1. Parents induce labor to deliver babies at auspicious times
It is common practice among superstitious Indian parents to have their children delivered via cesarean section or to schedule the onset of labor for a specific time of day that is regarded as being fortunate. Some adherents of the Hindu religion believe that a child's prospects in life can be improved by their birth time.
2. People put up photos of deities on building walls to prevent public urination
Nearly 50% of India's population is said not to have a toilet at home and public defecation is a huge problem. BBC columnist Rahul Tandon wrote about a home where people had put up photos of Indian deities to prevent people from urinating on their walls. This was also mentioned in Rohinton Mistry's 1991 novel, "Such A Long Journey.", according to Eleconomista.
3. Elephants come back for revenge
In India, a herd of elephants remained together even after one of their members was struck and killed by a train. An elephant-chasing squad was brought in from Bengal, but the elephants eventually returned and caused destruction to ten homes while they were in the process of rampaging through the village.
4. Families hire pre-wedding detectives to snoop on prospective brides and grooms
Prior to weddings in India, prospective brides and grooms are having background checks conducted on them by private investigators hired by the families. According to the BBC, India's pre-matrimonial detective agencies are experiencing a rise in clientele and revenue.

5. Banks have no locks on their front door

Residents of the famous temple town of Shani Shingnapur in Maharashtra believe that the presence of Lord Shani affords them protection, so they do not bother to install doors or locks on their homes. UCO Bank opened its doors in 2011 as the town's first commercial bank, but the entrance to the building does not have a lock.
6. Millions of tons of grain rot in storage even as thousands die of malnutrition
There is a risk that approximately 6 million tons of India's grains, which have a combined value of $1.5 billion, will go bad, despite the fact that 43 percent of children under the age of five in India are underweight and that 3,000 children reportedly die every day from malnutrition-related illnesses.
7. Men spend thousands of dollars on gold shirts
Datta Phuge, an Indian businessman, spent $230,888 on a gold shirt. He told the Pune Mirror, "I know I'm not the world's most attractive man, but no woman couldn't help but be mesmerized by this shirt."
Designer Amitabh Chandel claimed to have created a $93,000 shirt for an Indian prince in 2011 out of silk, gold, and solitaire diamonds.
8. Robbers try to steal truckloads of onions
The Indian police were successful in preventing thieves from making their getaway with a truck full of onions. The thieves chose onions as their target after realizing that the price of the vegetable had recently skyrocketed.
9. There are special 'nuisance detectors' to fine those spitting in public.
People who are caught spitting, urinating, or otherwise littering in public places in India are subject to a fine thanks to the country's specialized "spit inspectors" and "nuisance detectors." The spitting in a public place in Mumbai that does not have a spittoon is against the law as of a bylaw that was passed in 2006.

10. Bureaucrats write memos to themselves
Additionally appointed as the inspector general in charge of training was Bhaskar Rao, the inspector general of police for internal security. Rao has started writing letters to himself in his capacity as the Inspector General of Police for the Internal Security Division (IGP Training, Bhaskar Rao).
Rao told the Deccan Chronicle, "I have to do my work and there has to be consistency in correspondence." Sometimes I have to transcribe a stern letter to myself due to the delay in my response from the other office.
11. People swallow live fish to cure asthma
In India, the Goud family claims to have a home remedy for asthma that involves swallowing a live fish that is filled with a medicine that is closely guarded. This remedy is said to be effective.
