Getting a new job at your 50s and 60s may not be as hard as you think. In this day and age, getting a job when older can be as simple as a few simple clicks.

If you’re retired and want to start working again or earn cash on the side, a quick online search might bring up a plethora of job search websites. Some sites and apps cater directly to older workers who are searching for a retirement job.

Here are top 10 best job research for older Americans in 2022/23.

Is it hard for older Americans to find a job?

Some 5.7 million workers ages 55 or older lost their jobs in the US in March and April 2020, 15% of workers in an age demographic that has also experienced the vast majority of Covid-19 deaths. The unemployment rate for workers ages 65 and older hit a record rate of 7.5% in 2020.

The unemployment rate has tumbled dramatically since the height of the pandemic but older workers are still struggling to find work despite all the reports of worker shortages, according to the Guardian.

A June 2021 analysis by economists at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at The New School found at least 1.7 million more older workers than expected retired due to the pandemic. The analysis encouraged policy solutions such as expanding Medicare eligibility to the age of 50, expanding social security benefits, and creating a department dedicated to older workers at the US Department of Labor.

Monique Morrisey, an economist at the Economic Policy Institute, explained there are differences among affected older workers, with 55 to 64 year olds who are not eligible for Medicare and in most cases are not yet receiving social security, and workers 65 and older who left the workforce. The issues facing late middle age workers are more worrisome, given their economic demographics.

“Among this younger group, the job losses are concentrated among non-college educated workers in lower paid jobs and are disproportionately also jobs that have high contact with the public,” said Morrissey. “It’s a lot harder to get another job when you’re an older worker.”

A survey published by AARP in May 2021 found 78% of workers ages 40 to 65 reported either seeing or experiencing age discrimination in the workplace, the highest level found by AARP since they began surveying the question in 2003. More than half of jobseekers over the age of 55 were classified as unemployed for longer than 27 weeks in early 2021.

Older workers were the furthest behind in employment recovery among age demographics.

In 2017, Facebook also partnered with the company and integrated ZipRecruiter into its platform.

In 2018, the company reported that over 1.5 million businesses and 430 million job seekers used its platform.

In December 2018, the company's users' names and email addresses were exposed in a data breach. ZipRecruiter claimed that they were able to fix it within 90 minutes after the technical glitch was reported.

In March 2019, ZipRecruiter began operating in Canada.

In April 2021, the company filed for a Direct Listing. The company went public on May 26, 2021.

In September 2021, ZipRecruiter signed a one-year deal with UFC for a "low seven-figure fee".

ZipRecruiter delayed raising venture capital until 2014, when the company's first round of financing of $63 million was led by IVP.

In October 2018, the company raised $156 million for its online employment marketplace, which brought its total funding to $219 million. Blake Irving, Cipora Herman, and Emilie Choi were added as new members to its board. The October 2018 raise was at a valuation of $1 billion.

Indeed is an American worldwide employment website for job listings launched in November 2004. It is a subsidiary of Japan's Recruit Co. Ltd. and is co-headquartered in Austin, Texas and Stamford, Connecticut with additional offices around the world. As a single-topic search engine, it is also an example of vertical search. Indeed is currently available in over 60 countries and 28 languages. In October 2010, Indeed.com passed Monster.com to become the highest-traffic job website in the United States.
