Prince George of Cambridge is third in the line of succession to the British throne, behind his grandfather Prince Charles and father Prince William. He was born on July 22, 2013, to Prince William and Kate Middleton in the same hospital where Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were born. His birth, which was a major event in the history of the British royal family, attracted media attention.

The ‘Prince George Effect,’ also known as the ‘Royal Baby Effect,’ popularized clothing and other artifacts associated with him. For the first time in history, a royal birth was marked by the issuance of commemorative coins. During his christening, for the second time in British history, three generations of the royal family in line for the throne were present (Prince George, Prince William, and Prince Charles).

Though he is destined to be the king, his parents have said that they would want a normal childhood for him. In 2017, he was enrolled at the private ‘Thomas's School’ in Battersea where he is known as ‘George Cambridge.’ His official title is ‘His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge,’ taken from his father’s title ‘Duke of Cambridge.’ As per royal lineage, he is destined to reign as King George VII of the United Kingdom.

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born at 4:24 PM on 22 July 2013, at ‘Saint Mary’s Hospital’ in Paddington, West London, England, to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. He was 8 pounds and 6 ounces (3.8 kg) at birth. Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were born in the same hospital to Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Royal House of London announced, earlier than is customary, that his mother was expecting when she had to be admitted in hospital for pregnancy related nausea and morning sickness in December 2012. Thanks to the announcement, his birth became a much-anticipated event that garnered media attention.

Prior to the official announcement of his birth, Prince William and Kate Middleton broke tradition by introducing Prince George to the world when they greeted the crowd gathered outside the hospital as they left with their new born baby to their home in Kensington Palace.

News of the royal birth was displayed officially on a traditional easel outside the Buckingham Palace. Gun salutes in Green Park and the Tower of London, coupled with bells of Westminster Abbey and other churches, announced his arrival with fanfare. For the first time in history, a royal birth was marked by the issuance of commemorative coins from the ‘Royal Mint,’ ‘Royal Canadian Mint,’ and ‘Royal Australian Mint.’

The lullaby ‘Sleep On’ was composed by the Welsh composer Paul Mealor as a gift for the royal baby. The lyrics were written by Brendan Graham and the song was recorded by New Zealand singer Hayley Westenra.

He was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Chapel Royal at Saint James’s Palace on 23 October 2013. As is customary, water from the River Jordan was used for the ceremony. The Royal mint issued a set of commemorative coins to mark the occasion.

It was announced that he would have seven godparents including; Zara Tindall, Cousin of Prince William and daughter of Princess Anne; Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a former private secretary of the royal couple; Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson and William van Cutsem, friends of William and Kate; and Earl Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster.

During his christening, for the first time in 119 years, three generations of the royal family in line for the throne were present (Prince George, Prince William, and Prince Charles).

His first birthday was celebrated based on the theme of children’s author Beatrix Potter who is related to his maternal ancestors. The occasion was marked by a large gathering of the royals.

Prince George: Education

George's formal education began in January 2016, when, at the age of two, he began attending the Westacre Montessori School Nursery, near his family home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk. He attended his first day of primary school on 7 September 2017 at the Thomas's School in Battersea. He attends the school under the name of George Cambridge.

Official appearances

George embarked on his first royal tour with his parents in April 2014, during which the Cambridges spent three weeks in New Zealand and Australia. Although he only appeared twice, the BBC described the "nine-month-old future king" as "the star of the show". Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott predicted in Parliament House, Canberra, that George would one day be welcomed there as King of Australia. In June 2015, he made his first public appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following the Trooping the Colour parade marking the Queen's Official Birthday.

On 22 April 2016, George met U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama. He was photographed with a rocking horse that the Obamas had given him when he was born. The encounter later prompted Barack Obama to joke that "Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe... a clear breach of protocol." George and his younger sister, Charlotte, accompanied their parents on a tour of Canada in September 2016, and on a diplomatic visit to Poland and Germany in July 2017.

In March 2020, Prince George joined his siblings, Charlotte and Louis, in an online video to applaud key workers during the coronavirus pandemic. In September 2020, the children met David Attenborough; Kensington Palace subsequently released a video of them asking Attenborough questions regarding environmental conservation. In December 2020, they made their first red carpet appearance accompanying their parents to the London Palladium for a performance of a pantomime held to thank key workers for their efforts during the pandemic.

In 2021, he and his parents attended the England–Italy final of UEFA Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium in London. He was referred to as a "good-luck charm" after England won an earlier game he attended.

The "Prince George effect", sometimes known as the "royal baby effect", is a term used to describe an uptick in sales of clothing and other products used by George. In 2016, the dressing gown that he wore while meeting President Obama sold out after he was seen wearing it. In September 2017 the news that the Prince's school had served a Le Puy green lentil dish resulted in a spike in the sales of the legume. He was ranked number 49 on GQ's "50 Best Dressed Men in Britain" list in 2015. In 2018, George became the youngest person to appear on Tatler's best-dressed list.

George's parents have been adamant about maintaining their son's privacy as he grows up. In August 2015, Kensington Palace stated that they wanted all global media to stop taking unauthorised photographs of George, saying that "a line [had] been crossed" in paparazzi methods of locating and photographing him, including surveilling the family and sending children to bring George into view.

In July 2018, an ISIS supporter and propagandist who had encouraged an attack on George's school in October 2017 was jailed for life with a minimum of 25 years.

In the British satirical sketch programme Newzoids then toddler Prince George is depicted as a rebellious, foul mouthed character with a lewd sense of humour. The 2016 children's book Winnie-the-Pooh Meets the Queen, written in honour of the 90th birthdays of both Queen Elizabeth II and the fictional character of Winnie-the-Pooh, features a cameo appearance from Prince George, whom Piglet presents a red balloon. The 2021 animated sitcom The Prince stars a fictionalised eight-year-old Prince George (voiced by showrunner Gary Janetti) who makes life difficult both for his family and for the British monarchy.

Prince George Net Worth: One of The "Richest Kids"

Prince George will one day be the King of England after his father Prince William's turn is up.

The eight-year-old football-mad Royal is currently third in line for the throne so will have a while to wait but he won't be short of things to do in the meantime if reports are to be believed.

According to Luxatic.com, Prince George is the richest kid in the world and when you consider how much money he's reputably worth and eventually stands to gain, it's no surprise.

The pocket-sized Royal is reportedly worth over $3 billion (£2.25bn) despite not having a job.

As is the case with other members of the Royal Family, Prince George’s net worth isn’t calculated by the amount of money he currently has, rather what he stands to inherit.

But where George gets some of his value is through the effect he has on the global economy, specifically in fashion.

The 'Royal effect' is the name ascribed to a peculiar phenomenon whereby any clothes that Royal's wear publically instantly sell out as fans try to emulate them.

Aside from fashion, one day George is expected to have access to the wealth afforded to the British monarch which will swell his finances further.

As King, George will have access to funds such as the Duchy of Lancaster, as well as money from the Government-allocated Sovereign Grant.

As Prince Charles is the current Duke of Cornwall, he has access to his own funding from the Duchy of Cornwall, as has been the case for male heirs to the throne for centuries reports the Express.
