The FBI released new video of the unknown suspect who planted bombs outside party headquarters the night before the January 6, 2021, attack.
The video shows the suspect wearing a light hoodie, mask, and Nike sneakers, planting bombs around 7:54 p.m. outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Authorities think the same person also planted bombs near the Republican National Committee headquarters at the same time.
The suspect is about 5'7" tall, according to the FBI.
Police are offering a reward of up to $500,000 for information leading to an arrest.
The new information came out during a time of increased political violence in the country.
In December, the FBI arrested a Virginia man with 150 homemade bombs who used photos of President Joe Biden for target practice. He allegedly supported political killings.
President-elect Donald Trump faced at least two, maybe three, assassination attempts last year. One attempt led to the death of one of his rally attendees in Pennsylvania.
Authorities believe the same individual also planted explosives near the Republican National Committee headquarters at the time. |
Former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was also a target of political violence. A man broke into her San Francisco home intending to kill her days before the 2022 midterm elections. Instead, the suspect, David DePape, 44, held her husband hostage and nearly beat him to death with a hammer. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Former New York City mayor and billionaire media mogul Michael Bloomberg was also nearly attacked in February 2022. A Colorado man broke into his Colorado ranch intending to kill him. Instead, the suspect, Joseph Lee Beecher, kidnapped his housekeeper before authorities rescued her and arrested him. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
