Japanese Fight Pass

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has launched its Fight Pass over-the-top (OTT) streaming service in Japan, with the platform adapted for the local market.

The Japanese Fight Pass features a new interface written entirely in the native language and local-language search terms to access content, as well as Japanese commentary. Subscribers also have access to new original programmes, featuring Japanese subtitles.

In addition to UFC's live and on demand content, the service will include access to live events from other combat sports.

As part of the rollout, subscribers will be able to watch the upcoming UFC Fight Night, the fourth and final instalment of the behind-closed-doors Fight Island series, due to be held in Abu Dhabi on 26th July.

“Japan is a pioneer in the sport of MMA, with a fan base that is knowledgeable, sophisticated, and always hungry for more,” said Kevin Chang, senior vice president for UFC Asia. “We are excited to showcase all that UFC Fight Pass has to offer, including the very best in UFC, local and international MMA, and a variety of other combat sports events.”

The UFC continues its direct-to-consumer (DTC) push internationally. The promotion has already introduced the Fight Pass service to other major territories in Asia, including China and India.

In addition, the service will offer videos in 1080p resolution and also offers a multi-view experience to desktop users to watch multiple live streams simultaneously. Subscribers can also access the service’s 24/7 linear channel and Downloads-to-Go feature, allowing users to watch content offline.

Up to 7th August, new subscribers will be permitted a seven-day free trial. The service is priced at ¥2,799 (US$26.09) per month, while the annual package is priced at ¥26,899 (US$250.69).
