Who is Jeff Baena? Aubrey Plaza Mourns Husband's Death
Jeff Baena, 47, who was also a screenwriter, died by suicide, based on Los Angeles medical examiner records seen by E! News. Baena was found dead in a home in the city on Jan. 3.

Baena, who graduated from New York University's film school, often worked with Aubrey Plaza, who starred in his films including his first movie, Life After Beth in 2014, as well as Joshy, The Little Hours, and Spin Me Round. He also co-wrote the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees with director David O. Russell.
Baena and Plaza, 40, met in 2011 and married in 2020. The White Lotus actress confirmed their marriage the following year while they were working on the movie Spin Me Round.
"So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena," Plaza wrote on Instagram in May 2021, "for dreaming up another film that takes us to Italy to cause some more trouble."
Baena and Plaza had been married since 2021 and frequently worked together on projects, with Plaza starring in several of Baena's films, including "Life After Beth," "The Little Hours" and "Spin Me Round."
Plaza, 40, rose to fame playing April Ludgate on the television series "Parks and Recreation" and was nominated for an Emmy for her role on "The White Lotus."
