FreeSpace: Owner, Guide to Download, How it Works?
Freespace is an unpopular social media app with 425 daily active users as of March 22, 2021.

What is FreeSpace?

Freespace is relatively unknown at the moment, with 425 daily active users as of March 22 2021 according to data released by the app. In contrast, Twitter reported at least 192 million daily active users in a February 9 letter to shareholders, according to Newsweek.

It is also quite new. The app launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store on February 1.

The app is similar to other social media apps in that users create a profile to post status updates, upload photos, and chat to one another—but with a particular focus on lifestyle habits.

The app's website states it is based around "value reward systems" which aim to reward "good habits and healthy online interactions."

It says: "FreeSpace encourages the public to share the daily actions & content they believe will add value to their lives and model healthy habits for others to duplicate."

A screenshot of the app featured on the FreeSpace website shows what appear to be status update options that users can choose from. They include "worked out," "meditated," "got kids ready," and "drank water."

It is angled towards monetization and sponsorships and specifically highlights "entrepreneurs" in its description. Details about Trump's reported interest in the app are unclear.

Axios reported FreeSpace is affiliated with Skylab Apps—a platform that allows sports coaches and trainers to connect with clients.

Who is FreeSpace's CEO?

FreeSpace and Skylab Apps are owned and run by Jon Willis. He is also the CEO of Matchstick Media, a marketing agency in Arizona. His other credentials include the role of executive vice president of Legacy Sports USA, a private sports facility in USA.

Trump may partner with FreeSpace to launch his own network

Trump is in talks with obscure social media app FreeSpace as he eyes his own network, Axios reported Twitter banned then-President Donald Trump on January 8, two days after the attacks on the US Capitol, cutting off his access to a bully pulpit of nearly 90 million followers. Facebook followed the next day, severing ties between Trump and another 33 million accounts.

Since then, Trump's advisors have repeatedly teased new media companies that the former president might create to broadcast his message, including one built by his former campaign manager Brad Parscale.

But Axios reported Wednesday that Trump is also in talks with a relatively obscure social media app called FreeSpace, an affiliate of Skylab Apps, that has just 20,000 downloads and not many users.

The details of a Trump-FreeSpace deal, if one is reached at all, aren't yet clear, according to Axios. A spokesperson for Trump did not respond to a request for comment.

FreeSpace says its app is backed by science that makes people "'addicted' to doing good," "built on the power of positivity," and wants to "make social media fun again." It would appear to be an odd partnership for Trump, who is one of the world's largest promoters of misinformation and has consistently used racist, sexist, xenophobic, and violence-inciting language that eventually got him booted from mainstream platforms.
