Operations are back to normal at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport on Thursday after a family fight turned into a shooting in the airport's busiest terminal on Wednesday night, injuring four people, one critically.

A fight broke out near the shopping and dining area of Terminal 4 at about 9:40 PM MST on Christmas night. Three people were shot and another was stabbed, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said the fight involved five people who knew each other, and one person pulled out a gun and started shooting. One of the victims had life-threatening injuries. The incident happened outside a security checkpoint near a restaurant on the terminal's third level.

"Officers were on the scene quickly because they are stationed at the airport," said Phoenix police spokesperson Mayra Reeson on Thursday afternoon.

Three people were arrested, including a person who heard there was an active shooter at the airport and came to the terminal with multiple weapons. Court records identified this person as 21-year-old Cole Elliott Nenon.
