Top 10 Rarest American Girl Dolls Of All Time
1. BeForever Felicity Merriman
Felicity, the first doll added after the original three in 1986, was released in 1991. She is a tough and independent woman from colonial America just before the Revolutionary War. In 2002, American Girl discontinued carrying her in shops and catalogs, along with the clothing and furnishings that went with her. Since then, she may only be ordered online.
She was brought back in 2011 with a new appearance after many collectors resisted this. She was not formally retired till then. Resurrected in 2017, she was included in the BeForever collection in yet another style that, strangely, is the rarest version of her as it was only available for two years.

2. Girl of Today #6
The original Girl of Today/Truly Me doll, rather than one of the retiring historical figures, is the rarest American Girl Doll. One of the earliest dolls in the collection—then known as "Girl of Today"—was number six. She had fair skin, brown eyes, and long black hair with bangs. Though she was only available for purchase for two years, longer than many Girl of the Year dolls, her lack of popularity accounts for her rarity. Some collectors think this is because the doll in question resembled other dolls on the list too much. For whatever reason, American Girl gave her green eyes and blonde hair.
3. Truly Me 50
Among the rarest dolls released in 2009 is Truly Me 50. She has textured dark brown hair, brown eyes, and an Addy facial mold. She is unique in that, having only served for three years, she retired early in 2012.
She usually costs between $300 and $500 if you want to purchase her on eBay, Mercari, or any other used online marketplace.

4. Caroline Abbott
Born and raised in Sackets Harbor, New York, Caroline Abbott is a living embodiment of the War of 1812. She had her hair done in big, blond ringlets and was wearing a pink outfit. Compared to the Revolutionary or Civil Wars, not many people are familiar with that period of American history, even though her release occurred on the 200th anniversary of the war. Caroline was hence not very well-liked.
The attempt by both the French and the British to cut each other off from US trade and supplies was one of the primary causes of the War of 1812.
5. Truly Me 4/Just Like You 4
Because Just Like You 4 has an own facial mold known as the Asian face mold, she is the most distinctive American Girl doll. She was one of the initial Just Like You dolls, first introduced in 1995. When she was decommissioned in 2011, she turned into a rare doll.
The doll costs a lot on Mercari and eBay. I found out she was selling for between $200 and $500. Ensure you have sufficient funds saved if you would like to add this unusual doll to your collection!
6. Just Like You 36
Another extremely rare doll, Just Like You 36, was introduced in 2009 and put into retirement in 2012. She has hazel eyes and light brown hair that is layered.
Whenever we search for her on eBay, we get nothing. If she ever appears on Mercari or eBay, she will most likely cost more than $300.
7. Cecile Rey
2011 saw the publication of Cecile Rey, a pair that embodied New Orleans in the middle of the nineteenth century. She is one of the few dolls in the historical line that represents color, along with Addy, Josefina, and Kaya. Known for her passion for storytelling and theater, Cecile wore an emerald green dress with white hair bows.
Did you know that, along with Caroline Abbott, Cecile Rey and her companion doll Marie-Grace have the shortest availability window of any official historical figures?
8. Just Like You 48
Like You 48, which is also a difficult-to-find doll. Her eyes are hazel, and she has short, bangs on her dark brown hair.
Make sure you keep an eye out on eBay if you're interested in her; she might become available at some point! It may take some time before she becomes available because she is quite rare. (Whenever I look her up on the internet, nothing comes up.) Should she appear on eBay, her price will likely exceed $400.
9. Marie-Grace Gardner
Cecile Rey, Marie-Grace Gardner's dearest friend, was also released. Marie-Grace's persona is more shy but likes to sing, in contrast to her friend who loves performing. Together, the girls flourished as Marie-Grace learned confidence-building techniques from Cecile. Marie-Grace had on a pink plaid outfit with matching hair ribbons or a hat.
Do you know...? Marie-Grace was code-named Sarah after the author of her book before she was released. |
10. Truly Me 19
Originally released in 1995, Truly Me 19 (previously Just Like You 19) is one of the original 20 dolls. Her original appearance is among the rarest of the rare since it was altered twice, in 1999 and 2017.
Her hair changed to a somewhat lighter shade of brown in 1999, and her eyes turned brilliant green, resembling Felicity Merriman's eyes, from their previous dark brown. Then, somewhere in 2017, her eyes turned an ordinary green instead of a dazzling green once more!
Although she retired in 2018, it's difficult to locate her in her original outfit. If you discover the original doll on eBay, she will likely cost between $400 and $500. She may be found on eBay for at least $100, and her updated appearance is not all that uncommon.
