Who is Joseph A Couch - Kentucky Shooting
Seven people were hurt when a gunman opened fire on cars on a Kentucky highway, creating what was called "a madhouse" of a scene. A manhunt is now underway for the gunman.
The shooting took place around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, near the small city of London, which is about 75 miles (120 km) south of Lexington.

The London Police Department asked people to share any information they had about where Joseph A. Couch, a 32-year-old white man from Woodbine, Kentucky, was. "Armed and dangerous" means that the man should not be approached by anyone.
But the police "have not determined that this is the person who fired the gun." Joseph A Couch has been named as a 'person of interest'.
When they got there, they saw chaos: nine cars going in both directions on the road had been shot at, and "five people were seriously injured." The victims were taken to a hospital to get help. Five people were shot, and two more were hurt in the car accident.
Couch is a white man who is about 5'10" and 154 pounds. He was arrested last month on charges of making terroristic threats but was free on a $1,000 bond. Couch is a veteran of the US Army, according to his social media pages.

A social media profile that claims to be Couch's says that he is a veteran of the US Army and lives in the Corbin, Kentucky area.
Terroristic Threats
He was arrested last month and charged with third-degree terroristic threats. He was given a $1,000 bond and released.

It's not clear what's going on with his case, but Kentucky has some of the laxest gun laws in the country. For example, you don't need a background check or a permit to buy a gun there.
Couch was also arrested in 2020 for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and not keeping up with his insurance.

Couch is a US Army veteran who lives in the Corbin, Kentucky area, according to his social media accounts. The picture on Couch's Facebook page has nothing to do with the alleged shooting.

Early reports say a gunman may have fired randomly at cars on the highway. A picture posted on social media that is said to be from the scene of the crime shows a car's back window being smashed by a bullet.
At a news conference on Sunday, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo of the Laurel County Sheriff's Office said, "When our first two units got there, they said it was a madhouse. People were lying on the sides of the road with emergency flashers going off, bullet holes, windows shot out, and nine vehicles shot."
Five people were shot, and Mr. Acciardo said that all of them are in stable condition, even though some of them have "very serious" injuries, like being hit in the face.
Two more people were hurt in an accident that the shooting caused.

In a video statement, London Mayor Randall Weddle said: "There are no deceased at this time. No one was killed from this, thankfully, but we ask that you continue to pray."
Several helicopters were sent to the scene, and trackers show that they stayed in the air over a wooded area near the highway for several hours on Saturday night.
Officers had to stop searching a remote wooded area overnight because it was too dark. They were going to start searching again when the sun came up on Sunday.
The searches and investigations are being done by up to 13 different agencies, including police and fire departments.
Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky told X that his office is "aware" of the active shooter situation and asked people to "please avoid the area."
