Overview of Premier League 2024/2025 Fixtures

Note: Weekend and Bank Holiday matches are 15:00 and midweek matches are 19:45 local time unless otherwise stated.

Premier League 2023/24 ended with a convincing championship for Man City. Meanwhile, fans felt somewhat regretful when Arsenal finished second in a row for the second year in a row.

These two teams, along with Liverpool and Aston Villa, won the Champions League spot. Man Utd was disappointing when they finished 8th, but the FA Cup championship helped coach Erik ten Hag and his team qualify for the Europa League.

That means that Man Utd and Tottenham have a place in Europe's second-tier competition, while Chelsea in 6th place must participate in the Conference League. Most recently, the Premier League also announced the 2024/25 season schedule with a total of 380 matches and attractive promising matches in the first round.

Specifically, Manchester United - Fulham will be the first match, taking place on August 17. It is important to know that this is the 8th consecutive season, the Red Devils will start the Premier League by playing at home.

On the contrary, for the fourth consecutive season, Man City will begin the journey to defend the Premier League championship away from home. In fact, they have not opened the Premier League season at the Etihad since the 2016/17 season when they beat Sunderland 2-1.

The confrontation between Chelsea and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge Stadium on Sunday, August 18 is the most notable. As the defending champions, Man City has lost to Tottenham and defeated West Ham and Burnley in the last 3 seasons.

Two of the three newly promoted teams will play at home in the opening week of the 2024/25 season, with Ipswich hosting Liverpool. Leicester City will play at home against Tottenham, while Southampton will play Newcastle United at the opponent's field. The Premier League season 2024/25 will end on May 25, 2025 with the final match being the encounter between Wolverhampton - Brentford. Also in the final round, there are not many exciting matches because the "Big Six" will face moderate opponents.

Premier League 2024/25 will start just 5 weeks after EURO 2024 ends. Fans will have to wait until December 14 to watch the first Manchester derby of the season at Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, Liverpool travels to Old Trafford in the third week of the season and welcomes Man Utd at Anfield right after the new year.

Coach Enzo Maresca will take his new team Chelsea to face Leicester City on November 23. This is a reunion worth waiting for when this coach moved to take charge at Stamford Bridge right after helping the Foxes promote to the Premier League.

Key Dates for Premier League 2024/2025

The notorious deadline for the 2023–24 profit and sustainability rules (PSR) reporting period fell on June 30, the last day of the transfer window, which officially started on Friday, June 14. On Friday, August 30, at 11 p.m. BST (6 p.m. ET), the window ends.

On Wednesday, January 1, the winter transfer window will start and close on Monday, February 3.

A week after the Community Shield, on the weekend of August 16–18, the new Premier League season begins. That matchup is an FA Cup final from the previous season, as well as another Manchester derby.

All ten Premier League games will be played simultaneously on Sunday, May 25, to mark the conclusion of the season.

On Saturday, January 11, the FA Cup's third round will see the entry of Premier League teams. Midway through August, the Carabao Cup will get underway, with the seven surviving clubs earning a bye to the third round, and Premier League teams that are not participating in Europe going into the second round.

On the other hand, the recently expanded Champions League kicks off on September 17. September 25 is the commencement of the Europa League, while October 3 is the start of the Conference League.

Chelsea vs Manchester City (Sunday 18 August 2024)

The match that people are most interested in watching is the one mentioned above. This is Chelsea's new coach Enzo Maresca's first challenge, in addition to the fact that several of the world's best players are in attendance.

Enzo Maresca will find it challenging to start the game against Man City. Image: Getty

Coach Enzo Maresca joined the London club as soon as he helped Leicester City return to the Premier League, leaving King Power. It is anticipated that the Italian tactician would assemble a youthful but potent squad, prepared to contend for championships the following year.

Enzo Maresca will, regrettably, have to play Man City, the Premier League champion for four years running. The Blues will be the first team to take against Pep Guardiola's army in the pursuit of their third championship, while the Citizens, with their virtual style of play and superstars in the lineup, are prepared to destroy all opponents in the championship race. Five times in a row.

Man Utd vs Fulham (Friday 16 August 2024)

As Man Utd's board continues to give the Dutch tactician more chances in the last year of his contract, coach Erik ten Hag's future has become clear after days of uncertainty. This decision was likely made in response to the FA Cup championship victory over "neighbors" Man City; it is regarded as a just reward for the "Red Devils"' outstanding performance at Wembley.

Ten Hag's job will be to assist the team in regaining its glory starting with the tournament's opening encounter against rival Fulham. Coach Marco Silva's squad performed admirably the previous season, particularly when facing elite opponents like Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal.

Few people probably remember when Alex Iwobi helped Fulham win at Old Trafford by kicking goalkeeper Onana's goal in the last moments of extra time. For this reason, both sides will put on a spectacular show for the viewers in the aforementioned match.

Other major players will begin a lengthy campaign in the meanwhile, but their matches should be simple.

While Liverpool and Tottenham travel to Ipswich and Leicester City, respectively, two teams that have only recently "gotten their feet wet" in the Premier League, Arsenal will host Wolves at the Emirates home field.

The first game between Manchester United and Fulham will formally launch the Premier League on August 17.

Opening week's schedule

On June 18 at 9:00 am BST, the Premier League schedule was announced. The match for the coveted Friday night opener between Manchester United, who finished in eighth place, and Fulham, who finished in thirteenth place, was generated by the mysterious fixture computer. There's more action planned for the remainder of the weekend. Liverpool pays a visit to Ipswich Town on Saturday lunchtime. When the Merseyside giants last visited Portman Road, they won 6-0 thanks to braces from Emile Heskey.

On a busy opening Saturday, Arsenal hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers while newly promoted Southampton travels north to Newcastle United. On Sunday, August 18, the main matchup of the opening weekend features Chelsea taking on the reigning champions, Manchester City. Enzo Maresca, the new manager of the Blues, will play his first competitive matchup against former teammate and mentor Pep Guardiola.
