Scott John Morrison was born on 13 May 1968 in Waverley, Sydney, New South Wales. His father, John Morrison, initially a police commissioner, later became an independent politician, who served on the Waverley Municipal Council for sixteen years. His mother, Marion née Smith, served in the administrative position. He was born second of his parents’ two children, having an elder brother named Alan. Raised in Bronte, he led a happy middleclass life surrounded by loved ones. During his childhood, he performed regularly in his parents’ amateur theatre group.

Scott Morrison grew up in Sydney's now upmarket beachside suburb of Bronte, where his family, parents John and Marion, and older brother Alan, lived with an aunt who was widowed at a young age.

By all accounts, he was surrounded by people who loved him. He followed Alan to Sydney Boys' High, where Scott says he was not overly academic, but "did okay".

"My brother and I, we'd never been particularly denominational. We've always just liked going to a local community church," he says.

Scott was a dutiful son. He played rugby, rowed and participated in his parents' amateur theatre group. He even had an agent as a young boy and was in a few TV commercials, such as a high- profile campaign for Vicks Vaporub. He also did voiceovers and sang, but denies he is any good these days.

"When I was a kid, I had to [perform], my mum signed me up. I remember very distinctly [being in Oliver] because my dad was in it, we were in it together."

He has been married to Jenny for 29 years and they have two young daughters.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison: Education and Political Career

From 1980 to 1985, he studied at the prestigious Sydney High School. Thereafter, he entered University of New South Wales, eventually earning his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in applied economic geography, as astrotheme.com reported.

Before entering politics, he worked as director of the New Zealand Office of Tourism and Sport from 1998 to 2000 and managing director of Tourism Australia from 2004 to 2006. He was also state director of the New South Wales Liberal Party from 2000 to 2004. Morrison was first elected to the House of Representatives at the 2007 federal election. He was appointed to the opposition frontbench after the 2010 election.

Following the Coalition's victory at the 2013 election, Morrison was appointed Minister for Immigration and Border Protection in the Abbott Government. In a December 2014 cabinet reshuffle, Morrison was instead made Minister for Social Services. In August 2018, Peter Dutton challenged Turnbull for the leadership of the Liberal Party, due to dissatisfaction from the party's conservative wing. 2007: 1st elected to Federal Parliament. According to naa.gov.au, Morrison was elected as Member of Parliament for the seat of Cook (NSW), in the 42nd federal election.
