U.S Gas Price Today (June 6, 2022): Soar with No End in Sight
U.S Daily Gas Price Check (June 6, 2022) |
The average gas price in the US has spiked to nearly $5 a gallon early in the morning of June 6 and shows no sign of stopping.
The rising costs have forced many other families to leave the car at home during the long weekend, calling off trips so rising costs don't ensnare their inflation-affected wallets.
Nine states already have surpassed the $5 a gallon until Monday, and several others are just pennies away, according to AAA.
Drivers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon and Washington are now paying more than $5 a gallon. In California, the gas price today is more than $6 a gallon, the only state so far to reach that peak.
With gas prices continuing to climb like in the previous week in the U.S, it is likely that this new week, several other states will join the $5 club soon, including Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and others.
Gas prices have surged to nearly $10 a gallon in parts of California - the highest ever in history, it has been revealed, as costs continue to climb to new highs amid unprecedented inflation. The station, Schlafer’s Auto Repair, is just one of tens of thousands of stations that has seen its gasoline costs soar to astronomical heights during the Biden administration.
The U.S. state with the most expensive gas prices is still California. The lowest average price of gas in the United States is in Georgia. |

Diesel gas prices in the U.S also hit a new record Monday, reaching a national average price of $5.64.
The United States is the world’s biggest oil and natural gas producer, but it accounts for only about 12 percent of the global petroleum supply. The price of oil, the principal cost in gasoline, can still shoot up or tumble depending on events halfway around the world.
Russia and Ukraine war is a major reason that U.S. drivers are paying record prices for gasoline. But it's not the only cause of the spike.
