Year of Rabbit: When and What meaning it holds

Rabbit ranks fourth in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs. If you were born in 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927... your Chinese zodiac sign is usually Rabbit.

However, a new Chinese zodiac year starts in January or February according to the Chinese lunar calendar. Therefore, if you were born in January or February in one of the above years, you might be a Rabbit, or possibly a Tiger.

In Chinese element theory, each zodiac sign is associated with one of the five elements: Gold (Metal), Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. Each Rabbit-element year corresponds with an element and comes once in a 60-year cycle. For example, 2011 was a year of the Gold Rabbit. The next Gold Rabbit year is 2071.

For Chinese people, the rabbit is a tame creature representing hope and life for a long time. It is tender and lovely. The moon goddess Chang'e in the Chinese legend has a rabbit as her pet, which stimulates the thought that only this creature is amiable enough to match her noble beauty. Another way of saying is that the Rabbit is the incarnation of the moon goddess per se and it is always a symbol of pureness and auspiciousness.

What are the characteristics of the Rabbit?

Rabbits are seen as modest, tender, and easy-going.

They tend to avoid arguments and are usually cautious and delicate.

Rabbits are responsible, friendly, honest and popular among a crowd.

Rabbits take a little time to warm up to people, but once they do, they're very friendly. They are pacifists who cannot tolerate injustice and violence. They will avoid confrontation at any cost. Due to this they will often avoid issues that do not affect them directly, even if they sympathize with those in that situation.

Being apart of a group proves difficult for the rabbit since, by nature, they are independent and solitary creatures. However, they love being doted on by others and socializing. Rabbits thoroughly enjoy stimulating conversations, although they will often keep their more critical opinions to themselves. Despite being very peaceful, if a rabbit is hurt they are known to retaliate verbally with sarcasm and humor.

Rabbits make exceptional parents since they know how to balance love and discipline better than most. They are warm and nurturing to their loved ones, but they will not stand for bad behavior. Any kids of a rabbit will be well dressed and well mannered.

How to Build Relationships with the Rabbit

Basically, you don't have to try hard but just help them with their weaknesses.

Strengths: Rabbits have good social relationships. They are popular with others as they are gentle and considerate. With a good sense of humor, they can turn a dispute into a good discussion and make enemies into friends.

Weaknesses: With an excess of universal love and charity, they may have conflicts of interest. With a lack of resolution, they have trouble with being emotionally swayed.

Rabbit Careers

If a rabbit doesn't trust you to pay your dues, they will never lend you money. If you are late making a payment, believe that a rabbit will expect to be paid interest.

Rabbits do well in business because they are very wise, give great advice when it is needed, and have the ability to bring people together. They are hard workers, but need a schedule to work and live by. They also do not enjoy working long hours because having time to enjoy their social life is extremely important to them.
