Burnley v Arsenal

March 6, 2021

Burnley are looking to complete their first league double over Arsenal since the 1962-63 campaign, following their 1-0 win at the Emirates earlier this season.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last eight away league games against Burnley (W4 D4), keeping a clean sheet in four of their last five. Their last league defeat at Turf Moor was in December 1973.

Arsenal have conceded just seven goals in their 13 Premier League meetings with Burnley, and never more than once in a match. It’s the most they’ve faced a side in the competition without conceding more than one goal in any of their meetings.

Burnley have won just one of their nine Saturday Premier League matches this season (D3 L5), winning 3-0 at Crystal Palace last month. Their only 12.30 Saturday kick-off this season ended in a 1-1 draw at home to Everton.

Arsenal have won four of their last six Premier League away games (L2), as many as they had in their previous 18 on the road (D6 L8).

Following 3-2 and 3-1 victories against Benfica and Leicester respectively, Arsenal are looking to score 3+ goals in three consecutive games in all competitions for the first time since September 2019 under Unai Emery.

Ashley Barnes has scored 43% of Burnley’s Premier League goals against Arsenal (3/7) – he’s the only current member of their squad to score a league goal for the Clarets against Arsenal.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored more Premier League goals against Burnley than he has any other side in the competition (7). However, the Gunners captain scored the winning goal at the wrong end in the reverse fixture this season.

Arsenal’s Nicolas Pépé has scored in four of his last five away games in the Premier League, having netted in just two of his first 18 on the road in the competition.

Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette has scored seven away goals in the Premier League this season, more than he had in 2018-19 and 2019-20 combined (6). Seven of the Gunners’ 11 Premier League victories this season have been in games in which Lacazette has scored.

Sheffield United v Southampton

March 6, 2021

Sheffield United have lost two of their last three home league games against Southampton, more than they had in their previous 15 at Bramall Lane (W11 D3 L1).

Southampton have won their last three league meetings with Sheffield United, last winning four in a row against them in 1950 in the second tier.

Sheffield United have won just one of their seven Premier League meetings with Southampton (D2 L4), with that victory coming in the first such meeting between the sides in October 1992 (2-0).

Since their return to the Premier League in 2012, Southampton have won four of their seven Premier League games in Yorkshire (D1 L2), as many as they had in their first 25 in the competition between 1992-93 and 2004-05 (W4 D10 L11).

Sheffield United have lost all eight of their Premier League games played on Saturdays this season – as it stands, it’s the highest number of games a team has played on a specific weekday within a single Premier League season with a 100% loss rate.

Southampton are on the longest current winless run in the Premier League, losing eight of their last nine games (D1) since beating Liverpool in January.

After scoring in 12 consecutive league games between September – December (averaging 2.1 goals-per-game), Southampton have failed to score in eight of their last 13 Premier League matches (averaging 0.5 goals-per-game).

Away from home, Southampton have lost their last five Premier League games by an aggregate score of 18-2. They last lost more consecutive away games in the top-flight between November 2004 and February 2005 (7).

Southampton striker Che Adams has scored more Premier League goals against Sheffield United than he has versus any other side, netting three goals in three appearances against his former employers.

Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick has scored six Premier League goals for the Blades this season, twice as many as any other player (Billy Sharp, 3). He is looking to score in consecutive league games for the first time since January 2019 in the Championship.

Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers

March 6, 2021

Aston Villa are looking to secure their first league double over Wolves since the 2003-04 campaign, following their 1-0 win at Molineux back in December.

Wolves won this exact fixture 1-0 last season – they haven’t won consecutive away league games against Aston Villa since a run of three between 1957 and 1960.

Aston Villa have won just one of their last six home league games against Wolves (D3 L2), having won six of their seven prior to that (L1).

Aston Villa have won all five of their Premier League home games when scoring first this season and lost all five at Villa Park when conceding first. The other game finished goalless, making Villa Park the only ground not to see a single point gained/lost from a losing/winning position this season.

Aston Villa have the highest win rate in Premier League games played on Saturdays this season (75% - 6/8), while Wolves (5 games) are one of two sides yet to win on Saturday in the top-flight so far this term (along with Sheffield United).

Aston Villa netted 27 goals in their first 13 Premier League games this season, netting 3+ goals on six separate occasions – in their last 12 games, they have scored just 11 goals, failing to score more than twice in any game.

Only Sheffield United have conceded the first goal in more different Premier League games than Wolves this season (18). Indeed, Wolves have opened the scoring in just one of their last 17 league games, doing so in their 1-0 victory against Leeds last month.

Wolves have conceded 23 away goals in the Premier League this season, already two more than they did on the road in the whole of 2019-20.

Ollie Watkins has scored seven home Premier League goals this season – the last Aston Villa player to net more at Villa Park in a top-flight campaign was Christian Benteke in 2012-13 (11), while the last English player to do so was Darius Vassell in 2001-02 (8).

In their last game against Man City, Wolves defender Conor Coady scored with his first ever Premier League shot on target, in what was his 103rd appearance in the competition. It's the longest an outfield player has waited for their first shot on target in the Premier League since Paulo Ferreira (105 games between 2004 and 2010).

Brighton and Hove Albion v Leicester City

March 6, 2021

Brighton are winless in all seven of their Premier League meetings with Leicester (D2 L5), failing to score on five occasions in this run.

Leicester have faced Brighton without ever losing more than they have any other side in the Premier League (7 – W5 D2).

Leicester have already beaten Brighton twice this season (3-0 in Premier League, 1-0 in FA Cup). The last time they won three games against the same top-flight club in the same season was back in 1962-63, doing so against Ipswich, Leyton Orient and Liverpool.

Brighton have lost their last two Premier League games, last losing three in a row in November 2019. Over these two games, the Seagulls have had 40 shots (11 on target) to their opponents nine (four on target), averaged 72.5% possession, and have an expected goals total of 5.5 (compared to 1 against).

Brighton have won eight penalties this season, more than in any of their previous three campaigns in the competition. However, the Seagulls have missed three of those spot kicks this term (including two against West Brom last time out), just one fewer than in their previous three campaigns combined (missed 4/15).

Brighton have won just 10 home Premier League points this season (P13 W1 D7 L5), with no side collecting fewer this season. Eight of the previous nine sides in Premier League history to win one or fewer game in their first 13 home games in a season have been relegated, with Wigan Athletic in 2011-12 the only exception.

Leicester are unbeaten in their last 12 away games in all competitions (W7 D5), only having one longer away unbeaten run in their entire history, a 14-match stretch between April and December 2015.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has been involved in eight goals in his last six Premier League appearances against Brighton (5 goals, 3 assists), having a hand in all three in the Foxes’ 3-0 win in the reverse fixture (1 goal, 2 assists).

Since Brighton were promoted to the Premier League in 2017-18, only Kevin De Bruyne (339) has created more chances in the top-flight than Pascal Groß (242), with the German creating the most chances in all four seasons for the Seagulls, including 2020-21 (47).

Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho has scored three goals in his last six appearances in all competitions, as many as in his previous 23 for the Foxes. One of those goals was a 90th-minute winner in Leicester’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Brighton last month.

West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle United

March 7, 2021

West Brom have won seven points from their last four Premier League home games against Newcastle (W2 D1 L1), one more than they had from their first seven against them in the competition (W1 D3 L3).

Newcastle are looking to complete their first Premier League double over West Brom since the 2008-09 season, when both sides were eventually relegated to the Championship.

Newcastle lost their last Premier League match against a side in the relegation zone, going down 0-1 at Sheffield United. They’ve not lost consecutive games against teams in the bottom three within the same season since March 2013 (vs Reading and Wigan).

West Brom have won none of their eight Premier League games played on Sundays this season, drawing two and losing six. Their last such victory in the competition was back in April 2018 at Manchester United (1-0).

Since picking up nine points in a run of five games in November/December (W3 D0 L2), Newcastle have won just nine points from their subsequent 15 Premier League matches (W2 D3 L10).

Newcastle have lost eight of their last 10 Premier League away games, winning the other two. All three of the Magpies’ victories on the road this season have been by a 2-0 scoreline and have been goalless at half-time.

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has won 13 Premier League matches against Newcastle United (D4 L7), two more than he has against any other opponent.

Newcastle’s Miguel Almirón has scored three goals in his two appearances against West Brom in all competitions, giving the Magpies the lead after just 20 seconds in the reverse league fixture at St James’ Park this season.

In their 1-1 draw with Wolves, 13 different Newcastle players attempted an effort at goal, the most for a team in a Premier League match since April 2018 (Arsenal vs Stoke, 13).

West Brom’s Matt Phillips has been directly involved in five goals in his last four Premier League appearances against Newcastle (2 goals, 3 assists), assisting Darnell Furlong’s goal earlier this season.

Liverpool v Fulham

March 7, 2021

Liverpool have lost just one of their 23 top-flight home games against Fulham (W16 D6), with that lost coming in May 2012 under Kenny Dalglish (0-1).

Fulham haven’t avoided defeat in both league games against Liverpool in a season since beating them twice in the 2011-12 campaign.

Fulham have won just two of their 26 away league games against reigning top-flight champions (D3 L21), beating Ipswich 1-0 in March 1963 and Manchester United 3-1 in October 2003.

Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in 11 of their 14 Premier League home games against Fulham, shipping just one goal in each of the other three meetings.

Fulham are looking to become the first London side to win away at both Everton and Liverpool in the same Premier League season since West Ham United in 2015-16.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League away games (W1 D6) – their longest run without defeat on the road in their top-flight history. The Cottagers have also kept three clean sheets in their last five Premier League away games, more than they had in their previous 45 on the road in the competition (2).

Liverpool have never lost a home Premier League match against a newly promoted side under Jürgen Klopp (P15 W14 D1). Klopp’s last home league defeat against a promoted team was in December 2013 as Borussia Dortmund manager, losing 2-1 to Hertha BSC.

Two English managers have won away league games at Anfield this season, with Graham Potter and Sean Dyche winning with Brighton and Burnley respectively. The last Premier League season to three away wins by Englishmen against Liverpool was 1993-94: Dave Bassett (Sheff Utd), Kevin Keegan (Newcastle) and John Deehan (Norwich).

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in 15 goals in his 11 home Premier League games against newly promoted opposition (9 goals, 6 assists).

During his Premier League playing career, Fulham manager Scott Parker only played at Old Trafford (9 games) more often without winning than Anfield (8). This will be his first league match as manager there, with only two of the last 38 English managers winning their first away game at Anfield – Ian Holloway in 2010 with Blackpool and Paul Clement in 2017 with Swansea.

Manchester City v Manchester United

March 7, 2021

Man City have lost three of their last five home league games against Manchester United (D1 L1), including a 1-2 defeat last season. They’ve not lost consecutive home league games against Man Utd since April 2010.

Manchester United are looking to win three consecutive away games in all competitions against Manchester City for the first time since a run of four between November 1993 and November 2000.

Manchester City have kept a clean sheet in both of their meetings with Manchester United this season (0-0 Premier League, 2-0 League Cup). The last team to record three shutouts against the Red Devils within a single season was Arsenal in 1998-99.

Manchester City are unbeaten in 28 games in all competitions – if they avoid defeat here they will set a new club record for games without defeat. The Citizens have also won each of their last 21 matches, the third ever longest run in all competitions among teams in the big five European leagues.

Manchester United have drawn their last three matches goalless in all competitions – they have never drawn four in a row goalless, while the last Premier League side to do so was Spurs back in February 2001.

Manchester City haven’t trailed for a single minute in any of their last 19 Premier League games – if they don’t fall behind in this game it will be a new record in the competition’s history (Arsenal also 19 between Dec 1998-May 1999).

Manchester United are unbeaten in 21 away Premier League matches (W13 D8) – in top-flight history, only Arsenal have had a longer away unbeaten run, going 23 without defeat between August 2001 and September 2002 and 27 without defeat between April 2003 and September 2004.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær could become the first manager in Manchester United’s history to win each of his first three away meetings in all competitions with Manchester City.

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has scored away in the Premier League against Man City in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. Only Wayne Rooney (4) and Eric Cantona (3) have scored in more away Manchester derbies for the Red Devils in the Premier League, with only Cantona doing so in three consecutive appearances.

Man City’s Sergio Agüero has scored nine goals in 16 Manchester derbies in all competitions. However, eight of those nine goals came in his first eight meetings with the Red Devils, with the Argentine netting just one in his previous eight against them.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

March 7, 2021

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace (W9 D2), their longest ongoing run against any side currently in the division.

Since a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane in November 1997, Crystal Palace are winless in their last eight away league games against Spurs (D2 L6), failing to score in the last seven and losing each of the last five.

Since Crystal Palace’s return to the Premier League in 2013, Tottenham have kept 11 clean sheets in 15 top-flight meetings with the Eagles – more than any side has against another in the division in that time.

Crystal Palace are winless in their last five Premier League London derbies, though four of these have ended level. The Eagles last had a longer run without a victory in league London derbies in the 2017-18 campaign (7).

Following their 2-1 win at Brighton last time out, Crystal Palace are looking to win consecutive away league games for the first time since June 2020. The Eagles’ first victory in that run was against Brighton.

Since winning 5-1 at West Brom in December, Crystal Palace have scored just five goals in their subsequent seven Premier League away games. The Eagles have averaged just 4.8 shots per game in their last four away league games, compared to 12.1 in their first nine this season.

Spurs’ Harry Kane has scored five goals in 13 Premier League appearances against Crystal Palace, with all of these goals coming at Selhurst Park. Only Jamie Vardy and Michael Owen (both 6 vs West Bromwich Albion) have scored more Premier League goals against an opponent with all of them coming in away games.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored more Sunday goals than any other Premier League player this season, netting 12 in 16 games. Only six players have scored more Sunday goals in a single Premier League campaign, with Wayne Rooney holding the record (17 in 2011-12).

Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min has been directly involved in six goals in seven Premier League starts against Crystal Palace, scoring five times and assisting once. He only has more Premier League goals against Southampton (8) than he does against Palace (5).

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has won just one of his 18 Premier League matches against Spurs, with his win ratio of 5.6% the worst among all teams he’s faced at least five times in the competition. His sole win was in November 2008 with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea v Everton

March 8, 2021

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 25 Premier League home games against Everton (W14 D11). Only against Spurs have the Blues had a longer unbeaten home run in top-flight history (27 between 1990-2016).

Only against Leeds (35 between 1946-2001) have Everton had a longer winless away run in the top-flight than they have at Chelsea, with the Toffees winless in 25 visits to Stamford Bridge since a 1-0 win in November 1994.

Chelsea have lost three of their last four Premier League meetings with Everton (W1), as many as they had in their previous 15 against them in the competition (W9 D3).

Everton are looking to complete their first league double over Chelsea since the 1978-79 campaign, when the Blues finished bottom of the top-flight with just five wins from 42 games.

Chelsea have won 10 of their last 14 Premier League games played on Mondays (D2 L2) and are unbeaten in their four such games this season (W3 D1).

Everton have won their last two Monday top-flight games, last winning three in a row between April 1989 – April 1991 (a run of five). They beat Southampton 1-0 last Monday, last winning league games on consecutive Mondays in 2016-17 (Dec 26th and Jan 2nd).

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could become the first manager in Premier League history to see his side keep a clean sheet in each of his first five home games in charge in the competition. Meanwhile, the Blues are looking to keep five consecutive home league clean sheets for the first time since January 2015.

Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored more Premier League goals against Chelsea than he has vs any other side in the competition (6). However, just one of these six goals has come at Stamford Bridge (May 2013 with Tottenham).

Chelsea’s Édouard Mendy has kept six clean sheets in his first 10 home Premier League starts, the most by a goalkeeper in their first 10 home starts since Alisson kept seven for Liverpool at Anfield in 2018. The only Chelsea goalkeeper with more Premier League clean sheets in their first 10 starts at Stamford Bridge is Petr Cech (8).

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is looking to become the first manager in the Premier League era to win away at Stamford Bridge after having managed Chelsea in the competition (P18 D6 L12). He could be the first manager since Dave Sexton in 1974-75 with QPR to complete a top-flight double over the Blues after leaving the club.

West Ham United v Leeds United

March 8, 2021

West Ham are looking to complete their first league double over Leeds since 1953-54 in the second tier, while they last beat them in both top-flight meetings in a season back in 1929-30.

Leeds have lost just one of their 10 Premier League away games against West Ham (W6 D3), going down 0-3 in March 1998. This is their first such visit since a 4-3 victory in November 2002.

This will be the 100th different league meeting between West Ham and Leeds. The Whites will be the 13th different side West Ham have faced 100+ times in league football, with the Hammers only having a lower win rate against Liverpool (19.8%) and Arsenal (23.2%) than they do against Leeds (25.3%). Meanwhile, of the seven opponents Leeds will have faced 100+ times (including West Ham), their highest win rate is against the Hammers (47%).

West Ham United are looking to win three consecutive home Premier League matches for the first time since March 2019, while manager David Moyes hasn’t won three in a row at home since winning his last six as Everton manager in 2013.

Leeds have lost 12 of their last 13 in London in all competitions (D1), losing all four in the capital in the Premier League this season. Leeds are one of only three top-flight sides yet to win a point in London this term, along with Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion.

None of Leeds United’s last 17 league matches have ended as a draw (W8 L9), their longest run since December 2008 (also 17 in a row). They last had a longer run ending in November 2006, when they went 18 without a draw.

Among teams he’s faced at least five times in his league managerial career, against no sides has David Moyes registered a higher win ratio than against Leeds (80%, 4 wins in 5 games). This is his first home league game against the Whites since September 2003, a 4-0 Everton win with Steve Watson scoring a hat-trick.

Stuart Dallas is yet to end on the winning side for Leeds United in London in 23 attempts in all competitions (D6 L17). The last time Dallas ended on the winning side in London was in May 2015 – a home game for Brentford against Wigan in the Championship.

Michail Antonio has been directly involved in 19 goals in his last 22 Premier League starts for West Ham (15 goals, 4 assists), although he has never scored in eight league appearances against Leeds, the joint-most he’s faced a team without scoring along with Wolves.

Leeds United winger Raphinha has been directly involved in eight goals in nine away Premier League starts (3 goals, 5 assists). The only Leeds player involved in more than eight goals in their first 10 away Premier League starts was Michael Bridges in 1999-00 (8 goals, 1 assist).
