Unsurprisingly, the United States has retained its spot as the most powerful country in the world for 2021/22, according to an annual ranking by the CEOWORLD magazine, which is based on perceived power and influence. The report describes the U.S. as the “most dominant economic and military power in the world.” America also has a large cultural impact on the world because of how its popular culture is expressed in music, movies, books, and TV shows.

Some might say power is all about the political prowess of a nation, while others point out the strong military and defense system. However, the most powerful countries across the globe according to the CEOWorld Magazine 2021 report are the ones that constantly shape up the global economic policies and dominate the world through 7 attributes: political stability, economic influence, defense budget, country’s weapons, global alliances, soft power, and military strength.

China and Russia are the second and third most powerful countries. Next on the list are India, France, and Germany. The United Kingdom is two places down from Germany, just behind Japan at 8 and ahead of South Korea at 9. Israel ranks 10th on the list of the most powerful nations in the world for 2021. The bottom five are Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia.

9.South Korea

The ROK Armed Forces is one of the largest standing armed forces in the world with a reported personnel strength of 3,305,000 in 2020 (555,000 active and 2,750,000 reserve). South Korea has the world's tenth-largest budget and the ROK Armed Forces are ranked as the sixth most powerful military as of 2020, and 2021.

8.UK

US News calls it "a highly developed nation that exerts considerable international economic, political, scientific and cultural influence."

It also noted the country's vote to leave the European Union, and said this "ushered in anxiety about the country's role on the global stage."

7.Japan

US News calls it "one of the world's most literate and technically advanced nations."

6.Germany

Germany was also ranked 4th in 2019.

"Germany, he most populous nation in the European Union, possesses one of the largest economies in the world and has seen its role in the international community grow steadily since reunification," US News said.

5.France

France's position is unchanged compared to last year.

US News said: "It is difficult to overstate the influence France has on the world, both in the past and today.

"Located in Western Europe, France is one of the world's oldest countries, and its reach extends around the globe through science, politics, economics and perhaps above all, culture. Starting in the Middle Ages, France evolved through kingdom, empire and finally, into a republic. It was one of the first nations to champion the rights of the individual."

4.India

Home to 1.4 billion people, India "is the world's second most-populous nation after China, and has roughly one-sixth of the world's population."

3.Russia

Russia was also ranked 2nd last year.

The scale of Russia is difficult to imagine," US News said.

"It is the world's largest country by land mass – nearly twice as big as Canada, the world's second-largest nation – and covers all of northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe. It shares land borders with more than a dozen countries, and shares sea borders with Japan and the United States."

Also, known as one of the most populous nations in the world, China has a strong foothold over the global economy. The Asian country is a world leader when it comes to exports and hence all the products we see every day are labeled as “Made In China”. With one of the most powerful military bases, strong political influence the country also maintains good relations with other powerful nations making it a leader in all aspects.
