Qin Gang is a Tianjin native who was born in March 1966. In early 1988, Qin Gang, then 56, received his Bachelor of Law in international politics from the International Relations University. Qin Gang worked as a staff member for the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions after graduating.
Qin Gang Political Career
Prior to his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qin Gang served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2018 and 2021, and as Chinese Ambassador to the United States between 2021 and 2022.
In 1992, he began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Qin Gang later worked as Secretary and Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom from 1995 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, Qin was also the Deputy Director-General and spokesman at the Foreign Ministry Information Department.

One of the most popular theories surrounding Qin's disappearance is that he was having an extramarital affair with Phoenix TV reporter Fu Xiaotian.
A tweet posted by Fu Xiaotian in April is a major source of such speculation.

Or perhaps a corruption investigation?
The extramarital affair rumour has fueled speculation that Qin will be dragged into a corruption investigation as a result of Fu Xiaotian.
Fu's wealth is obvious, regardless of her relationship with Qin. On Chinese social media, there have been numerous allegations about Fu's ties to former corrupted officials and Chinese Communist Party-affiliated billionaire Lai Leong, a Hong Kong tycoon in the China energy business - a highly sensitive and political sector.
On July 17, when asked if Qin was being investigated because of his relationship with Fu Xiaotian, Mao Ning did not deny it but stated that she did not have any concrete information about the situation.
