Mother's Day: Best Ideas to Celebrate
Table of Contents |
Mother's Day celebrates motherhood, mother-bonds, and the impact of mothers in society in addition to the mother of the family. Many places of the world observe it on different days, but March or May are the most popular ones.

When Is Mother’s Day?
Mother's Day honors motherhood and is a day to give mothers' contributions to our life extra special attention. Mother figures and generations of mothers—grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers—often get this day off.
Mothers Day is observed every year on the second Sunday in May in the United States. Though it is a widely observed national holiday in the United States, Mother's Day is not a federal or public holiday (when businesses are closed).

Complete a Home-Decor Project
If mom hasn't had time to paint the powder room, put up a gallery wall, or hang that wallpaper, offer to help or work together. It will be like getting two gifts in one—the amazing outcomes and the quality time spent.

Wrap a Bouquet
Of course a bunch of flowers are beautiful on their own. Adding a graphic wrapping paper and handwritten note make them heartfelt and extra special.

Get theater tickets
Attend a play or a musical; many towns even have outdoor theater performances. If you're still apprehensive about going to the theater, you can watch plays and musicals from the comfort of your home at prices you wouldn't ever pay for tickets.

Spruce up the garden
Mother's Day is the ideal day, as gardeners know, to begin seeding. Get the entire family outside to dig in the dirt. She'll be brought back to the memorable day each time she sees them; it's the gift that never goes away! Sweet peas, marigolds and sunflowers are a few fairly easy-to-maintain flowers.

Get Outside and Garden
If your mother is green-thumbed, spend Mother's Day indulging in a leisurely gardening day while the weather is nice. Shop at the nursery and fill up on her favorite flowers; you might even treat her to some new gardening equipment. And if planting gives you an appetite, it's the ideal justification to have lunch outside.

Spend Sunday Morning at the Farmers’ Market
"The greatest gift of all is spending quality time as a mom in this busy, dynamic, fast-paced world," says Studio Munroe designer Emilie Munroe. How about spending a Sunday morning with the kids exploring the farmers' market in quest of specialty breads and spreads as well as fresh vegetables? Get home and spend an hour together making a delicious brunch dish while listening to fantastic music. At the same time as enjoying a nutritious feast, you create family memories. Remember to bring mom some mimosas, though.
Throw a (Real or Virtual!) Tea Party
Mother's Day is falling at that wonderful time of year when the trees and flowers are blooming and the temperature is comfortably warm (but not hot), so why not move the celebration outside with a garden tea party, either in person or virtually. Better yet, order one basket for yourself and one for her so you can both enjoy lemon shortbread cookies from lovely al fresco settings even if you can't be together. Send along a snack-filled Country Living gift basket.
Sip "Mom"-osas at a Virtual Brunch
Gather the family virtually for a virtual happy hour from all over the nation. Call them "mom"-osas and forward a fun mimosa recipe ahead of time! To get a laugh, ask each family member to arrive at the "party" against a humorous Zoom backdrop. We like one of these idyllic Country Living settings better.
Take a Flower Arranging Class Together
The only thing better than getting a bouquet of flowers is creating your own! Spend some time together placing gorgeous blooms into creative arrangements by taking a virtual Mother's Day Master Class with Alice's Table.
Flip Through a Custom Photo Album
Spending more time at home allows one to go through family pictures. Visit a site like Shutterfly or Artifact Uprising to make a personalized photo album that highlights your best memories of the past together—think holidays, birthdays, family vacations, and more. Get a copy for your mother and yourself, then read it aloud or over the phone to revisit those happy times. (Besides, isn't more pictures of the grandchildren just what she needs?)
