How Many Premier League Games Are Televised in 2024/2025?

Every season, there are 380 Premier League games, but only 200 will be shown on TV.

The story is the same for EFL games. In the Championship, League One, and League Two, there will be more than 1,650 games, but you will only be able to watch a little more than 1,000 of them.

The Saturday 3 p.m. blackout rule is a big reason for this. A law that says football games can't be shown on TV on that day from 2:25pm to 5:25pm.

That means there isn't a single subscription that will let you watch all of these games. The Premier League games will be shown by a mix of the following providers:

• Sky Sports – 128 Premier League matches

• TNT Sports – 52 Premier League matches, plus all Champions League games

• Amazon Prime – 20 Premier League matches

For the EFL, the entirety of games will be shown on Sky Sports. For Champions League football, you’ll need a TNT subscription.

Note: If you want to watch as many games as possible, it is not cheap. If you don't support one of the big teams, they'll be featured less frequently, potentially increasing the cost per match. Here's how you can pay less to support your team.

Why Are Premier League Games Not on TV?

Some Premier League games aren't shown on UK TV because they want to keep fans in the lower leagues and keep the market from getting too full.

♦ Protecting Lower League Attendance: Because of the 3pm blackout rule, no Premier League, Football League, or FA Cup game can be shown on TV in the UK on a Saturday from 2:45pm to 5:15pm.

Since lower league games start at 3 p.m. on Saturdays, the blackout is meant to get football fans to go to their local team's game instead of watching Premier League games on TV.

♦ Preventing Market Saturation: The Premier League only sells the rights to show about half of its games so that the games continue to be popular and fetch high prices. Because of this, UK TV doesn't show even games that aren't blocked at 3 p.m., like those played during the week or on Sunday afternoons.

The league's former CEO, Richard Scudamore, wanted to make sure that there weren't too many games on TV and that people wanted to watch them. So, the Premier League could keep the market competitive, which let it charge Sky, TNT, and Amazon more for the rights to show its games.

How to Watch the Premier League 2024/2025 on UK TV for Free or Cheapest Ways?

Only selected 200 games are broadcast on TV. These will be split between Sky Sports, TNT Sport and Amazon Prime. Free to air highlights will once again be on the BBC.

You can see selections, as they’re announced, on the Premier League website:

Which Subscription is Best for Watching Premier League 2024 - 2025 on UK TV?

So, if you want to watch as many Premier League games as possible, you should get a Sky Sports subscription. You'll need to sign up for TNT Sports if you want to watch Champions League games as well as 52 more Premier League games.

You can join Now TV Sports for £34.99 a month if you're not already a Sky customer and just want Sky Sports. But if you time it right, you might get a great deal at the beginning.

Can you share a sports subscription?

Some TV plans let you watch games on more than one device at the same time:

With Discovery+, you can stream on four devices at the same time. If you let three other friends use the same login, the monthly fee will drop to £7.50 per person.

With a monthly pass, Now TV only lets you stream on one device. You can add "Now Boost" to your pass for £6 a month, though. You can stream on up to four devices at the same time. If you share a subscription with three other people, each of you will only pay £10.25 a month.

The terms and conditions of most subscription plans say that you can only share them with people who live in the same house.

But if you can split your plan with three roommates or family members, you can pay only £17.75 a month each. This means that you can watch all Champions League games as well as most Premier League games.

But some providers don't let you log in more than once. If you're not sure, contact them or look at the terms of your plan.

The cheapest way to watch Premier League is to add it to an existing TV or broadband package

It would cost you £71 a month to pay for all of the Sky Sports and TNT Sports games that you want to watch.

If you already have broadband or TV, on the other hand, you might be able to save money if you switch providers.

♦ NOW

You can watch Sky Sports through NOW TV, Sky's online TV service. NOW TV has a variety of membership levels and the option to add fiber broadband to the package. The rolling monthly Sports plan for football fans costs £34.99, but it only costs £26 if you sign up for the 6-Month Saver Membership.

Every Sky Sports channel is available with NOW's Sports plans

This comes with all 12 Sky Sports channels, all Sky Sports+ streams, Full HD1, and a free month of Boost. After that, it costs £6 a month unless you cancel. You can get the Sports plans along with Sky-powered fiber broadband, which starts at £26 a month for 75Mbps.

You can also get a Day Membership from NOW for £14.99 and watch football for 24 hours without committing to a long-term plan.

♦ Virgin Media

People who already have Virgin Media TV or broadband can add the Sky Sports HD service for just £34.99 a month through Virgin Media Stream Premium. This will let you watch all of Sky's Premier League games. You can stop this extra subscription whenever you want.

Sky Sports is also available through Virgin Media's TV and broadband bundles that are full of fun things to do. Virgin's plans cost more than Sky's, but they come with hundreds of TV channels, the option of Sky Sports or Sky Cinema, a free Netflix account, and superfast fiber broadband with speeds of up to 1,130Mbps.

Virgin Media members can watch Sky Sports with a packed TV and broadband bundle

As low as £59.99 a month, the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports HD bundle comes with 362Mbps broadband and eight Sky Sports channels. This is the best deal we've seen this year. There is also the Biggest Combo bundle, which comes with 362Mbps broadband, Sky's Entertainment channels, and both Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.

Virgin's Mega Volt bundle has more than 230 TV channels, such as Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. It's a plan with all the bells and whistles. You can get Netflix, an unlimited 5G O2 sim, and superfast 1,130Mbps fiber broadband with this plan for £84.99 a month.

Virgin Media also offers TNT Sports for £18 a month. This is £10 more than Sky's cheapest sports package, but it comes with fiber broadband.

♦ Sky Sport

In case you already have Sky TV or Sky Q, you can add Sky Sports for just £22 a month.

A new deal from Sky has the Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV, and Netflix bundle at its "lowest price ever." This comes just in time for the new season. The provider has cut the price of the package from £52 a month to £43 a month and is including Ultra HD for free.

Members save £216, plus an extra £119.76 since Netflix is included for free, for a huge savings of £335.76 over the course of 24 months. This year, Sky is even more appealing to customers because it has added "50 percent more sport" to its schedule. There will be 1,400 live matches from the Premier League, the EFL, and other leagues.

It also just started a brand-new channel called Sky Sports+. Sky Sports members can watch hundreds of hours of live streams on this channel, which has four times as many EFL games and shows all 72 teams more than 20 times a season. Inside the Sky Sports package is a brand-new box called Sky Stream. This box streams live and on-demand shows to your TV without the need for a satellite dish or aerial.

People who want a new smart TV to watch football can get Sky Glass, a 4K QLED smart TV with Sky built in, for as little as £14 if they pay for it over time. For an extra £20, they can also add a Sky Sports membership. Sky subscribers can add TNT Sports to their plans for an extra £25 a month, which lets them stream even more Premier League games as well as all Champions League and Europa League games.

♦ BT

If you've had BT Broadband for a long time and used to have BT Sport, you might be able to get Discovery+ and all the football games that come with it for free. Check the BT website to see if you are eligible.

Anyone who has BT TV can get a free Discovery+ membership.

For just £18 a month, instead of the usual £29.99, you can add a Discovery+ membership to your BT broadband plan if you are not eligible for this.

Get in touch with BT to see what deals they have for you.

TNT Sports

During the 2024–25 season, TNT Sports will show one Premier League game every week. Some of the big games that will be shown on the platform are Brighton vs. Manchester United on August 24, West Ham vs. Chelsea on September 21, and Newcastle vs. Manchester City on September 28.

Also, every Champions League and Europa League game will be shown on TNT, which used to be BT Sports. Fans will need to subscribe to the service in order to watch this season's biggest European games. With a Discovery+ subscription, you can stream TNT Sports. You can sign up for Discovery+ through Amazon's Prime Video for £30.99, and you can cancel your subscription at any time.

NBA, Premiership Rugby, MotoGP, UFC, Boxing, WWE, and more are also shown on TNT. In addition to all of this great sports action, Discovery+ members can try Amazon Prime for free for 30 days. Prime Video has a huge selection of hit movies and TV shows, and eligible Amazon purchases can be delivered for free the next day.

♦ Amazon Prime Video

Amazon will show 20 games on its Prime Video streaming service over the Christmas holiday, from December 3–4 and December 26. Amazon has some big games coming up, like Arsenal vs. Manchester United and Newcastle United vs. Liverpool.

This is good news for Amazon Prime members, who can now stream any game for free. Amazon Prime costs £8.99 a month, or £95 a year, for people who don't already have a subscription. You can try it for free for 30 days and get a month of Prime for free.

This gives you access to the Premier League and a lot of other great things, like free delivery on HelloFresh orders for a year, Amazon Music Prime, and next-day delivery.

A Cheaper Alternative for Smartphones

Now TV sometimes has cheaper "mobile passes" that let you watch Sky Sports games on your phone only. Once a month, they cost £5.99.

If you don't mind having a smaller screen, keep an eye on the page for Now TV passes. Mobile passes aren't always available, but Now TV usually does sell them during sales.

The Best FREE Streaming Websites to Watch Premier League 2024/2025 Online

We have identified the optimal websites (and apps) for live streaming the Premier League by conducting rigorous testing of both legitimate EPL streaming websites and the most widely used free live streams.

Only a select few websites met our stringent criteria: they are completely legitimate, offer live games in high-definition quality, provide an exceptional user experience without any buffering, and broadcast every single Premier League game.

Top 5 Best FREE And Legit Websites to Watch Premier League 2024/2025 Online

Best Free Ways to Watch Premier League in the UK in 2024-2025
Best FREE Premier League Live Streaming Websites And Apps

1. Setanta Sports

Commentary Language: None

Price: ~£2.35 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: Ukraine

Compatible VPNs: NordVPN

Official Website: https://setantasports.com/

Every Premier League game can be watched in Full HD on the best streaming site for about £2.35 a month.

We did a lot of research and found that Setanta Sports is by far the best website to watch all 380 Premier League games. The service is one of a kind because it offers full coverage, is easy to use, and is cheap.

Even though it shows more than three times as many games as Sky Sports and TNT Sports, Setanta Sports is over 90% cheaper.

Our streaming experience with Setanta Sports was great. There were no buffering issues, and all of the games were shown in HD. The videos also loaded quickly, and clicking on "Premier League" from the home screen made it easy to find the game.

Any payment card can be used on the platform, and its app can be downloaded all over the world. You don't have to make a separate account in the app store or use a third-party payment service, like you do with Peacock and DAZN.

Bad thing about Setanta Sports is that the commentary is not in English. It is in Ukrainian by default.

But if you choose English as the language, Setanta Sports will turn off all commentary and only show the noise from the stadium. This was better for us than hearing commentary in a language we didn't understand, like Spanish on DAZN.

To access Setanta, you will need an IP address from Ukraine, and the service blocks VPNs very strictly. In our tests, only NordVPN worked, so you only have a few options.

2. Peacock

Commentary Language: English

Price: ~£4.75 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: USA

Compatible VPNs: CyberGhost, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, PIA VPN, PrivadoVPN, PrivadoVPN Free, PrivateVPN, Surfshark, Windscribe Free

Official Website: https://www.peacocktv.com/

A cheap and easy-to-use website for streaming Premier League games at 3 p.m.

Peacock is a great streaming service from NBC that is based in the US. It lets you watch live Premier League games in 1080p at 60 frames per second. It has English commentary and analysis by well-known experts such as Peter Drury and Lee Dixon.

We tested a lot of websites that stream the Premier League, and Peacock had the best interface. The tile interface looks great and feels high-end. If you click on the link under "Peacock Picks," you can quickly get to the live stream of the game.

However, if you don't pay for Peacock Premium, which costs about £9.50 a month, you will have to watch 30 seconds of ads before the video starts.

Not all Premier League games are shown on Peacock, unlike the other services on this list. We did find that it showed every game at 3 p.m., which makes it a great choice if you only want to watch games that aren't on Sky, TNT, or Amazon Prime Video.

Sadly, you need a US payment method to access Peacock if you don't have a credit card. To get one, make an account on Apple or Google in the US and buy a gift card for the US app store. However, our research showed that there is a way around this problem: you can subscribe to Peacock through its website using a credit card from any country.

3. TOD

Commentary Language: English

Price: ~£14.00 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: UAE

Compatible VPNs: Windscribe Pro

Official Website: https://www.tod.tv/en/sports

A site for streaming the EPL that is easy to use and has English-language commentary.

FORD is an online-only service from beIN Sports, which is a well-known live sports broadcaster. It shows all 380 Premier League games, and unlike Setanta Sports, TOD has great English commentators and analysts.

Famous commentators, such as Richard Keys and Nigel De Jong, give their thoughts on every game. The stream starts out in Arabic, but you can switch to the English feed by clicking on the music note icon in the bottom right corner and choosing "Audio Track 2."

But because of how badly it streams, TOD is not even close to Setanta Sports. The video stream took more than 50 seconds to load, and all of our testers said the quality was very bad.

After doing more research, we found that TOD's best resolution is 720p, but it often dropped to a poor 360p. This happened even though our download speed on Windscribe's server in the UAE was much faster than the 5Mbps needed for HD video.

Because TOD is hard to use, we only suggest it if you want to watch every Premier League game, not just those that start at 3 p.m., with English commentary and pundits. In that case, Setanta Sports or Peacock would be better choices.

4. Skylink

Commentary Language: Czech

Price: ~£10.30 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: Czech Republic

Compatible VPNs: Windscribe Pro

Official Website: livetv.skylink.cz

For a low price, it shows every game in Full HD at 60 frames per second.

Skylink is a great choice for people who care about both broadcast quality and cost-effectiveness. The streaming site, on the other hand, is very good at finding and blocking VPNs, and you have to change your account region in order to download on streaming devices.

Skylink is the only service that doesn't ask for a local phone number or payment information even though it shows every game. Setanta Sports doesn't check it, but we were able to easily make an account with Skylink from the UK without any problems.

Every Premier League game can be streamed through the service, which only costs £10.30 a month (though it goes up to £13.80 after 3 months).

The live matches had great video quality, much better than the free streaming sites we used, which would often buffer or drop out during busy times. Skylink shows all of its games in Full HD and at 60 frames per second, which makes the experience much better than its price would suggest.

One of the most annoying things is that there is only Czech commentary. To get around this, we synced live English radio commentary on a different device. This isn't as convenient as services like Peacock and Fubo, which offer integrated English audio tracks.

5. DAZN

Commentary Language: Spanish

Price: ~£26.00 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: Spain

Compatible VPNs: ExpressVPN & NordVPN

Official Website: dazn.com

Streaming service that focuses on sports and has Spanish commentary.

DAZN is a well-designed website for streaming videos that focuses on live sports. But when we used it, DAZN wasn't even close to being as good as the other Premier League websites.

Every Premier League game is shown on both DAZN and Setanta Sports, but DAZN costs more than £23.00 a month. Another thing is that DAZN streams in 720p instead of 1080p, even though it costs more.

Also, you need a Spanish DAZN account to watch the Premier League on DAZN. If you registered your account in a different country, like the UK, you will see a padlock icon and not be able to stream the game. To get around this, you will need to buy a gift card and make a new account.

Since EPL games can only be watched on DAZN's Spanish library, all of the commentary and pundits for each game are in Spanish. You can't choose a different audio track like you can with TOD, and you can't mute it like you can with Setanta Sports to only hear the stadium noise.

Still, we liked DAZN's MultiView feature and wished it was available everywhere. When we used the streaming service and more than one game was going on at the same time, like on Saturday at 3 p.m., we could see up to four games at once, which let us keep up with what was happening in each one.

Fubo

Hard-to-access Premier League content platform with 4K live streams.

Commentary Language: English

Price: ~£24.00 per month

Stream Type: Live stream

IP Address Required: Canada

Compatible VPNs: NordVPN, Surfshark & Windscribe Free

Official Website: fubo.tv

Fubo Canada is a great Premier League that broadcasts three 4K games per week. The video feed was better on every device than Setanta and Peacock, which stream in Full HD.

Fubo Canada is hard to access, so it's low on our list. The service is unavailable without a Canadian payment method or a friend who does.

Fubo blocked all payments made with app store gift cards, international credit cards, and third-party payment services. Subscription was only successful with a Canadian debit card.

With English commentary and analysis by experts like Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves, the service is great to use.

The service lacks full match replays, which is annoying. Unfortunately, you must remember to record each match before it starts.

Top Illegal EPL Streaming Sites to Avoid

Based on our research, a lot of popular Premier League live stream sites host content that isn't licensed, which means that it's against the law to access them. In any case, you should never use them.

All of these sites also have links to third-party sites that aren't checked by the owners, and some of those sites have malware that could infect your device. They are much worse for users than legal alternatives because they have annoying ads, bad interface design, and possible security risks.

1. Hesgoal

Why you should avoid it:

Matches are hosted illegally

Frequent offline video streams

Forces you to disable ad blocker

Pop-up ads and unskippable pre-roll video ads

2. EPLsite

Why you should avoid it:

Matches are hosted illegally

Regular video buffering

Numerous on-page ads

3. TOTALSPORTEK

Why you should avoid it:

How to Watch EPL Games for Cheaper

The Premier League can charge broadcasters more to show games in the UK because that's where the most people want to see them.

We found that in the US, NBC pays just under £1 million per game, while in the UK, Sky pays over £13 million per game.

Sky has to charge a lot more for subscriptions in order to make money. At only £4.75 a month, Peacock (NBC) is much cheaper than Sky Sports, which costs around £35.00.

Streaming services also set their prices based on the country where the content is available. Because people in the UK make more money than people in Ukraine, you pay more for a service in the UK, like Sky Sports, than for one in Ukraine, like Setanta Sports.

The chart below shows how much money you can save by using a real website to stream Premier League games. We added the price of NordVPN to the price of Setanta Sports because you'll need to connect to a VPN server to watch it.
