Detailed Information Of The 10 Best Cars For Women In US
1. Volkswagen Tiguan
Percentage of buyers who are female:
61.70%
EPA fuel economy:
18 city/ 24-25 hwy
Available engines:
200-hp, 2.0-liter I-4
Available transmissions:
6-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual
The compact SUV segment is full of good options, but one of our favorites is the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, which is one of the most well-rounded choices. It's handsomely styled, well-equipped, and practical. Plus, the VW is one of only two compact SUVs that offer an optional third row of seats (the other is the Mitsubishi Outlander). All models come with the same 184-hp four-cylinder engine, which is admittedly a little poky. Still, its fuel economy is competitive with rivals such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. While the Tiguan does offer some of the same sharp driving dynamics that endear us to the majority of the Volkswagen lineup, its practicality is really what makes it worth buying, and it's what earned it an Editors' Choice award.
2. Volkswagen Beetle
Percentage of buyers who are female:
57.9%
EPA fuel economy:
20 city/ 28-29 hwy
Available engines:
150-hp, 2.5-liter I-5
Available transmissions:
5-speed manual w/OD
6-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual
The Beetle was commissioned in the 1930s by Adolf Hitler as the "people's car" (or volks wagen in German). Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, the curvy car was affordable, practical, and reliable. Three decades later, the "Bug" (as it was affectionately known) became a symbol of the 1960s and the "small is beautiful" ethos.
Germany stopped producing Beetles in the late 1970s, but in 1998 Volkswagen rolled out the New Beetle, which was meant to be a visual flashback to the original Type 1 design but was essentially a VW Golf. Another variation was introduced in 2012, but sales have been steadily declining—down to around 15,000 last year from some 43,000 in 2013—so now the Bug will be squashed.
3. Hyundai Tucson
Percentage of buyers who are female:
55.7%
EPA fuel economy:
17-20 city/ 23-25 hwy
Available engines:
140-hp, 2.0-liter I-4
173-hp, 2.7-liter V-6
Available transmissions:
4-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual
5-speed manual w/OD
The Hyundai Tucson ranks in the middle of the compact SUV class. The Tucson has user-friendly features, a comfortable interior, composed handling, and an above-average predicted reliability rating, but lackluster engine performance and middling fuel economy hold it back.
Is the Hyundai Tucson a Good SUV? Yes, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson is a good SUV. The Tucson has a five-seat interior with nicely contoured seats, an easy-to-use infotainment system, and lots of standard tech and safety features. It’s comfortable and relaxing to drive day today, and there’s a decent amount of cargo space. The Tucson also rates above average for predicted reliability, and it’s backed by Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, so you can worry less about repairs down the road. That said, engine performance is one of the few areas where Tucson could stand to improve. Neither of its four-cylinder engine options is particularly muscular or fuel-efficient, though they are up to the task of everyday driving. 2020 vs. 2021 Hyundai Tucson: What's the Difference? There aren’t any major differences between the 2020 and 2021 Tucson models. Compare the 2020 and 2021 Tucson Here are the key changes for the Hyundai Tucson over the last few years: 2016: fully redesigned (start of the third generation) with updated styling, more passenger and cargo space, updated infotainment system, and more standard safety features 2017: gained available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 2018: features shuffled between trims 2019: turbocharged engine discontinued; updated dashboard design; Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and forward-collision warning added to the standard features list 2020: no notable changes 2021: no notable changes (the final model year before full redesign) |

4. Kia Sportage
Percentage of buyers who are female:
53.5%
EPA fuel economy:
17-20 city/ 21-25 hwy
Available engines:
140-hp, 2.0-liter I-4
173-hp, 2.7-liter V-6
Available transmissions:
4-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual
5-speed manual w/OD
The Kia Sportage is a small SUV that slots between the three-row Sorento and the compact Seltos. The Sportage shares more than a little with its corporate sibling, the Hyundai Tucson. The Sportage packs tons of features into an affordable package, with available all-wheel drive and a striking design that helps it stand out from the crowd. But in a very crowded segment, it rated lower on our list than all-stars such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester.
5. Nissan Rogue
Percent of buyers who are female:
53.1%
EPA fuel economy:
21-22 city/ 236-27 hwy
Available engines:
170-hp, 2.5-liter I-4
Available transmissions:
2-speed CVT w/OD
Nissan's Rogue compact SUV receives a much-needed redesign for the 2021 model year and offers more attractive styling, modernized interior tech, improved performance, and more adept ride-and-handling. Historically, the Rogue has sold well against segment leaders such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Volkswagen Tiguan, but wasn't as good overall, languishing far down in our rankings. With this redesign, Nissan's moneymaker turns up the charm in an attempt to shake off its history of mediocrity–something we think has been relatively successful.
6. Volvo V50
Just before the end of 2003, yet another new Volvo was launched, Volvo V50. Volvo V50 is the replacement for Volvo V40 which was launched in 1995.
The exterior design of the new Volvo V50 has a clear Volvo identity and the interior shows an influence of clean, crisp Scandinavian design, according to Volvocars.
Volvo V50 continues the strong Volvo heritage as a manufacturer of estate cars. Something that can be identified by the shape of the rear of the car and also the high mounted tail lamps.
Torsion stiffness has been increased by almost 70% and contributes to a high level of safety. Concerning safety, the new Volvo V50 has got a new, patented front structure with several crumple zones for increased protection of the occupants.
Other interesting news is the availability of the five-cylinder petrol engine and also the possibility to get Volvo V50 with all-wheel drive.
7. Volkswagen Eos
Percentage of buyers who are female:
51.3%
EPA fuel economy:
19-21 city/ 26-30 hwy
Available engines:
200-hp, 2.0-liter I-4
250-hp, 3.2-liter V-6
Available transmissions:
6-speed auto-shift manual w/OD
auto-manual
The Eos is a clever little combo: Its folding hardtop makes it a closed coupe, an open-air convertible, and the roof has a sliding sunroof, too. While the roof is an engineering marvel, it also makes the Eos costlier and heftier than a base Beetle ragtop. The Eos has one powertrain: a 200-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four with a six-speed DSG automatic and front-wheel drive. Like what you see? Act now; production ended in November 2015; when those are sold, that will be the end of the Eos.
8. Honda CR-V
Percentage of buyers who are female:
50.9%
EPA fuel economy:
20 city/ 26-27 hwy
Available engines:
166-hp, 2.4-liter I-4
Available transmissions:
5-speed automatic w/OD
The CR-V is one of the better small SUVs, thanks to its roomy cabin, good fuel economy, and competent handling. The 190-hp, 1.5-liter turbo provides ample power even at low to midrange revs. The continuously variable transmission is largely unobtrusive. Fuel economy is impressive at 28 mpg overall for the regular engine, while the Hybrid version gets 35 mpg overall. Handling is sure-footed, and although the ride has a firm edge, it's not objectionable. Road noise is well-suppressed, and the cabin is reasonably quiet. The interior is very roomy, particularly the rear seat, and access is easy. Note that the seats in the base LX are less supportive. EX and above trims get a more comprehensive infotainment system. While FCW and AEB with pedestrian detection are standard, BSW comes only on the EX and above trims.
9. Nissan Sentra
Percentage of buyers who are female:
50.1%
EPA fuel economy:
21-25 city/ 29-33 hwy
Available engines:
140-hp, 2.0-liter I-4
177-hp, 2.5-liter I-4
200-hp, 2.5-liter I-4
Available transmissions:
2-speed CVT w/OD
2-speed CVT w/OD and auto-manual
6-speed manual w/OD
The Nissan Sentra is a compact sedan known for value over style, and livability over performance. Now enjoying its sixth generation, the current Sentra sells well. With a length of 182 inches on a wheelbase of 106 inches, the Sentra is bigger than most compacts, with more headroom and legroom, front and rear.
10. Chevrolet Volt
GM's second-generation electric car with a backup gas engine is much improved. It is quicker and quieter, rides more comfortably, and has easier-to-use controls. The electric-only range is 50 miles, at which point the engine kicks in to extend the range. It takes 4.5 hours to recharge the car using a 240-volt connection. We got 38 mpg in gas mode. This new 1.5-liter engine acts as a generator, which eliminates the range anxiety common to electric-only vehicles. Visibility is still limited, and the rear seat is cramped and awkward to get into. However, the infotainment system is among the best. The Volt's tepid heat makes the heated seats and steering wheel must-have features. 2019 is the Volt's last year.
