An American fantasy show produced by Tom Kapinos which premiered on Fox in early 2016 is set to launch Lucifer’s final season which is said to be eight episodes long. It’s a live adaptation of DC comics eponymous character fallen angel. The season 6 is set to release in 2021 or 2022.
A quick recap journey of everything to season 6. After a massive fan campaign Netflix revived the show from Fox, as they had discontinued the series. The season 4 premiered on Netflix on May 8th,2019 before that it could be only watched on Fox.
The season 5 part one was aired on netflix in 2020 but the wait for part 2 still continues as Netflix has already unveiled the January 2021 releases and Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 can’t be seen on the list.
When was Lucifer season 6 announced?
Lucifer season 6 was announced in June by the show's bosses.
In a tweet, Netflix teased: "The devil made us do it. #Lucifer will return for a sixth and final season. Like, FINAL final."
Naturally, much excitement ensued, alongside some tears about the fact it really would be over after that.
When will Lucifer season 6 be released?
The final season of Lucifer started filming right off the back of season 5, meaning there was no rest for the crew.
In October co-showrunner Joe Henderson tweeted: "Today is our first day of shooting #Lucifer season 6!
"So happy we've finished up season 5, and we will be working our buns off to get it finished and to Netflix! Thanks to our incredible cast and crew for working hard and safe and delivering a kickass finale!!"
We're likely to have to wait a while for the sixth instalment to air, though.
Netflix Is Reporetedly In Talks With Warner About More Lucifer
After all, season 5 part 2 is still yet to land on screens, after delays due to the pandemic.
That's expected to be arriving in April, or maybe even this month all going well (watch this space). So, for this reason, it's likely season 6 won't be hitting screens until the end of this year at best, according to Tyla.
Lucifer season six plot

The plot of season six remains firmly under wraps for now, but showrunners Joe Henderson and Idly Modrovich have revealed that having the extra episodes have given them the opportunity to "really explore how our characters end up where they ended up".
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Joe said: "It's the story we were always going to tell, but just written much larger and to me so much more interestingly. It breaks my heart to think we weren't going to do it this way."
Meanwhile, the writing team behind the show have also been keeping 'Lucifans' entertained during the midseason hiatus by teasing upcoming episode titles on the official Lucifer Writer's Room Twitter account.
Their latest clue revealed that the penultimate episode will be titled 'Goodbye, Lucifer', which has - quite understandably - sent viewers into a spin. "I'm not ready!!" one fan tweeted back in response, Hellomagazine reported.
Lucifer Season 6 Will Explore the 'Deep Love' Between Lucifer and Maze, Says StarOver the past four and a half seasons of Lucifer, Lesley-Ann Brandt has played Mazikeen, a demon who accompanied Tom Ellis's Lucifer out of Hell and has had to adjust to the world of the living. Although their relationship has been volatile, Brandt describes Lucifer and Maze as "best friends," and has revealed that this will be a focus in the show's final season. Brandt talked about her character on Saturday in a live Q&A session on StageIt. Asked to choose a theme song for Maze, she quoted lyrics from "A Case of You" by Diana Krall and likened them to "the love between Maze and Lucifer." Maze was a part of the show from its first episode, in which she was a bartender at Lucifer's nightclub, Lux. Her extreme loyalty to her boss was periodically interrupted by fights and betrayals while both of them attempted to reinterpret their lives outside of the context of Hell. "I feel like we were introduced to these two as just, they’re best friends," said Brandt. "They've come from Hell, but like, we never really like saw that journey. You know, like, we never really explored how they got to that point." Although Mazikeen was a love interest of Lucifer in the Vertigo comics, their friendship has been platonic, albeit with implied benefits, on the show. Nevertheless, Brandt sees profound feeling between them: "And even then, with our show… there's a deep, there’s a deep love, deep understanding, a deep respect. They are those friends that call each other out on their shit. They're those friends who fight, but they always make up." The second half of Lucifer's Season 5 does not yet have a release date, but production on Season 6 is well underway, and Brandt indicated that Lucifer and Maze's deep friendship will endure. "They always are there in the moments that they truly, truly need each other," she said. "And you will see that in Season 6.” Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Det. Chloe Decker, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen Smith and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez. The first half of Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix, according to cbr. |
Lucifer season 6 cast: Who's coming back?
Before season six was even confirmed, Tom Ellis's continued involvement was a big talking point online. But eventually, all of the chatter died down when it was confirmed that he would indeed be back.
Modrovich and Henderson are also on board, and here's a list of the rest of the major players:
- Lauren German as Chloe
- Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze
- Rachael Harris as Linda Martin
- Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez
- Kevin Alejandro as Dan Espinoza
- Scarlett Estevez as Trixie Espinoza
- DB Woodside as Amenadiel
But we should add that as we haven't seen season five, part two yet, it's not guaranteed that all of those faces will be back for the final chapter. As we head into the last leg, there's a chance that tragedy could strike, taking any of the show's characters with it.
We also know that Henderson is going to be popping up in the future, although we don't yet know exactly when, digitalspy wrote.

Official production status: Final episode being shot (Last updated: 03/17/2021)
Throughout summer 2020, Lucifer season 5b was put on hold due to the pandemic. We know the majority of episodes had been filmed but a few more had to be completed.
In August 2020, we learned that filming for season 5b was due to restart in October 2020 although it actually kickstarted on September 24th, 2020.
Tom Ellis stated in numerous interviews that production would simultaneously move from season 5 to six.
In late September 2020, several cast and crew members posted to confirm that season 6 had officially started production.
Filming, however, began on October 6th, 2020 as confirmed by the co-showrunner Joe Henderson.
In late October 2020, we got confirmation that the writers had concluded their work on the sixth and final season with Ildy Modrovich taking to Twitter to confirm that it was the “last day in the Lucifer Writer’s Room”.
Filming was still ongoing as of December and January 2021 although Variety had revealed that Lucifer was among the many productions that had faced an extension from coming back from the holidays due to exploding COVID-19 rates in Los Angeles. It’s unclear whether the series has restarted filming in 2021.
In February 2021 the series continues to be in production with numerous cast members continuing to post from what Warner Brothers lot.
Tom Ellis responded saying “I had something in my eye. Honest.”
As for when we can expect season 6 of Lucifer streaming on Netflix? Our guess is as good as yours. With part 2 airing in early 2021, it’s not inconceivable that the series could return on Netflix for season 6 by the end of 2021. However, our safe bet right now is in early 2022.
On March 17th, 2021 Ildy confirmed that the team were gearing up to film the final episode meaning that we’re expecting filming to completely finish within the next few days.
Lucifer season 6 episode count & episode titles

Is there *any* chance of a Lucifer season 7?
Unless we have a series without the main character, the answer is sadly, no.
Speaking on the series coming to an end, the actor conclusively said: "Six seasons of the show is a real achievement.
"It's been a huge emotional journey and I don't think I want to do any more. I know I don't want to do anymore.
"Mainly because I wanna know that we're ending and because I've had such a great time. I think it's only fitting that we have a proper ending to the show."
