After two years of struggling with COVID-19, the film industry has had positive changes.

There have not been many successful titles because most of them have been delayed for release for too long. In 2023, fans have the right to expect a more exciting year with big-budget movies. Let's take a look at movies coming out next year to see what interesting about them and why they are expected a lot.

1. M3GAN

From the most prolific minds in horror—James Wan, the filmmaker behind the Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring franchises, and Blumhouse, the producer of the Halloween films, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man—comes a fresh new face in terror. M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

2. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Release Date: February 17

Fans of superhero MicroWorld Ant-Man will meet this character again in the second sequel which is also the third episode in the MCU's Ant-Man series.

As the name tells, the film will continue to dig deeper into the mysterious Quantum World where characters who survived the disaster Thanos used to go back in time in the 2019 Avengers: Endgame episode.

Kang The Conqueror is mentioned to be the main threat of this project, and with his ability to tamper with time, he is sure to create a series of arduous missions that Ant-Man and The Wasp need to solve together.

3. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Release Date: March 3

Adapted from the game franchise of the same name by Hasbro, the film with the participation of famous action movie actors such as Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page... was planned to be released in Summer 2021.

However it had to be postponed for 2 years due to COVID-19. The film will combine the elements of fantasy adventure and humorous material.

4. The Super Mario Bros

Release Date: April 7

Super Mario Bros has been postponed from the Christmas season of 2022 to the summer of 2023. The film story has not been announced. So far we have known that it features Chris Pratt, young star Anya Taylor-Joy and comedian Jack Black in the voiceover roles. This will definitely be an action comedy project that easily attracts viewers.

5.Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3

Release Date: May 5

It took six years for the Guardians of the Galaxy to return to the big screen in an indie film of their own. Director James Gunn will continue to return as the helm for this film along with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel... The filming started last November 2021 and ended in May 2022. Not much information has been revealed about the content, however, fans can soon meet these characters in the Thor: Love and Thunder.

6. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Release Date: June 2

The next episode of new Spider-Man chapter will arrive in the summer of 2023 after being moved from the release schedule twice in April and October 2022. In the trailer, it reveals that Mile Morales will continue to traverse the different Spider-Man universes and meet Jessica Drew - a Spider-Woman who used to work in the organization HYDRA and a better version of Miguel O'Hara-known by the nickname Spider-Man 2099.

7. Barbie

Release Date: July 21

Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing Barbie to life with its upcoming film.

Directed by Greta Gerwig, the film has been in the works for quite some time. Back in December 2016, Amy Schumer was originally attached to star, however, she later backed out of the film due to creative differences.

In January 2019, it was confirmed that Margot Robbie would be taking on the lead role of the iconic Mattel doll and in October 2021, Ryan Gosling joined the cast as Barbie's plastic partner, Ken.

Since then, there has been a lot of mystery surrounding the film. While Warner Bros. has released promotional images of Robbie and Gosling in character, the actual plot has been kept tightly under wraps.

The Barbie movie includes a number of big stars in the cast, including Robbie as Barbie and Gosling as Ken.

Will Ferrell will also be in the film, playing the CEO of Mattel. He spoke about his role in a Nov. 21, 2022 interview with the Wall Street Journal Magazine. "I get to play the CEO of Mattel and be that guy who's just insensitive but weird and then, not to spoil anything, but…. Anyway, that's what excites me," Ferrell said.

8. Blue Beetle

Release Date: August 18

Blue Beetle is an upcoming superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name. It will be the fourteenth installment in the DC Extended Universe and will be released on August 18, 2023.

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.

9. A Quiet Place: Day One

Release Date: September 22

The emerging horror franchise A Quiet Place will receive its first prequel movie next fall. The film does not have John Krasinski as director but will replace with PIG's Michael Sarnoski. As the name suggests, the project is said to be set in the early days of Earth when brutal alien creatures entered the atmosphere and spread obsession with the human world.

10. Kraven the Hunter

Release Date: October 6

Sony’s in a bit of a weird place when it comes to their Spider-Verse. While they had major hits like the Venom films and Spider-Man: No Way Home, their recent Marvel release Morbius didn’t do so hot at the box office and was panned by both critics and fans alike. Their next Spider-Verse release was going to be Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in just a couple of months. However, the film’s release has been pushed back from January 13, 2023, to October 6, 2023.

11. Troll 3

Release Date: November 17

A number of images which appeared not long ago at a film fair indicated that the sequel to the Trolls animated series produced by DreamWorks Animation will have a release date in 2023. Despite the limited information about the film, fans are still excited to expect the project as it is one of the rare movies in the animated-music genre that will be released next year.

12. Star Trek 4

Release Date: December 22

During an online event held in early 2022, Paramount Pictures suddenly announced the sequel to the Star Trek 4 space travel sci-fi series with the return of J J Abrams in the role of manufacturer. Noted director Matt Shakman, who has impressed with the Disney+ TV series WandaVision, will direct the film.

According to CBR, the studio is in talks with actors and actresses from previous series including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Simon Pegg to have them join in the new episode. Filming is expected to begin later this year.
