Yellowstone Season 4: Possible Release Date, Plot, Casts & How to Watch Previous Seasons

Yellowstone's most recent finale may have left the fate of a number of cast members up in the air, but there is good news for fans—Season 4 has already been ordered by the Paramount Network. In fact, filming has already begun on the new season, meaning the show should be able to make its usual release date. The finale of the show also set up a number of major plot points for the next season of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone Season 4: Possible release date

So far, all three previous seasons of Yellowstone have been released in mid-June, and it is likely that the release date of Season 4 will also be that month. Based on the release date of those previous seasons, Yellowstone Season 4's likely release date will be Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Though many TV shows have seen filming on their new seasons delayed by the coronavirus, Yellowstone Season 4 is being filmed in a ranch in Montana, far from anywhere where there is a major virus risk, and the cast and crew are quarantining together to prevent an outbreak. Shooting began on August 21, as confirmed by star Forrie J Smith on Instagram, Newsweek noted.

Although some fans are concerned that Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes are leaving the show, it seems like the entire Yellowstone crew is on board for the fourth season. Costner, who plays John Dutton and executive produces the show, remains the backbone of the series. In the past, he's said that filming a scripted how "hasn't been an easy adjustment" for him, but he's committed because he believes Yellowstone has "gold dust on it."

Unless they decide to writeoff any characters, it seems like Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Forrie J. Smith, and Denim Richards will return for a fourth season, too. Only time will tell if newcomers Josh Holloway, John Emmet Tracey, Q’orianka Kilcher, and Jennifer Landon will survive the chaos on Dutton family ranch, Goodhousekeeping noted.

Season 4 of 'Yellowstone' will continue the story forward from the events of Season 3. The Paramount show tells the gritty story of a Montana family that finds itself and its generational land under threat from enemies. From land developers to builders to the Native American Reservation, everyone wants a piece (or all) of Yellowstone to themselves. But the Dutton patriarch John will do anything and everything to keep that from happening, Newsbreak added.

If you're late to the game, you can re-watch past seasons to familiarize yourself with the Dutton family. If you have cable, head to Paramount Network's website to stream all the previous episodes. But if you recently cut the cable cord to save money or just want to avoid commercials, you can buy each episode on iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, Google Play, or Vudu. The show isn't available on Hulu or Netflix, and it looks like it won't be any time soon: Yellowstone landed an exclusive streaming deal at NBC's new streaming service, Peacock.
