On the chilly morning of March 27, 1968, an engine's roar punctured the sky over Kirzhach in the Vladimir Region. A fighter plane cut through the clouds at high speed, slicing through treetops before exploding. A swatch of his shirt hung from a birch tree, and an uncashed breakfast voucher bearing the name "Gagarin Yu. A." was in his pocket.

After the shocking news of "cosmic hero Gagarin's" death, a massive investigation was launched behind closed doors. The lack of definitive results after 55 years has fuelled persistent speculation about the disaster's origin.

Stalin's successor, Nikita Khrushchev, chose Yuri Gagarin to be an astronaut and send him on the Vostok 1 mission in 1960.

When Gagarin completed his historic flight of 108 minutes, he became a household name. As a result, Gagarin was promoted to the rank of major only one day after his return to Earth.

Gagarin walked up to the podium, untying her shoelaces as she did so, to accept Khrushchev's medal amid cheers and cameras.

There was a three-hour party for close friends and family in the Kremlin, and the next day there would be a meeting for the international press. The Soviet authorities forced Gagarin to visit 30 countries despite the fact that he barely had time for it.

Gagarin is expected to attend official events in nearly every country, including receptions, speeches, and breakfasts with heads of state. After nearly three years, the "cosmic hero" has forgotten his or her former working habits as an astronaut.

Gagarin's name eventually stopped appearing on the front pages of newspapers around the world. At the height of his fame, the colonel, then 30 years old, was forced to return to normalcy. Gagarin studied at the Zhukovsky Air Force Academy with the goal of rejoining the military for the long haul as a fighter pilot.

People who had worked with Gagarin confirmed that he had lost his fighter pilot status and needed retraining after years of traveling.

So, on March 27, 1968, Gagarin and his instructor Vladimir Seregin took off on a training flight, but the results were unexpected and caused widespread skepticism.

At 10:18, Gagarin and Seregin took off from Chkalovsky; just 12 minutes later, Gagarin reported a job well done, asked for permission to return early, and did so. However, the "space hero's" plane never got another signal.

Since both passengers and pilot had extensive experience, it was decided that the pilot's competence couldn't have been the primary factor in the crash. This, however, is the best explanation available at this time.

RT suggests that the hypothesis's lack of significance may account for its secrecy.

Historian Anatoliy Brusnikin claims that the Soviet Union preferred to spread rumors rather than admit simple mistakes in the planning and execution of training flights.

The plane broke apart upon impact, ensuring both victims' instantaneous deaths. There have been many speculations about what caused the plane crash, from pilot error to a collision with a hot air balloon to the involvement of the KGB to an encounter with extraterrestrial life.

Photos taken the following day by the investigative committee show wreckage from the plane scattered across the crash site, but they don't reveal much. concerning the unfortunate passing of the pioneering cosmonaut.

Gagarin was the son of a carpenter and a dairy farmer who worked under the Nazis and went on to become a military pilot after learning the trade of steelwork.

At age 27, Gagarin became the first human to orbit the Earth during his 108-minute flight aboard the Vostok spacecraft.

Russia published over 700 pages of Gagarin-related documents in 2011, 50 years after Gagarin's space flight, revealing that the weather on March 27, 1968 (the day he died) was very complicated and the movements complemented each other. Gagarin and his copilot risked the plane's safety by performing a dive.
