A player can improve as a result of gaining more league experience, playing more minutes, or just hard work paying off. Due to the abundance of resources at their disposal in the modern era, players have limitless opportunities to improve their games.

There is no denying that some of the NBA's best young stars have been expanding and improving their skill sets each year thanks to the talent explosion that has occurred over the past few seasons.

Top 10 Most Improved NBA Players

1. Lonzo Ball

With Zach LaVine, the franchise star, and his other new teammates, Lonzo Ball has transformed Chicago's backcourt and is currently giving the Bulls a bit of everything at the point guard position. Ball has been playing basketball of the All-Star caliber all season with a greatly improved jump shot, brilliant passing, and superior defense.

Ball will help the Bulls be a serious threat in the postseason if he can maintain his current level of play, help his teammates score while making some clutch shots along the way. And maybe he could even get some hardware.

2. Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole has been giving the Warriors a scoring boost all season long and is still a standout Bay Area rotation player. With Klay Thompson still out injured, Poole's performance this season has unquestionably been a major factor in the Warriors' early-season success in the NBA.

He has been a perfect fit for Golden State thanks to his agility, 3-point shooting, and perimeter defense, and will likely be mentioned in Most Improved Player discussions this season. Poole is an enormous asset to this team, whether he starts alongside Stephen Curry or comes off the bench, and his outstanding play will be crucial in the second half of the campaign as Thompson recovers.

3. Jamal Murray

If Porter Jr. hadn't decided to compete against his teammate, he would have easily won this prize. Something changed for Murray when the NBA made the move to the bubble. Murray beat the Utah Jazz three times in the first round of the playoffs, scoring 50 points twice and 42 points once. In four of the five games of the Western Conference Finals, Murray scored 20 points or more.

These were significant improvements over Murray's regular season averages of 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Murray has never played in an All-Star game, but he performed admirably in the postseason. Murray will be the undisputed favorite to win the NBA's Most Improved Player award if he can do that consistently over the course of a 72-game regular season.

4. Michael Porter Jr.

Porter Jr. made his debut last season after missing all but one game of the entire 2018–19 season due to a back injury. Porter Jr. averaged 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds over the course of 55 games. In the playoffs, those totals increased to 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds. People tend to forget that Porter Jr. was expected to go first overall in 2018 before suffering a back injury at Missouri and missing the entire season.

Porter Jr. appears to be starting the season fully healthy for the first time in at least two seasons. He is anticipated to play more than 30 minutes each night and start at small forward. Porter Jr. averaged 36.2 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.2 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game during his time as the Gatorade National Player of the Year. High school may be a long way off, but the difference between his 2019 season and the 2020 year could be enormous.

5. Miles Bridges

Miles Bridges always had a lot of potential because as a 6'6" forward with a lot of bounce, he could be an effective player inside and outside the paint. Bridges appears to be in excellent shape after averaging 22.3 PPG and 7.4 RPG this season, up from 12.7 PPG and 6.0 RPG last season. Bridges is not far behind LaMelo Ball in terms of highlights thanks to his explosiveness.

The forward has started every game this season and is converting 34.8% of his three-point attempts while shooting 44.7% overall. Bridges may be undersized for a power forward, but he is athletic enough to work well with Terry Rozier and Ball. If it weren't for one aspiring superstar, Miles Bridges would easily win the Most Improved Player award.

6. Andrew Wiggins

In his third season with the Warriors, Andrew Wiggins is having a career year and is having great success. He has been a tremendous asset to Golden State this season because of his enhanced and expanded offensive game and elite perimeter defense. Wiggins has undoubtedly had a significant impact in the Bay Area and continues to shine for them with his exceptional two-way play as he slowly but surely revives his playing career.

The Warriors will only see more good things in the future if he can maintain this level of play throughout the entire year. to a. to a. to a.. to........................................

7. Tyler Herro

Tyler Herro is undoubtedly giving it all he's got to land a lucrative contract because he appears eager to make up for a disappointing season last year. Herro is at last showcasing his tremendous offensive talent by scoring the ball at a very high level after failing to make a significant improvement after his rookie season. Herro's shooting statistics, where he is connecting on 45.8% of his field goals and 40.0% of his three-point attempts, are particularly impressive.

While Kyle Lowry, Bam Adebayo, and Jimmy Butler are all elite players, Tyler Herro's goal scoring has elevated Miami to the level of a title contender. Currently, the Heat are the most impressive team in the East, and if Herro continues to play well off the bench, they will get even better. Herro believes that if he averages more than 21 points per game for the entire season, he will be offered the lucrative contract he so desires.

8. Lauri Markkanen

Markkanen finished the season on the First-Team All-Rookie team when he first entered the league. He then had a standout sophomore season, scoring 18.7 points and pulling down 9.0 rebounds per game. But something unexpected happened in Year 3. His game-average points dropped to 14.7 while his rebounding fell to 6.3. He also saw a two-point decline in his three-point shooting percentage.

Jim Boylen was frequently cited as the cause of Markkanen's backwards movement. In an effort to infuse some new life into this team, the Bulls fired Boylen this offseason and hired Billy Donovan, the former head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bulls forward should be more than just a spot-up shooter this year, according to Donovan, who has already stated this. Let's see if we can help him reach his full potential.

9. Jackson Jr.

The stage is set for Jackson Jr. to have a breakout season in his fourth season after playing just 11 games in his comeback from a meniscus tear in the previous one.

The Grizzlies are confident that Jackson Jr. can fill the significant offensive void left by the offseason trade of Jonas Valanciunas for Steven Adams. Jackson Jr. will be counted on as their second offensive option in tandem with Ja Morant, while Adams sets screens, grabs rebounds, and defends the paint.

He scored 17.4 points per game on 39.4% of his 3-point attempts in 2019–20. With his ability to score both inside and outside the paint, he has all the makings of a prototypical modern NBA big man.

Memphis will have its sights set on the playoffs, and the key to getting there will be a healthy Jackson Jr. performing to the best of his ability.

10. Ja Morant

Ja Morant led the league in scoring through the first month of the season while showcasing some stylish new moves and an expanded offensive repertoire. Morant is the favorite to win Most Improved Player despite missing significant time for the Grizzlies due to a left knee sprain due to his improved play on both ends of the floor and even more vigor this season.

While Morant is still getting back into shape, he is anticipated to resume playing at an All-Star caliber soon. He can now firmly establish himself as the NBA's Most Improved Player for the 2021–22 season.
