Disney is making a live-action movie based on Cinderella's Prince Charming, and while we're totally into a standalone film featuring a Disney prince, we wish they picked a different leading man. Why?
Glad you asked: because Prince Charming is not the best Disney prince. How do we know that? Well, obviously we ranked our favorite Disney princes based on eligibility and guess what? Prince Charming did not come out on top!
List of the 10 most popular Disney princes
1. Prince Eric, The Little Mermaid
2. Prince Florian
3. Prince Henry
4. Prince Adam
5. Eugene/Flynn Rider
6. Aladdin
7. Prince Naveen
8. Prince Simba
9. John Smith
10. Prince Philip
Who are the 10 most popular Disney princes?
1. Prince Eric, The Little Mermaid

Unlike most of the Disney Princes, Prince Eric gets to play the "damsel in distress" card at the beginning of the film when he falls off his ship and nearly drowns. Thankfully, Ariel is there to save him, thus starting one of Disney's most memorable love stories.
While Prince Eric might not have been trying to woo Ariel at the beginning, that doesn't stop him from being a true romantic. For starters, he's willing to bring Ariel back to his palace after she washes ashore and even takes her around the kingdom. And then there's the whole "Kiss the Girl" scene which further proves that Eric is a romantic at heart.
2. Prince Florian

Often referred to as The Prince, Florian’s greatest quality is that he is not afraid to sing his heart out in his melodious voice for his beloved Snow White. He is an absolute gentleman and always dressed like one, and has a pretty face. But, some consider him a little too pretty, and quite boring, as well. What works in his favour is his love and recognition of beauty, and his courage to express himself in the most artistic manner. Originally planned to be the deuteragonist, he was finally given just two scenes, too small a screen time to make it to the viewers’ hearts.
3. Prince Henry

He is possibly the most famous of all Disney princes. After all, he is Prince Charming. But, most people seem to be confused as to whose prince he really is. Well, Cinderella stole Charming’s heart. The flamboyant Prince Charming likes to flaunt his excellent sword skills. But, he is far from shallow, and is an empathetic man. He is humorous and adventurous, and has a penchant for ball-room dancing. He isn’t just a romantic fool. Love is deep for him, something that he has seen between his parents, and knows he can’t find it with just anyone. Love is his strength. No wonder he is sought after.

4. Prince Adam

The Beast has a bit of a bad reputation in terms of the Disney Princes. After all, he spends most of the film as a, well, beast holding Belle captive after her father enters his castle.
However, underneath all that fluff, the Beast is actually a real romantic. In fact, he pulls out all the stops when it comes to wooing Belle like gifting her his massive library and setting her free when they realize her father is in danger. And who could forget their romantic dance scene to "Beauty and the Beast."
5. Eugene/Flynn Rider

Eugene may start of Tangled as the cold-hearted criminal Flynn Rider who only thinks of himself but a few days with Rapunzel and his true, romantic colors start to show.
As Eugene becomes comfortable around Rapunzel, he begins to open up to her which is one of the most romantic things a guy could ever do. Not only does he take her to see the lanterns, but he also makes sure that they have the best spot and even brings along lanterns for them to send off.
6. Aladdin

It could be said that Aladdin is one of the most popular Disney Prince amongst Disney fans which is totally understandable. While most fans aren't totally in love with the fact that he lies about who he is to get closer with Jasmine, his heart was in the right place.
And the truth is, Aladdin only lies because he can't fathom never seeing Jasmine again which is pretty romantic. Not to mention, he literally shows Jasmine the world while on a flying carpet so yeah, he's definitely a true romantic at heart.

7. Prince Naveen

At the start of Princess and the Frog, Prince Naveen oozes entitlement and charisma. He knows he's royalty and he's not going to let anyone forget it. In fact, that's part of the reason he ends up being turned into a frog.
However, Prince Naveen's softer, more romantic side comes out as he begins to fall for Tiana even though they're both frogs. From agreeing to help her mince mushrooms to eventually admitting that he would work several jobs to ensure Tiana could open up her own restaurant, it's clear that Prince Naveen does know how to love and cherish someone.
8. Prince Simba

He may not be an official Disney Prince, but he has all the qualities to prove his royal lineage. He may not be human, but he earned his way to the throne, and this list. He steals our heart as a cub with his playful antics and ability to see the best in everyone. As he grows up, he retains much of the childlike fun-loving demeanour, something we all like in a man, and simultaneously, grows responsible and courageous enough to protect his family, no matter the cost. His love, faith and loyalty in every relationship is exceptional, and is capable of bringing out the best in them.
9. John Smith

Disney's Pocahontas might not be a fan favorite in recent years but it's still part of the exclusive Disney Princess franchise. And even though Englishman John Smith doesn't descend from actual royalty, he has been inducted into the Disney Prince hall of fame.
Unfortunately, John Smith doesn't rank do much when it comes to the world of romance. In fact, Pocahontas does way more to woo him than he does to woo her. John Smith just has a different way of showing his softer side like sacrificing himself to save Pocahontas' father from being shot by his people.
10. Prince Philip

When it comes to the classic Disney Princess films, Prince Philip is definitely the only prince that certainly steps up his game and stands out amongst his predecessors.
The minute Prince Philip shows up in Sleeping Beauty he's ready to romance Aurora by dancing with Aurora in the forest as the two sing "Once Upon A Dream." Then, Prince Philip continues the romance by battling a fire-breathing dragon just to rescue Aurora and wake her from her un-wake-up slumber. And unlike Prince Florian, this kiss is a little less sketchy since Prince Philip and Aurora already knew each other.
Fact: Disney World is actually its own city. You might have thought Disney World was located in the City of Orlando, but it's actually a part of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a special taxing district that acts with the same authority and responsibility as a county government. Disney helped organize the district himself, so he could leverage more control over the areas surrounding his theme park. And technically, Reedy Creek is comprised of two cities of its own, the City of Bay Lake and the City of Lake Buena Vista. The district has its own contracts for fire, law, and traffic protection, and boasts just a few dozen full-time residents—all of whom work for Disney. |
