3 January: Alexandra Palace, London
The PDC World Darts Championship final, which takes place on January 3 at Alexandra Palace in London, gets the sporting year off to a great start. Following a thrilling final at Ally Pally against Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith emerged victorious in 2023.
2. Asian Cup
Qatar will host the Asian Cup from January 12 to February 10. The original schedule for this tournament called for it to happen in 2023. However, the inability to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in China, the host nation, caused the Asian Cup to be postponed for a year. Following that, Qatar, the nation that successfully hosted the 2022 World Cup, also regained the right to host.
Big names like Son Heung Min, Kim Min Jae (Korea), Takefusa Kubo, Takumi Minamino (Japan), Mehdi Taremi (Iran),... have helped Asian football gain popularity over the years. As such, there will be plenty of exciting and high-caliber matches during the Asian Cup.
3. African Nations Championship (CAN) 2024
The African Nations Cup (CAN Cup), held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, runs concurrently with the Asian Cup. The tournament date was postponed as well, but this time it was because of bad weather. The CAN Cup was originally planned for June and July of 2023. It has been rescheduled for January 2024, though, as the host Ivory Coast is worried that the extended wet season will degrade professional quality.
4. Rugby Union: Six Nations
Men's 2 February to 16 March; Women's 23 March to 27 April
In the Six Nations Championship, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales compete for the title. In 2023, Ireland won the men's competition, completing a grand slam, and England won the women's Six Nations as well.
5. NFL: Super Bowl LVIII
11 February: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada
The NFL's showpiece event, the Super Bowl, takes place on Sunday 11 February at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
6. Men's Football: Uefa Champions League final

This Saturday, June 1, European club football's biggest match will take place at London's legendary Wembley Stadium. The match has been played at either the old or new Wembley for the eighth time.
7. Men's cricket: ICC T20 World Cup
4-30 June: USA and West Indies
The men's T20 World Cup will be held in three US locations—Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida, and Nassau County in New York—and seven Caribbean locations—Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St Vincent & The Grenadines. This was confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Twenty countries will compete in the June 30 World Cup final.
8. Men's Football: Uefa Euro 2024

Germany will host the 24th edition of the men's Uefa European Championship. The competition begins on Friday, June 14 in Munich and concludes on Sunday, July 14 with the final held in Berlin. The reigning champions are Italy.
Germany will host Euro 2024 from June 14 to July 14. Teams with large fan bases, like Portugal, Italy, France, England, Germany, and France, will compete to win the coveted trophy. Naturally, these teams are home to the best players in the world, chief among them being none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite taking the Portuguese throne in 2016, Ronaldo still longs to lay his hands on the Euro gold cup.
9. Men's Football: Copa América
20 June to 14 July: United States
The 48th edition of the CONMEBOL men's Copa América football championship will see Argentina look to defend their title. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host the opening fixture on Thursday 20 June and the final is at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Sunday 14 July.
The tournament will be held in the United States, which is not a member of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). However, this is not a new phenomenon in Copa America. In 2016, the United States hosted the tournament to commemorate the tournament's 100th anniversary.
Many people are looking forward to Messi's performance with Argentina at Copa America 2024. After winning the 2022 World Cup, this team has maintained a high level of performance and is a strong contender for the championship.

26 July to 11 August: Paris, France
The French capital Paris is preparing to welcome the world's top athletes for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games from Friday 26 July to Sunday 11 August.
When the football tournaments conclude, the Paris 2024 Olympics will begin. Because the Olympics is such a large and long-running sporting event, a gold medal is always very valuable. Top athletes from leading sports such as the United States, China, England, Japan, and others will compete in this arena.
The unique aspect is that football is not the most popular sport at the Olympics. Athletics, swimming, weightlifting, and shooting are alternatives.
13. Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Following the conclusion of the Olympics on 11 August, the Paralympic Games will take place in Paris from Wednesday 28 August until Sunday 8 September.

Beginning in 2024, the biennial Solheim Cup women's golf team competition will take place in even years. The top 12 European players from the Ladies European Tour and the top 12 US players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour will compete in a match-play format at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia. The cup was retained by Team Europe, the defending champions, after a 14–14 draw at the Finca Cortesin in Andalusia, Spain, in September.
15. Women's Cricket: ICC T20 World Cup
September and October: Bangladesh
The ninth ICC Women's T20 World Cup cricket tournament will take place in Bangladesh. Ten countries, including the reigning champions Australia, will fight for the trophy during the September and October dates.

Tyson Fury currently holds the WBC title. Oleksandr Usyk owns the remaining three belts. This match is highly anticipated not only because of the titles at stake, but also because of the caliber of the two boxers. Both Fury and Usyk have a perfect record in their respective careers.
17. Grand Slam Tournaments
Of course, we cannot overlook the four major tennis tournaments in 2024: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. This is an opportunity for Novak Djokovic to break the record for most Grand Slam titles (he currently has 24).
Furthermore, young players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Casper Ruud, and others are expected to dethrone Djokovic.
Rafael Nadal's career may come to an end in 2024. He recently hinted that he would be retiring soon.
In the women's event, Iga Swiatek will most likely maintain her top form in order to maintain her world number one ranking and win more Grand Slam titles. Fans will also be looking forward to Naomi Osaka's return after a hiatus due to childbirth.
