, one is a boy and one is the girl. The boy’s name was Cheolsoo and the girl’s name was Younghee. And she’s the one,” said HoYeon, pointing to a picture of the Squid Game doll. The doll was based on a character from Korean textbooks.
