March 2024 US Calendar: Important Days, Full List of National and International Events
The name March is dedicated to the Roman god of war, Mars. It is the first month of the earliest Roman calendar and the season on spring. Every year, March and June end on the same day of the week.
March is an important month because it has many special days. On March 8th, we celebrate International Women’s Day to honor women. Then on March 15th, it’s World Consumer Rights Day, which reminds us about our rights as buyers. Pi Day is on March 14th, where we celebrate the number pi. March 20th is International Day of Happiness, which reminds us to be happy. On March 22nd, it’s World Water Day, where we talk about saving water. March 24th is World Tuberculosis Day, which raises awareness about TB. Lastly, Earth Hour is on the last Saturday of March, where we turn off lights to save energy.

March 2 - Texas Independence Day

The announcement of the Texas government and Declaration of Independence took place at a conference held in Washington-on-the-Brazos.
Mexican general Antonio López Santa Anna captured the Alamo on March 6, 1836. The Republic of Texas and the Mexican Army engaged in combat for over a month. US General Sam Houston defeated Santa Anna successfully on April 21, 1836. Nearly ten years later, J. Pinckney Henderson would be named the first governor of the newly formed state of Texas in a formal ceremony in 1846. Texas Independence Day is celebrated on March 2nd of each year.

March 3 - World Wildlife Day
March 3rd is the global celebration of this day, which is closely related to Sustainable Development Goal 12: "Life without water." Goal 12 focuses on marine species and draws attention to the problems and importance of marine wildlife to daily life. For 2023, "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration" will be the theme of World Wildlife Day.

The Women's Social and Political Union in the UK founded the Women's Equality Movement in 1908, and the combination of the colors purple, green, and white is meant to represent this. March 7 - National Cereal Day

Although the history of National Cereal Day is not entirely clear, it is widely believed that the invention of breakfast cereal—a notion that originated in America in the 19th century—was the inspiration behind the holiday. The earliest known form of cold breakfast cereal was created in 1863 by nutritionist and reformer Dr. James Caleb Jackson, who was a pioneer in an era when most people had heavy breakfast meats.
Cereal producers, retailers, dietitians, foodies, and consumers all usually celebrate this day fervently. Through social media sharing, cereal-themed parties, creative recipe creations, and informative talks about nutrition, it promotes celebration and highlights the value of eating breakfast as the first meal of the day. March 8 - Mahashivratri
One of the most significant and fortunate Hindu holidays is Maha Shivratri. The festival, held every year, pays tribute to Lord Shiva and his holy marriage to Goddess Parvati. Together, Shiva and Shakti stand for strength, love, and unity; their union occurs at night.
March 10, Sunday - First Day of Ramadan
The first day of Ramadan is always determined by the new moon.
Every year, it is updated in the standard calendar.
The Islamic calendar is eleven days shorter and is based on the moon.
For Muslims, that period is Ramadan. They reflect on their beliefs and demonstrate their devotion to Allah during this time.
Iftar marks the end of the first day of Ramadan. Muslims break their fast in the late afternoon.
March 10 - CISF Raising Day
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Raising Day is observed every year on 10 March. The CISF was set up in 1969 under the act of the Parliament of India. It works under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and its headquarter is in New Delhi. This organization works for seaways, airways, and some of the major installations in India. There are some reserved battalions in the CISF which work with the state police to protect law and orders.
March 10 - Daylight Saving Time
The custom of moving clocks one hour ahead of standard time during the warmer months of the year to create an extra hour of daylight in the evenings and a reduced amount in the mornings is known as daylight saving time. This exercise's main goals are energy conservation and better use of daylight.
Though George Vernon Hudson first proposed the idea in 1895, it wasn't widely accepted as a coal-saving measure until the First World War. Daylight saving time was first formally implemented in the US in 1918. Nevertheless, the concept lost most of its support and was repealed in 1919. Daylight Saving Time was not implemented again in the US until World War II. Following that, individual states and towns were free to decide whether or not to observe it until a federal law standardizing the start and end dates was passed in 1966.
In order to prolong evening daylight and lessen the need for artificial lighting, Daylight Saving Time is observed in the majority of US states today. It adds an extra hour of evening light during the warmer months of the year, starting on the second Sunday in March and ending on the first Sunday in November.
March 12 - Ramakrishna Jayanti
Ramakrishna was born on Dwitiya in the month of Phalguna during Shukla Paksha, according to the Hindu lunar calendar. All Ramakrishna Maths celebrate his birth anniversary annually. The date of this year's celebration is March 4. "The sole point of human birth is to acknowledge God," he declared.
March 12 - Mauritius Day
Mauritius Day is celebrated annually on 12 March to mark two key events that took place in the history of the country that is independence from Britain in 1968 and it became a republic in 1992.
March 13 - No Smoking Day (Second Wednesday of March)
Every year on the second Wednesday of March, people worldwide are encouraged to give up smoking by raising awareness of the detrimental health effects of tobacco use.
March 14 – Pi Day
Pi Day is observed worldwide on March 14. A constant in mathematics is represented by the symbol pi. It is the approximately 3.14 ratio between a circle's diameter and circumference.
March 14 - International Day of Action for Rivers
The International Day of Action for Rivers is observed annually on March 14 in order to raise awareness of the need to protect rivers and demand that policies related to them be improved. It's a day to inform one another about the problems that our rivers are facing and to come up with solutions.
March 15 - World Consumer Rights Day
Every year on March 15, people around the world observe this day to raise awareness of the needs and rights of consumers. This is your opportunity to protest social injustices and demand that the rights of all consumers be upheld and protected.
March 16 - National Vaccination Day
In India, National Vaccination Day, also known as National Immunization Day (IMD), is observed on March 16 each year. When the oral polio vaccine was administered for the first time on March 16, 1995, it was first noticed. It's an effort to raise awareness about the need to eradicate polio from the planet.

March 19 - St Joseph
Joseph, the stepfather of Jesus and spouse of the virgin Mary, is honored on the feast day of St. Joseph. After Joseph wed Mary, he found out she was expecting a child. He sent her away, knowing that this child was not his own but not wanting anything bad to happen to her. Only after receiving a dream from an angel informing him that Mary's unborn child was conceived by the Holy Spirit did Joseph bring her back. Given that Joseph is not mentioned in the Bible after Jesus' early years, it is thought that Joseph passed away before Jesus started living a public life. Every year on March 19th, people celebrate St. Joseph's Day.
March 19 - National AG (Agriculture) Day
The importance of agriculture in our daily lives is highlighted on National AG (Agriculture) Day. Its main goal is to honor and celebrate agriculture's contributions to a robust economy, a plentiful supply of safe, reasonably priced goods, renewable energy, and a plethora of job opportunities.
National AG Day was established in 1973 by the Agriculture Council of America to provide a platform for raising public awareness of the food and fiber sectors.
On March 23, which falls around the start of spring, National AG Day is usually observed on the Wednesday of National Agriculture Week.
March 20 - Spring Equinox

March 20 - International Day of Happiness
International Day of Happiness is observed every year on 20 March. Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated this day to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. The UN launched the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 to end poverty, reduce inequality and protect our planet which are the three key aspects that lead to well-being and happiness.
March 20 – World Sparrow Day
World Sparrow Day is celebrated across the world on 20 March to raise awareness about the conservation of sparrows. This day also celebrates the relationship between people and sparrows; spreads a love for sparrows, awareness about their importance in our lives, etc.

World Oral Health Day is celebrated on 20 March to raise awareness about oral health. The theme of World Oral Health day 2023 is "Be Proud Of Your Mouth". In other words, value and take care of it.
March 21 - World Forestry Day
Every year on March 21, the world observes World Forestry Day, also known as the International Day of Forests, to increase public awareness of the importance, values, and roles that forests play in maintaining the earth's life cycle. At the 23rd General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture, World Forestry Day was instituted in 1971.
March 21 - World Down Syndrome Day
Every year on March 21, we observe World Down Syndrome Day. Humans with Down syndrome have a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement that can have varying effects on their learning styles, physical traits, or general health. December 21, 2011, was designated as World Down Syndrome Day by the General Assembly.
March 21 - World Poetry Day
Every year on March 21st, there is a celebration known as World Poetry Day, which honors poetry's exceptional capacity to evoke the creative spirit of the human mind. It was decided to observe this day on March 21st, 1999, during UNESCO's 30th session in Paris.
March 22 - World Water Day

March 22- Bihar Diwas
On March 22, Bihar Diwas, also known as Bihar Day, is observed to commemorate the creation of the state of Bihar. In the state, it is a public holiday. On this day in 1912, the British divided Bengal into the state of Bihar. The 110th Bihar Diwas will be celebrated this year. March 22 – World Water Day
Every year on March 22, the world observes World Water Day to promote the sustainable management of freshwater resources and to increase public awareness of the value of freshwater. In 1992, during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, it was suggested to celebrate. After that, the inaugural World Water Day was observed in 1993.
March 23 - World Meteorological Day
Every year on March 23, the world observes World Meteorological Day to raise awareness of the importance of weather and climate for public safety and wellbeing. The World Meteorological Organization was established on March 23, 1950. World Meteorological Day 2023 will have "Early Warning and Early Action" as its theme. March 23 - Martyr's Day
India observes Martyr's Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, on a number of dates. Three valiant freedom fighters—Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar—were hanged by the British on March 23, as is remembered. In remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi, January 30th is also observed as Martyr's Day, or Shaheed Diwas.

March 26 - Purple Day of Epilepsy

March 27 - National Joe Day

March 28 - Holy Thursday

March 29, Friday - Good Friday

March 30- Ram Navmi
Rama Navami is a popular Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama. He is the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. The day is observed on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri every year.
March 30- Rajasthan Day
To commemorate the creation of the state of Rajasthan, March 30 is observed statewide. The region became known as Greater Rajasthan on this day in 1949 when the four states—Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer—joined the United State of Rajasthan.
March 31, Sunday - Easter Sunday
