Nicole Shanahan is an American attorney, entrepreneur and patent expert.
Shanahan - who made headlines after the Wall Street Journal reported that she had an affair with Tesla CEO Elon Musk while she was married to Brin — is a California-based attorney and founder of legal tech company ClearAccessIP and the Bia-Echo Foundation. It invests in those who are working to bring some change in the field of innovation and are addressing challenges like reproductive longevity and equality, criminal justice reform, and a healthy planet.

Sergey and Nicole met at a yoga retreat in 2016. She was, at the time, a patent lawyer and tech entrepreneur in her own right. Shanahan married Brin in 2018, after dating for two years. They welcomed a baby girl at the end of 2018.
Sergey was first married to entrepreneur Anne Wojcicki. They exchanged vows in May 2007 and had a son the following year and a daughter in 2011. They divorced in June 2015.

Shanahan has been raised by a single mother in a poor Oakland household. Her mother had emigrated from China. Nicole joined the ‘National University of Singapore’ to study global IP trade and Chinese law in 2013.
