Manchester United face Fulham on Friday in their opening Premier League fixture of the 2024/25 campaign.
Joshua Zirkzee scored late in the game to help Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 and have a good start to the 2024–25 Premier League season.
United beat Fulham 1-0 in the first Premier League game of the season thanks to a goal scored by Joshua Zirkzee from the bench in the 87th minute. The Dutch player, who was signed from Bologna over the summer, scored a late goal after coming on as a substitute in the 82nd minute, making Erik ten Hag's team look like they would have a tough time at Old Trafford.
Zirkzee didn't have much game time after moving from Bologna for £36.5 million ($47 million) last month, so he only came on for the last 30 minutes.
The Dutch player turned in Alejandro Garnacho's cross in the 87th minute, which saved the Red Devils from a bad night at Old Trafford.
"To win here in my first home game and to grab a goal, it couldn't be better," Zirkzee said.
"I've been told that scoring at the Stretford End is one of the best feelings at Manchester United." I'm so grateful and lucky that I got to see it in my first game. "What a great feeling."

Last season, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes each had 3.51 shots per 90 minutes, so they should have no trouble finding the back of the net here. Meanwhile, Fernandes could be a good pick to get a booking, as he picked up 9 yellow cards.

Why is Man United vs Fulham on Friday?
The 2024–25 United season opener was rescheduled to Friday, August 16th, after being chosen for live television coverage.
Sky Sports, the premier league's official broadcast partner, began airing regular Friday night football matches in August 2016.
Up until recently, the only time top-tier matches would be played live on the last day of the typical work week was in extreme cases.
This happened the day after Manchester United's 1-0 win over Aston Villa in August 2015 due to an EDL march in the vicinity.
But beginning in August 2016, Sky shifted its focus to attracting higher-viewing fixtures by securing a more permanent Friday night slot.
After that month's coverage of United's 2-0 victory over Southampton, it was ironic that United would once again be the first of ten games played on Friday nights that season.
