Simple Recipe to make Mawa Cake

You want to try making a mouthwatering cake for your afternoon tea party for your beloved ones or just simply want to try another kind of cake that you have never made it before. Mawa Cake is a really worth-trying cake. Here is the Simple Recipe to make Mawa Cake to instruct you.

WHAT IS MAWA CAKE?

For the uninitiated, mawa is nothing but milk solids, left behind by heating the milk on low heat for hours until all the moisture is evaporated. This resultant dough left behind is mawa or khoya or khoa- milk solids which are used practically for most Indian sweets and savory dishes like the basic white gravy in Punjabi cuisine.

I’ve shared a few Indian sweet recipes using mawa powder in my earlier posts, like this kesar (saffron) peda, mango mawa burfi, and chocolate mawa peda. In terms of savory dishes, I’ve used little milk mawa powder to make this delicious methi matar malai paneer, cites aromaticessence.

Ingredients

500 gm butter
215 gm egg yolk
450 gm all purpose flour
salt as required
250 gm khoya
215 gm yoghurt (curd)
5 gm baking powder
20 gm dry rose petals
600 gm caster sugar
5 gm powdered green cardamom
250 gm powdered almonds
10 ml vanilla essence
215 gm heavy cream
5 gm baking soda
100 gm gulkand

How to make Mawa Cake?

Step 1

Take a large bowl and sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, almond powder, cardamom powder, caster sugar in it. Next, in another bowl mix together heavy cream, rose petals, butter, vanilla essence, gulkand, and yoghurt.

Step 2

Take a deep-bottomed bowl and mix together the contents of both bowls for 2-3 minutes until all the ingredients are mixed well. Now, add egg yolks in the prepared yoghurt-flour mixture, and beat well using an electric beater till peaks form, shows timesofindia.

Step 3

Finally, add khoya in the bowl and mix once again using a spoon, the cake mix is ready now. Fill the prepared cake mix in a cake mold and bake at 170 degrees Celsius for 25-30 minutes.

Step 4

Cover with rolled marzipan and garnish with seasonal fruits and serve warm.

Eggless Mawa Cake

An Indian Mawa Cake that's flavored with milk and cardamom and topped with nuts. It's delicious and perfect with a cup of tea, according to honeywhatscooking.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp ground cardamom

Wet Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup mawa/khoya
3/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup low-fat yogurt

Garnish

1 tbsp pistachios chopped
1 tbsp cashews chopped
4 almonds chopped

Instructions

Prep

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Butter an 8-inch springform pan.
Set aside the dry ingredients... flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cardamom.

Prepare the Batter

Using an electric hand blender, mix the softened butter until creamy.

Add the sugar to the creamed butter, blend for a couple of minutes until the butter and sugar form a creamy mixture.

Like so.

Add the vanilla extract and mawa/khoya. Blend for about a minute until all the ingredients are well combined.

Now add all the dry ingredients. Blend for about 30 seconds until the flour has incorporated into the butter-sugar mixture. The batter should be crumbly.

Add the milk and yogurt. Using a spatula, fold the milk and yogurt into the flour mixture. DO NOT MIX, FOLD THE MIXTURE.

Pour the batter into the springform pan. Top with chopped nuts.

Into the oven for 45-55 minutes. I baked my Mawa Cake for exactly 52 minutes.
