FA Cup 2020-2021
FA Cup 2020-2021

The FA Cup is the oldest and perhaps most popular national club knockout tournament on the planet. Composed of teams all the way down in the 10th level of the English football league pyramid, up to the big boys of the Premier League, the FA Cup is so special because of the potential matchups. Whether watching two massive clubs face-off in an early round, or a true David versus Goliath scenario, there are many mouthwatering matches throughout the year in this competition.

The FA Cup returns this month with teams now just two victories away from securing their place in a Wembley final.

Leicester host Manchester United in the pick of the ties, with Bournemouth the only side below the Premier League to reach the sixth round. They welcome Southampton, while Manchester City visit Everton and Sheffield United head to Chelsea.

How to Watch FA Cup

ESPN has the rights to broadcast the FA Cup. A vast majority of these games are featured on ESPN+; although there are sometimes games that will be aired on the regular ESPN channel. ESPN+ is a monthly subscription service (currently $6 per month) that showcases many sporting events from all over the planet.

Along with the FA Cup, ESPN+ also currently provides access to Bundesliga, Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Nations League, League Cup, Championship, League One, League Two, U.S. Open Cup, International Champions Cup, Supercoppa Italiana, Eredivisie, Danish Superliga, Chinese Super League, Indian Super League, Australian A-League, Sweden’s Allsvenskan, as well as out-of-market games in MLS and USL.

ESPN+ is available on Apple and Android devices, Samsung Smart TVs, Roku, Oculus Go, Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Where to Watch the FA Cup on US TV if you don’t have ESPN+?

If you rather interact with other fans while watching these FA Cup matches, you could always find a local pub in your area. Many club websites provide a list of official pubs here in America that show most, if not all, of that team’s matches. Plus, many teams from all over the world have official supporters clubs in the United States that can guide you in the direction of recommended pubs.

Along with providing pub suggestions, some of these club websites air its team’s games via an audio player on their website. Though unable to provide video access to matches, these club websites (a vast majority of them free) have their own commentators to provide an old-school feel to people unwilling to pay for televised matches.

English FA Cup: Live stream soccer in the US without cable

ESPN has the rights to the FA Cup in the US, and the great news is that all the games are being aired on its ESPN+ streaming service.

As the competition progresses, select games may also be shown on ESPN linear TV. Better still, you don't have to use cable to access ESPN. Over-the-top streaming services let you watch TV over an internet connection and can typically be had for a fraction of the cost of even the most basic cable package.

Sling TV's Orange package includes ESPN and there's a FREE trial period for a limited time only - the regular cost is $30 a month.

A wide range of online bookmakers live stream sporting events, from the world’s most popular football matches to niche fixtures you may not necessarily be able to access via traditional TV channels.

FACTS About FA Cup

The FA Cup is the world's oldest association football competition. The tournament is now in its 139th edition, consisting of six preliminary rounds and eight additional ties that lead to the tournament’s final.

The tournament has endured some changes since its inception in 1871. One of those changes has to do with the attendance numbers, as the first-ever FA Cup final was witnessed live by 2,000. In later years, the final of the competition has welcomed as many 86,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

This competition welcomes all football teams from England and Wales. Up to 736 teams have been invited to participate in the 2019-20 competition, with the first KO rounds seeing amateur teams fighting for a spot in the main draw. Up to the fifth round, games can be replayed in the event of a draw, but a level match after that stage of the competition will be decided in extra time or in a penalty shootout.

The winner of this competition earns access to two more tournaments: the UEFA Europa League and the FA Community Shield. If the team that wins the competition has already qualified to the UEFA Champions League or to the UEFA Europa League, then the spot will be awarded to the highest-ranked Premier League team without a ticket to play European competitions the following year.

Did you know? In the 2018-19 FA Cup final, Manchester City matched a 116-year-old record for the biggest win in the competition’s final match with their 6-0 win over Watford. That record belonged to Bury, who defeated Derby County with a similar score back in 1903.
