IMAX + Apple TV bring Formula 1 live to theaters in 2026
IMAX is teaming up with Apple TV to screen select 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship races live in IMAX theaters across the United States. The partnership is being billed as a first-of-its-kind collaboration, with five marquee Grands Prix set to play live on at least 50 IMAX screens nationwide.
This rollout also lines up with a major U.S. broadcast shift: Apple TV begins its first season as Formula 1’s official U.S. broadcaster in 2026, with Apple promising full coverage across the race weekend.
IMAX says participating locations and ticket availability will be announced beginning this spring.
Which F1 races will be shown live in IMAX?
According to IMAX’s announcement, these are the five Formula 1 races that will be presented live in IMAX in the U.S.:
• Miami Grand Prix (Miami)
• Monaco Grand Prix (Monaco)
• British Grand Prix (Silverstone)
• Italian Grand Prix (Monza)
• United States Grand Prix (Austin)
These events are some of the most recognizable stops on the calendar: a modern U.S. showpiece (Miami), two historic European pillars (Monaco, Monza), the U.K.’s home of fast, classic racing (Silverstone), and the flagship U.S. race in Austin.
Live schedule: Dates and U.S. start times (ET/CT/MT/PT)

How the IMAX screenings fit into Apple TV’s F1 coverage
Apple’s U.S. rights deal means Apple TV will carry every practice, qualifying session, Sprint session, and Grand Prix for the 2026 season.
In other words: IMAX is a special “big-screen event” window, not the only way to watch.
Motorsport.com reports Apple has also launched a dedicated F1 hub/channel experience in the Apple TV ecosystem for the season, aimed at making live weekends and replays easier to find.
Tickets and participating theaters
Right now, the key details are:
-
At least 50 IMAX locations across the U.S. will participate.
-
The theater list and ticket availability will be announced beginning this spring.
If you’re planning coverage (or just trying to lock seats early), the most practical approach is to watch for:
-
IMAX’s “F1” landing page referenced in the release (once updated with theater listings)
-
Apple TV’s F1 section for the live-event tiles and reminders
