A new token or new cryptocurrency, Squid Game (SQUID) — inspired by the eponymous Netflix show — has posted 86,000% growth in a few days after launching earlier this week. Over the past 24 hours alone, Squid Game ($SQUID) is up more than 400% and showing no signs of slowing down.

The coin has been created to allow people to play an online version of the hit Netflix show. A Binance Smart Chain project called SquidGame has created the SQUID token, promising users the chance to take part in online games based on the hit Netflix show. On the SquidGame website, the developers state plans for an interactive game where holders can stake SQUID tokens to take part in online games inspired by the Netflix show.

However, the global crypto community suspects the SQUID token inspired by the Netflix show “Squid Game” of being a huge scam.

“We have received multiple reports that the users are not able to sell this token in PancakeSwap. Please exercise caution while trading,” major crypto tracking website CoinMarketCap noted in a warning about the SQUID token on its website.

Amid SQUID’s mind-blowing growth coupled with reports on the inability to sell the token, some enthusiasts in the crypto community have alleged that the new coin is likely to be a scam scheme.

There have been countless promotions of the cryptocurrency through give-aways like "airdrops." The airdrop was reportedly promoted on YouTube (Reward 3,000 SQUID For 5,000 Random Users) on October 20, 2021.
