Newly surfaced video and still images are intensifying scrutiny of a fatal shooting involving federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, where authorities say an ICE officer killed a woman after she allegedly attempted to run him down with her SUV.
The woman has been identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37, according to family members and local officials. The incident occurred during a large-scale federal immigration enforcement operation in south Minneapolis, near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue.
| President Trump said in a statement that the driver caused the incident, which he said landed the agent in the hospital. “The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense,” he said in a post on Truth Social. |
What federal officials say happened
The Department of Homeland Security said an ICE agent fired in self-defense after Good used her vehicle as a weapon, accelerating toward an officer on foot. DHS characterized the encounter as a violent attack on federal personnel and said agents were responding to what it called an increasingly dangerous climate surrounding immigration enforcement.

What the video appears to show
Multiple videos, recorded from different angles and now widely shared online, depict a tense and fast-moving confrontation. In the footage, ICE officers can be heard ordering the driver out of her SUV after it blocked the path of a federal vehicle.

Dramatic video circulating online appears to show the moment an ICE agent fatally shot a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis after authorities say she tried to drive her SUV into an officer’s path early Wednesday. The shooting sparked an angry response from city leaders, with the mayor demanding federal agents leave Minneapolis.
As one agent appears to pull at the driver-side door, the SUV abruptly reverses. Moments later, it moves forward toward another agent standing in its path. The officer fires several shots as the vehicle narrowly passes him, then crashes into a parked white sedan along the curb.
The videos do not clearly capture the driver’s face or the exact sequence of commands, leaving room for sharply different interpretations of the agent’s actions.

Footage shared widely on social media from multiple angles shows ICE officers approaching a plum-colored Honda Pilot after it blocked their vehicle. Agents are heard ordering the driver to exit the SUV. As one officer pulls at the driver-side door, the vehicle suddenly reverses, then accelerates forward toward another agent standing nearby.
The agent narrowly avoids being hit, moves alongside the SUV, and fires three shots. The vehicle then crashes into a parked white sedan along the street. Video from a more distant angle appears to show the SUV making contact with the officer as he jumps out of its path.
Moments after the gunfire, a woman at the scene can be heard screaming in shock and anger, accusing the agents of being “criminals.”
Local leaders push back
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly challenged the federal narrative, saying the video raised serious questions about whether deadly force was necessary. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also called for transparency, stating that Minnesota officials were not informed in advance about the scope of the federal operation.
Local police said Minneapolis officers were not involved in the shooting itself.

Investigations underway
The shooting is now under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, according to officials. Investigators are expected to review video evidence, witness statements, and forensic findings before determining whether the agent’s actions were justified.
As of publication, no timeline has been given for when preliminary findings might be released.

A divided public reaction
Online reaction has been swift and polarized. Some viewers argue the footage supports the self-defense claim, pointing to the SUV’s movement toward an officer. Others say the video suggests confusion, conflicting commands, and a situation that escalated too quickly to lethal force.
For many Americans, the case has become a broader test of trust: between federal agencies and local leaders, and between official statements and what cameras capture in real time.
