Hansen was born in May 18, 2002 in Hoorn, The Netherlands. The speedy forward who stands at 1.73 m is 18 years old as of May 2020.
He had a difficult childhood. So far, Sontje’s journey has not been a bed of roses. He fought to reach the level he is today having been raised by a single mother-Sonaida together with his brother Ricky.
In order to provide his sons with the necessary football gear, she relied on charity from Stichting Leergeld to do so.
When Hansen was signing his professional contract with Ajax, his mother said:
“I was a single mother and I always struggled to give the boys everything.
“It was very difficult at times and I was having a hard time financially.”
Sontje Hansen Club Career
The Dutchman started his career at hometown side HSV Sport 1889 as a boy in 2007 and after spending around 4 years there, he left for Zwaluwen ’30. His performances with the club were so impressive that he earned himself a move to the academy of Dutch giants Ajax (2013) a year after transferring there.
Hasen progressed through the age groups over the years. His stellar form at youth level saw Hansen handed his senior debut against Telstar in a 3-4 cup competition win in December 2019 aged 17.
That maiden senior appearance was followed up with his Eredivisie debut. He came on in the final minutes of Ajax’s huge 6-1 victory over ADO Den Haag.
Bar his 2 senior appearances, the 2019/20 season saw Hasen play largely for the youth of Ajax, providing 6 assists and 7 goals over 24 appearances, according to Sportstuff.

Sontje Hansen is one of the biggest talents of the Ajax youth but had a contract that would end next season. Several big clubs, reportedly Manchester City, Juventus, and Inter, were eyeing him but he decided to stay at Ajax.
Ajax has been extending contracts of quite a few talents. Ryan Gravenberch, Devyne Rensch, Naci Ünüvar, Kenneth Taylor, an Jurriën Timber also extended their contracts earlier this summer.
Hansen joined Ajax aged 11. He made his debut for the first team last season versus Telstar in the KNVB Cup. This season he’ll mostly play for Jong Ajax.
Sontje Hansen Golden Boot Winner
During the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Brazil, the Ajax youngster introduced himself on the world stage as an elite prospect. Hansen notched six goals for the Netherlands to win the Golden Boot in a run that saw his country reach the semi-finals.
His best game of the tournament included a hat-trick against Nigeria, which was a complete display of accomplished finishing. It was a tournament that the striker started slowly, not scoring in the first two matches, before going on a three-match hot streak, as 90Min reports.
Sontje Hansen First-Team Experience
Continuing Ajax's great history of blooding their youth prospects, Hansen has already enjoyed game time in the first team this season.
The 17-year-old made his first appearance in the Dutch cup against Telstar for his first professional appearance. Not content there, Hansen made his Eredivisie debut just four days later, coming on as a substitute against ADO Den Haag.
Sontje's 18th birthday is more than a month away.
