Watching TNT outside the US can be tricking and difficult, and you will have the use of VPN to be able to watch this channel in Australia. Here is how we can stream TNT in this country for free, without cable.
What is TNT channel?

TNT (originally an abbreviation for Turner Network Television) is an American basic cable television channel owned by WarnerMedia Studios & Networks that launched in October 1988. TNT's original purpose was to air classic films and television series to which Turner Broadcasting maintained spillover rights through its sister station TBS. Since June 2001, the network had shifted its focus to dramatic television series and feature films, along with some sporting events (including NBA, NHL, the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament and professional wrestling from AEW Rampage), as TBS shifted its focus to comedic programming.
As of September 2018, TNT was received by approximately 89.573 million households that subscribe to a subscription television service throughout the United States.
European, Middle Eastern, African, Australian, Latin American and Asian versions of TNT were launched in the middle of 1990s, which were exclusively dedicated to movies, mainly from the MGM and Warner Bros. archives (however, the UK, Scandinavian, and Australian versions of TNT all broadcast WCW Monday Nitro (the UK and Scandinavian versions broadcast the show on Friday nights on a four-day delay from its U.S. broadcast), and the Latin American version aired a children's block called "Magic Box"). The European, Australian and Asian versions of TNT shared channel space with Cartoon Network, while the Latin American version shared space with CNN International. The Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific TNT channels were eventually relaunched as Turner Classic Movies, while the Latin American version retained the TNT branding. The most well-known TNT channel in Canada, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific was (and still is) the French version, which used similar graphics to what the flagship U.S. channel was using at the time.

This is pretty unfortunate for anyone living abroad, including US ex-pats, as TNT updates its content regularly to bring you the latest titles to view on demand.
Geo-restrictions are frustrating, especially for streamers all over the world. Well, that’s going to change now. If you live in the UK, Canada, Australia, or anywhere outside the US, this is how you can watch TNT in your region.
UNBLOCK TNT ANYWHERE – QUICK GUIDE
Time needed: 4 minutes.
Getting TNT to operate in your region isn’t that hard of a task. All you need to do is follow the steps below:
1.Sign up with a VPN service.
For seamless streaming, we highly recommend the likes of BulletVPN and ExpressVPN.
2.Download the VPN’s client and install it on your device.
Most providers are compatible with major operating systems such as Android, iOS, PC, and Mac.
3.Sign in with your VPN account.
Once in, connect to an American server.
4.Launch the TNT website or application.
5.Sign in with your TV provider’s account.
Use your cable TV credentials with any of the major TV providers.
6.Stream TNT outside the US.
Watch TNT Drama anywhere in the world.
TNT offers full seasons of hits like The Last Ship, Murder in the First, The Librarians, Legends, and Falling Skies in addition to blockbuster movies. TNT maintains movie licensing agreements with sister company Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (primarily releases from Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema), Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (primarily releases from Walt Disney Pictures (live-action only), Touchstone Pictures, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios, Columbia Pictures, Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures. The channel's daytime, overnight and Saturday morning schedule is mostly dominated by reruns of current and former network police procedural series such as Castle, Bones and TNT mainstay Law & Order, while its weekday morning schedule focuses on sci-fi, supernatural and fantasy series.
Numerous regional versions of TNT were launched and it is available in several locations including Latin America, Germany, Spain, Turkey (now rebranded as tv2), Scandinavia, Netherlands and Flanders, Poland Romania, Africa and Thailand (now closed). However, the most comprehensive programming is available in the US version which, as you may have already guessed, is geo-restricted and can only be streamed from within the US.
Watch TNT in Australia with Smart DNS
If you would like to watch the best TNT shows, series and movies while traveling or staying outside America, you will see the message that the stream is unavailable outside the US. This is because the service is geo-located and it detects your IP as being outside its eligible operating area.
The solution? Very simple – join Getflix for a 14-day free trial and set your devices to work with our Smart DNS which allows you to unblock TNT and hundreds of geo-blocked services supported by Getflix. No need to download and install any additional software, no need to buy any expensive devices – all you need to do is sign up and, with a few clicks of the mouse or taps in the screen, configure your device to watch the shows. Alternatively, you may configure your home router to allow all your home network devices to access TNT.
A sophisticated technology that lies behind Smart DNS allows you to watch TNT by redirecting part of your traffic responsible for your location via our dedicated servers. Your connection speed remains unchanged so you can still access your local websites and your connection speed is not affected. Your browser, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, gaming console and many other devices can access geo-located US version of TNT.
Is TNT Free?
To access TNT’s content, you’ll need to sign up using your US cable provider’s credentials.
Can I Stream TNT Live without a Cable Subscription?
Yes, you can. You can access live content from TNT using services like Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, Youtube TV, among others.

You don’t need cable to watch TNT. You can watch TNT live and on-demand using any of the following TV streaming services: Sling TV, Hulu Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, and YouTube TV.
These services will let you watch TNT Shows like The Alienist, Good Behavior, and more as they air or even on-demand. TNT is also an important channel for hockey and basketball fans as they air nationally televised NBA games and NHL Games.
The Cheapest Way To Watch TNT: SlingTV
Sling TV is the most affordable way to watch TNT. TNT is a part of both the “orange” and “blue” package, each costing $35 a month. Sling offers promotions when signing up for its service. If you decide to keep Sling after the promotion, you can cancel at any time as there are no contracts or long-term commitments.
Sling TV provides a live stream of TNT, so you can watch exactly what would be airing on TNT, just as if you had cable. Some episodes of its shows are available on-demand, as well.
We recommend picking up the “Blue” package over the “Orange” unless you want ESPN and other Disney Owned channels. The Blue channel package tends to have an overall better channel selection and stream to 3 devices simultaneously. The Orange plan only allows one stream at a time. You could opt to subscribe to both plans for $50 per month.
Sling TV is available on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and more, so it’s not a problem to enjoy TNT on a TV, tablet, computer, or other smart device.
TNT on DIRECTV STREAM
DIRECTV STREAM is another way you can watch TNT. Channel packages with TNT start at $69.99 per month. A subscription to DIRECTV STREAM includes the following:
- watch 20 streams simultaneously per subscription
- a cloud-based DVR
- channels like TNT and more
- supported on AppleTV, Android TV, Roku, Amazon FireTV, and more
Watch TNT on Hulu
Personally, use Hulu to watch live TNT online. Previously Hulu was known for its vast on-demand streaming library. However, they also offer Hulu Live TV service, including live TNT Streaming and most top channels typically found on cable. Hulu Live TV starts at $69.99 after signing up and includes the following features:
The basic package comes with 50 hours of cloud DVR storage. (Upgrades available)
Watch on 2 screens at once. (Upgrades available)
It comes with 6 customizable profiles
Includes entire Hulu On-Demand streaming library
Not only will you be able to watch TNT live, but the included Hulu on-demand service will allow you to stream past seasons of TNT shows like Claws, Rizzoli & Isles, Good Behavior, and more. You can check out Hulu’s TNT On-demand page to see what’s available. You don’t have to subscribe to the live TV service to have access to Hulu’s On-Demand Streaming library. Those plans start at only $6.99 per month after a 30-day free trial.
With Hulu Live TV, you can watch TNT on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, and more.

Best VPN to watch TNT in Australia
Photo: TV Series Final |
A VPN, or virtual private network, encrypts a device’s internet traffic and routes it through an intermediary server in a location of the user’s choosing. This can allow Australians to access blocked content that’s geo-locked in their own country. It can also provide a private tunnel through which to use P2P filesharing applications.
The VPNs in this list also have servers with Australian IP addresses so you can connect to your favorite Aussie TV when abroad in addition to accessing geo-locked content (like US Netflix or BBC) from inside Australia.
1. NordVPN
NordVPN is one of the fastest VPNs around, and operates servers in 60 countries with multiple locations in the Asia-Pacific region. Meaning you have plenty of choice when it comes to Australian servers. This VPN excels at unblocking geo-restricted services and can bypass the Netflix proxy firewall in the US and Australia alike. It keeps zero logs of any kind and is based in Panama, where it is not subject to any data retention laws. NordVPN puts personal privacy first with AES 256-bit encryption and secure VPN servers.
NordVPN also offers special servers optimized for privacy and high-speed downloads, such as ultra-fast streaming, double hop VPN, Tor over VPN, and anti-DDoS.
2. Surfshark
Surfshark is a smaller provider that’s great for unblocking region-locked content like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer. It’s a great choice for families as it allows you to have unlimited simultaneous connections under a single account. That makes it a great budget option to share with trusted friends and family.
Surfshark allows P2P file-sharing on all server locations and keeps no logs of your online activity. Encryption is strong, and an automatic kill switch prevents unprotected traffic from leaving your device if the VPN secure connection drops. Live chat support is available 24/7.
Apps (or browser extensions) are available for Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, and Linux.
3. ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN operates more than 2,000 worldwide servers across 94 countries, with more than 20 in APAC alone. Torrenting is allowed on all servers. It’s consistently performed well in our unblocking tests and our speed tests so is a good option for streaming content. It can unblock both the US and Australian Netflix catalogs in a browser and the Netflix app.
It keeps no traffic logs and is based in the British Virgin Islands, where it is not subject to any user data retention laws. ExpressVPN makes apps for Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS, Linux (command line) and some wifi routers.
4. CyberGhost
CyberGhost operates a vast network of more than 6,400 servers, including 104 in Australia and more than 1000 in the US. It has a strong focus on unblocking streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. It’s also popular with torrenters and has a dedicated “Torrent Anonymously” option within its apps. Plus, speeds are excellent, making it a great all-rounder. CyberGhost doesn’t log user activity or record IP addresses. Apps are available for Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Australia VPNs to avoid
One of the biggest motivations for using a VPN is to increase your online security and the privacy of your digital footprint while online. Unfortunately, not all VPNs do this, and some can even inhibit or reduce your privacy.
Hola
Israel-based Hola isn’t a traditional VPN in which customers connect to a network of centralized servers owned by the VPN company. Instead, Hola users connect to each other, using other internet users’ idle bandwidth as part of a large peer-to-peer network. Obviously, this comes with some pretty big security and legal concerns. Users could use each other’s internet access for illegal activity, for example. In 2015, Hola used its user’s computers to create a botnet and perform a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. The abuse of customers’ trust happened entirely without their knowledge.
HideMyAss
In 2011, a LulzSec hacker was arrested for his involvement with an attack on the Sony Pictures website. Cody Kretsinger used HideMyAss VPN to conceal his online identity, but the company complied with a court order to hand over evidence that led to his arrest. This occurred despite the company’s pledge not to keep any logs of user activity. HMA says it does not log the contents of its users’ internet traffic, but it does keep detailed metadata logs that include users’ real IP addresses, which was enough to charge Kretsinger with a crime.
Now that the UK has passed the Snooper’s Charter, which requires service providers to maintain detailed logs of what their users do online, UK-based HideMyAss seems like the last service any privacy-conscious person would want to sign up for.
