Every confirmed transfer deal of the winter window in England's top division

The 2021 January transfer window has opened and Premier League clubs are busy trying to sort out new signings before the deadline at the beginning of February, according to Goal.

Falling roughly mid-way through the season, the January window provides clubs with an opportunity to bring in reinforcements and to officially conclude previously agreed deals.

This season, there is plenty of intrigue around the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, while Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are always forces in the market.

The harsh reality in brutal City rises; has Chelsea boss walked into an ambush?

The city has found its stride, winning six Premier League matches in a row and 11 in all competitions. Across its past four Premier League games, it is 12-0, while it now leads the competition by one point with a game in hand, Fox Sports cites.

History tells us that a team of City’s caliber, in this sort of form and leading the Premiership heading into February, lifts the title in May.

That’s not to say that it will, though. These are no ordinary times and this, no ordinary competition.

Strange things are always waiting around the corner — how did Manchester United lose to last-placed Sheffield United at home on Thursday? How did Liverpool go from walloping Crystal Palace 7-0 as defending champions to winless in five-straight league matches?

The Reds arrested that slide Friday morning with an impressive two-goal defeat of Spurs, but problems persist. They’re still four points adrift of City, who have a game in hand and if they win that, they’re seven points clear of the champions.

Injuries remain an issue for Jurgen Klopp’s side too, with influential skipper Jordan Henderson forced to deputize in a center-back role and another potentially costly injured to Joel Matip.

A Matip absence would put further pressure on an already makeshift rearguard, and while Henderson has held his own his absence from Liverpool’s midfield robs Klopp of his perennial anchor.

This weird and wacky league could catch up with City yet but, on all available evidence, this is Pep Guardiola’s title to lose.

Title challengers do exist — they come chiefly in the form of Manchester United and Liverpool, while it would remiss to not mention the credentials of Leicester and Tottenham, too.

United is the closest challenger on the table, one point behind City but having played one more match. The Red Devils had returned to prominence with Paul Pogba enjoying something of a renaissance, while Bruno Fernandes has been a potent attacking force with 11 goals and seven assists.

But there can be no sugar-coating it; Thursday’s loss to Sheffield United at Old Trafford is a massive wake-up call to the fact that United is still a team prone to farce and not free of its defensive frailties.

Meanwhile, Liverpool has unraveled spectacularly in the space of five matches, losing to Southampton and Burnley while drawing with West Brom, Newcastle and United.

Jurgen Klopp’s side still surely has the quality to mount at least a vague title challenge, but the goals had inexplicably dried up in recent fixtures until the 3-1 win over Spurs on Friday, while the defensive reassurance of Virgil van Dijk is still sorely being missed.

Meanwhile, Leicester City is just two points back from City having not tasted league defeat since mid-December.
