Club Med released its list of the top 10 happiest travel destinations in the world after compiling data from the 50 most visited tourist destinations.
The survey measured the cities based on nine metrics: crime, safety, pollution, cost of domestic beers, outdoor activities, day trips, spa and wellness centers, LGBTQ friendly, and the overall happiness of the individual cities on a scale of 0-100.
1. Bali, Indonesia

Bali is the most popular destination for people who want to enjoy a happy and stress-free vacation. The island destination received a score of 73.7 out of 100.
“Bali is at the top of the list thanks to its great spas and wellness centres and great outdoor activities – perfect for anyone looking for relaxation and adventure during their vacation,” reads a statement from Club Med website.
Responding to the ranking, the Deputy Governor of Bali, Tjok Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati or Cok Ace, expressed his gratitude. He noted that a number of things that supported the selection of Bali in the survey and other awards are the people, nature, and culture.
2. Las Vegas, Nevada

While most people think of Las Vegas as the Strip with its plethora of hotels, casinos, and entertainment, the region is home to so much more. Club Med has identified more than 40 daytime activities that make it more than a gambling, drinking, and show destination.
There is plenty of world-class golf, hiking, water sports, and even skiing at Mt. Charleston in the winter. It has also become a professional sports destination, with the NFL’s Raiders and NHL’s Golden Knights a big part of the region.
3. New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans is an over-the-top experience for the senses, a city filled with vibrantly colored streets, soul-filled rhythm and blues, and memorable flavors. The coastal Louisiana enclave is the culinary heart of creole and cajun food, and beyond delicacies from gumbo to shrimp and grits, it's the city that brought us the muffuletta, beignets, and char-broiled oysters.
New Orleans, nicknamed "The Big Easy," is a town of jazz kings and queens, iconic architecture, the New Orleans Saints, and perhaps the most spirited street in America—Bourbon Street. It's also one of the only cities in America where you can legally drink on the street, which only adds to the lively nature of NOLA nightlife.
Comedian and actor Hannibal Burress famously said of the Big Easy that "for $300 you can have your own parade on a day's notice," and if that doesn't beautifully encapsulate the glory of New Orleans in one sentence, we don't know what does. |
4. Barcelona, Spain

The Polish writer and winner of the Prince of Asturias Award, Claudio Magris describes Budapest as the Pearl of the Danube after travelling through Europe.
It is true that it isn’t as “fairy-tale” as Prague, but travellers, unlike tourists, have the capacity to find the beauty of a city behind its façades. What’s more, we have been treated very kindly in Budapest, except by the metro inspectors!
7. Vancouver, Canada

The city of Rio de Janeiro has captured most of Brazil’s glory through the decades, but the state of which it is the capital (also called Rio de Janeiro) is replete with attractions of its own. Like its capital, the state of Rio is an exciting contrast of forested mountains and sun-drenched beaches, all located within a few hours of the city.
Paradise found For those cariocas who still prefer to stick to the pleasures of the coast, Búzios, on the Costa do Sol (Sun Coast), is a sophisticated international resort that for much of the year still manages to retain the air of a fishing village. It has escaped the high-rise invasion that has scarred many Brazilian beaches: the fashionable homes that dot the beach-scape blend, for the most part, with the picturesque houses of the fishermen. |
