2024–25 NYC DOE Public School Year Calendar
This is the schedule for all NYCDOE public schools serving grades 3 through 12. Regarding the calendar, please get in touch with your child's school if they attend a private, parochial, charter, NYC Early Education Center (NYCEEC), or Family Childcare Program.
Please take note of the following:
• On days when school buildings are closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies, remote learning is encouraged for all students and their families.
Please be aware that students will be participating in remote learning on "snow days" and other days when school buildings are closed due to weather-related emergencies. Families and students in all NYC Public Schools should prepare for remote learning during inclement weather. |
• The Parent-Teacher Conference dates listed below may not apply to every school. The teacher of your child will work with you to arrange the time of your conference.
• According to this schedule, elementary schools are those that offer instruction for students in kindergarten (K) through grade 8, which includes programs for 3-K and Pre-K as well as those that conclude in grade 5. Programs serving grades 6–8 are referred to as middle schools, and those serving grades 9–12 as high schools.
• Public holidays (also known as legal or federal holidays) that fall on a Saturday are not observed on a weekday in New York State; instead, they are observed on the Monday that follows if they fall on a Sunday. As per the policy of New York City Public Schools, schools are open on the weekdays right before or after non-public holidays that fall on a weekend.
• The New York City Public Schools observe the following non-public holidays: Good Friday, Eid al-Fitr, Yom Kippur, Election Day, Diwali, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Lunar New Year, and the first two days of Passover.
• This year, during the weekends of the 2024–25 school year, schools will be open on the weekdays immediately before or after the holidays listed below:
Yom Kippur (Saturday–Sunday, October 12–13, 2024)
On Sunday, March 30, 2025, is Eid al-Fitr.
