1. Audi e-tron GT - $99,900

The 2022 Audi e-tron GT is a bold-looking electric car with deep engineering ties to the Porsche Taycan. In fact, the two slinky four-door gran turismos were developed alongside each other and share a cutting-edge 800-volt propulsion architecture that allows faster charging and helps ensure performance stays consistent.
Aiding the e-tron GT's dual electric motors, which produce between 522 and 637 horsepower depending upon the model, is an innovative two-speed transmission that enables breathtaking take-offs. The Audi stands out from the Porsche with its more chiseled bodywork and busier front end. Inside, the e-tron is equally elegant and technologically advanced, with a selection of handsome materials and high-tech features.
Although the 2022 e-tron GT is arguably just a rebodied Taycan, it's yet another desirable alternative to the popular Tesla Model S.
2. Bollinger B1 - $125,000

From a Michigan-based startup come a pair of utilitarian-looking high-end vehicles, including this B1 SUV, each priced at $125,000 and expected to start reaching customers in 2021. They're targeted at people who are prepared to add a lot of options at extra cost to what's already a high-end SUV or truck.
Both SUV and truck are claimed to offer 614 horsepower, 668 lb-ft of torque, and a 4.5-second zero-to-6o-mph time. The Bollinger B1's 120.0-kWh battery pack is said to offer up to 200 miles of range. Other specs include a 5000-pound payload capacity and 15 inches of ground clearance.
3. Bollinger B2 - $125,000

The Bollinger B2 pickup has foldable and removable body panels, Jeep Gladiator style, plus locking differentials, disconnecting sway bars front and rear, and up to 20 inches of ground clearance to seal its off-road cred.
From there it gets interesting: the B2 will feature both front and rear tailgates, geared axle hubs, a hydropneumatic suspension, and the ability to carry 16-foot pieces of lumber with the tailgate closed. The B2 will cost $125,000, with Bollinger currently taking deposits for an expected 2022 on-sale date.
4. Cadillac Lyriq - $60,000

The first electric Cadillac is almost here, and will be built in Spring Hill, Tennessee alongside other future GM electric vehicles. The Lyriq will be sold in both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive variants.
Cadillac says it will have a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge, using GM's modular platform and Ultium scalable battery architecture. Although details are still hush-hush, Cadillac says the Lyriq will likely offer a battery with about 100-kWh worth of capacity, with DC fast charging standard.
Photos of the Lyriq's giant 33.0-inch curved LED display have been shared, and Cadillac recently partnered with a digital design company that's worked on video games and movies for its look and feel, Caranddriver noted.
5. Canoo Van - $33,000

Like Canoo's pickup, this seven-seat EV is built on a skateboard platform, similar to what BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen use to easily swap bodystyles on similar underpinnings. Canoo is testing a subscription service that would allow consumers to use and pay for the EV only when it's needed, like Netflix. Canoo claims this little bus will have a range of 250 miles and 300 horsepower. Details on subscription cost or initial cost haven't been revealed yet, but expect more information as we get closer to 2022.
There are multiple fold-down and flip-out work surfaces on Canoo’s pickup, with one in the nose of the vehicle and another on the side of the truck bed. There’s an extension that can be pulled out to make the bed a few feet longer. There are power outlets (120V and USB) dotting the inside of the bed and the storage compartments. Promo images also show the truck decked out in a roof rack and, in a bid to capitalize on the booming “van life” market, an “overlander” trim with a camper shell and a pop-up tent, Theverge noted.
6. Jeep Wrangler Magneto EV - $112,595

Jeep is working on a battery-powered version of the iconic Wrangler off-road SUV. This Magneto Concept was revealed as part of the Easter Jeep Safari. On the surface it looks like your typical two-door Wrangler Rubicon, but on the inside the Magneto has four battery packs with a combined output of 285 horsepower.
A six-speed manual is also onboard, as Jeep says the motor will regenerate power when you use the clutch to prevent rev hang and give a little back to the batteries. Don't get too excited, as this isn't the real thing yet, but expect the production model later to arrive in 2022.
7. Lexus EV SUV - $60,441

Although Lexus is a little late to the party, the luxury brand has announced it will eventually offer an EV drivetrain called Direct 4. It showcased an SUV prototype with the technology in 2020, with front and rear electric motors that produce 201 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque each. Total output is unknown. Although the prototype vehicles testing Direct 4 are likely very pre-production test-mules, we expect the real thing to be a compact crossover that's close to the Lexus NX in size.
This new Lexus Direct4 system indicates that the first of Toyota's new EV models may wear a Lexus badge. But we don't yet know which EVs will reach the U.S. market first. Toyota confirmed that an electric crossover will reach the European market and that EV models will come to America in the "short term."
8. New Kia EV6 - $56,300

Kia continues to bolster its role in the electric vehicle space with the reveal of the new EV6 crossover. Although the EV6 is not the first battery-electric vehicle from the Korean automaker, it is the first model to strictly rely on electricity for power. Other Kia electrics, such as the Soul EV and Niro EV, are also available with gasoline- or gasoline-electric hybrid powertrains.
Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV, the Kia EV6 rides on Hyundai Motor Company's Electric-Global Modular Platform (or E-GMP), which allows the EV6 to come in either rear- and all-wheel-drive variants. Power to the rear-mounted or available front- and rear-mounted electric motors comes courtesy of either a 58-kWh or 77-kWh battery pack. The latter affords the rear-drive EV6 up to 316 miles of estimated driving range on Europe's WLTP combined cycle. Expect a sub-300-mile figure on the more conservative EPA cycle, Motortrend noted.
9. Volkswagen I.D. Space Vizzion - $55,000

Another exciting addition has been announced for the upcoming lineup of Volkswagen electric vehicles. The 2022 ID. Space Vizzion is a spacious wagon concept that will provide the features you expect from VW, with the impressive efficiency of the modular electric vehicle (MEB) platform.
You can depend on this vehicle to provide efficient performance that won’t disappoint. It is expected to be powered by an electric motor that will produce about 275 horsepower. It should provide about a 300-mile estimated range. There may also be an all-wheel drive (AWD) version with an additional electric motor to provide a total of 355 horsepower.
2022 VW ID. Space Vizzion Wagon rear hatch skateboardsOf course, this innovative wagon will feature an exciting variety of features. You will be able to control many of them from the 15.6-inch touchscreen. Staying updated on important information will be easy since much of it will be displayed on the windshield. Enjoying your surroundings will also be easy, thanks to the panoramic glass roof. It is expected to have one section that can slide and tilt to allow an open-air feel, too. Even entering the vehicle will take an innovative new direction. The concept vehicle includes touchpads on the doors to open them, Emichvw cited.
10. Mercedes-Benz EQA - $57,000
Photo: MotorTrend |
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA is a new all-electric crossover SUV that's based on the regular subcompact GLA-class. As part of Mercedes’s EQ subbrand, which produces fully electric models, the EQA is expected to enter production later this year.
Mercedes has only released information on the global model so far but says it is still being considered for entry into the U.S. market. Given the American appetite for luxury SUVs, we think bringing the 2022 EQA here would be a good move. Power comes from an all-electric powertrain that generates 188 horsepower on front-drive models and 268 horses on all-wheel-drive versions, which both source their juice from a battery pack mounted under the floor of the vehicle.
