Fast & Furious 9 latest teaser: How well prepare, What to expect from Cardi B’s role
8 months to complete one 4-second shot in the teaser
Director Justin Lin has revealed that a four-second shot in the latest Fast & Furious 9 teaser took eight months of preparation, Hindustantimes reported.
A new teaser for the upcoming Fast & Furious 9 was shared online on Monday, after having played during the Super Bowl. Director Justin Lin tweeted about the teaser's money shot, and gave an indication of the work that went into it.

The 30-second clip concluded with a shot of a car being thrown into a building, and smashing through on the other side, into a passing truck. While many believed the shot to have been executed via CGI, Lin took to Twitter to share some behind-the-scenes looks at how the stunt was actually performed, practically.
"One 4 second shot in #F9. 8 months of prep. 4 days of production. 3 cars destroyed. Work from over a hundred of the most dedicated and talented crew. Best job in the world!," he wrote. The clip showed actual cars being flung around set, and concluded with the final version.
Fast & Furious 9 was originally slated for release in 2020, but was pushed by a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It currently has a May release date, but the new teaser didn't explicitly mention this, choosing instead to go with 'coming soon to theatres'.
What to expect from Cardi B’s mysterious role
A new TV spot for Fast & Furious 9 has shifted into fifth gear and arrived online.
Led once again by Vin Diesel's iconic Dom Toretto, the movie welcomes back franchise favourites Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron and Dame Helen Mirren too.
Elsewhere, rapper Cardi B's mysterious character has also been revealed – the rapper is playing Leysa, "a woman with a connection to Dom's past".

Directed by Justin Lin (his fifth time working in the Fast universe), the official synopsis reads: "Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he's going to save those he loves most.
"His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they've ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom's forsaken brother, Jakob (played by The Suicide Squad's John Cena)."
As you can see from its first trailer, Fast 9 furiously burns rubber all across the globe in locations such as Tokyo, Edinburgh, Central America, London, Azerbaijan and Tbilisi.

Fast and Furious 9 release date
It was confirmed in March that the ninth outing in the hugely popular series would be delayed for an entire year to April 2, 2021 in the UK and US, Dgitalspy reported.
"It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May. While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration," a statement read.
However this date was then delayed again and Fast & Furious 9 will be out in cinemas on May 28, 2021. We hope.
Originally, the plan was for the tenth – and supposedly final – movie was going to be released on April 2021. That plan was obviously changed after the delays and Vin Diesel revealed his wish that we actually get a two-part finale to the series.
Well, Diesel only went and got his wish as it's been reported that the series will now end with two further movies that will have one overarching story. If all goes to plan, Lin will be back to direct and they'll feature all of the main cast members for an extended last ride.
John Cena (Jacob) is back in the role of Dom's foresaken brother in the film. |
Ludacris admitted that he's actually not that downhearted about the impending end of the franchise as it's gone on longer than he ever dreamed of.
"Personally I thought we were going to end on 10 but I'm not at all sad about it because you got to think about, I came out in 2 Fast 2 Furious. We never knew we would get a callback from 5, now I've been in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9," he said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"And now they're telling me there's going to be two more? I'm happy! To hell with being sad, don't be sad! I'm very happy."
Filming for the ninth movie took place between June and November 2019 in London, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Thailand and Georgia.
There's been no confirmation of when the final two movies might film or when they'll be released in cinemas, but don't expect a double helping of Fast & Furious in 2021. It'll likely be at least 2022 before the tenth movie is released.
In the meantime, you can watch the entire saga so far on Blu-ray.
