Before securing a recording deal with Wood & Bone, Fraser had two studio albums released on Columbia Records: What to Do with Daylight (2003) and Albertine (2006). Flags, her third studio album, became her most commercially successful record to date when it was released in 2010. Her most recent album, Brutal Romantic, was made available through Vagrant Records in November 2014. Her records were given the 15 Platinum certification, making her one among the best-selling and most well-known New Zealand recording artists of all time. Fraser is a part of the Hillsong United, a band that performs Christian music.

Fraser has had success in her work for many years. Throughout that time, she has raised a lot of money for charity by highlighting numerous deserving causes and projects. Fraser launched a birthday campaign with charity: water in late 2010 while touring the United States in support of her third album Flags. Street first worked for Television New Zealand (TVNZ) in 2006 as an intern for six months. For TVNZ's coverage of the ANZ Championship and international netball, she served as the host. Gemma McCaw (née Flynn, born 2 May 1990) is a New Zealand field hockey player who has represented her country in three Summer Olympics (2008, 2012, and 2016).

As Gemma Flynn, she has competed for the New Zealand women's national field hockey team (the Black Sticks Women) since 2008, including for the team at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. In 2009 she was nominated for the FIH Women's Young Player of the Year. At both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, her team lost the bronze medal game and thus came fourth. Hayes was born to a South African mother and a New Zealander father in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. At the age of six months, the family moved to Milton in Otago, New Zealand. She has both a brother and a sister. She attended Tokomairiro High School for her studies. She attended the University of Otago and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2007 from Victoria University of Wellington in media and international relations.

She expressed the sadness of losing her father in song upon her return to New Zealand. One of those early compositions, "Hallelujah," was chosen as the winner of the US-based International Songwriting Competition in 2004.
