Co-Founder and CEO of Brex, the first corporate card of its kind for startups, is Henrique Dubugras. Henrique, a Brazilian businessman, founded Pagar.me, the Stripe of Brazil, when he was just sixteen years old. Pagar.me processed $1.5 billion worth of transactions in just three years.

Henrique sold Pagar.me in the fall of 2016 and enrolled in Stanford University. After eight months, he dropped out of school and founded Brex, which in its first 22 months raised $215M across three rounds of funding, becoming the U.S. business-to-business company with the fastest valuation of over $1bn.

Dubugras, 25, is the co-founder and CEO of the $7.4 billion valuation corporate credit card start-up Brex. Each of Dubugras and his 24 year old co-founder Pedro Franceschi is said to be worth $1.5 billion.

From teen coder to budding entrepreneur

At age 12, Dubugras began downloading programming books and other materials from the internet. By the age of 14, he had mastered the art of programming well enough to produce his own adaptation of the Korean role-playing game "Ragnarok," which Dubugras claims was well-liked in Brazil at the time.

The game that he independently coded was a blatant imitation of the one that he had initially made primarily for himself and his friends to play. However, as more and more people began to play, Dubugras claims he eventually made "tens of thousands of dollars" from in-game purchases before the Brazilian distributor of the original game issued a legal warning.

When he was almost 16 years old, Dubugras used the money from the game, along with his knowledge of coding, to launch his first start-up: an app that would guide Brazilian teenagers through the process of applying to colleges in the United States, providing advice on how to prepare for the SATs, write English essays, and obtain student visas.

Austin Russell

Country: United States

Austin Kingsley Russell, a businessman from Newport Beach, California, was born on March 13, 1995. He is the founder and CEO of Luminar Technologies Inc.

The youngest self-made billionaire is Russell. Russell gained notoriety after his company, Luminar Technologies, went public on the Nasdaq on December 3, 2020 through a SPAC merger, making him the planet's youngest billionaire at the age of 25 and worth $2.4 billion with a 35% stack.

Luminar was invented by optics prodigy Russell, who was only 17 years old and studying physics at Stanford University at the time. After receiving a fellowship from Peter Thiel in 2012 worth $100,000 to launch his own business, he left Stanford University. Austin Russell was born on March 13, 1995, and as of 2022, he will be 27 years old.

The business he founded while still in high school develops cutting-edge lidar technology essential to the creation of fully autonomous vehicles that can be reasonably priced for wide consumer appeal.

The value of Russell's investments in the high-tech sensor manufacturer, Luminar, which boasts a market cap north of $10 billion and trades at over 350x projected 2021 revenue, is the only factor contributing to his ascent to the billionaire ranks. If we pull back the curtain, Luminar reported a net loss of $94.7 million in addition to $12.6 million in revenue for the entire year of 2019. Then, in 2020, they brought in $15 million in revenue, but that was offset by $72 million in operating losses.

Austin was born on March 14, 1996—Pi Day—and raised in the renowned Newport Beach neighborhood of Orange County. His mother Shannon worked as a model and occasionally dabbled in public speaking, while his father Michael brokered commercial real estate.

In the sixth grade, his parents enrolled him at St. Margaret's Episcopal School in the hopes that the preK–12 private school would be able to offer a more demanding learning environment. Their wishes came true the following year when Mr. Dylan, a science teacher, assigned his class a project that required them to construct an earthquake-resistant structure. Austin's team triumphed over the challenge by working together and creating a structure that would actually withstand the force of recordable seismic activity using newly acquired math skills and architectural research.

In 2011, he wrote a libretto for the San Francisco Ballet. He has also written stage plays.

A team of 190 people, the majority of whom are in their 20s, work for Light Chaser Animation today, including several seasoned animators who were stolen from Pixar and DreamWorks Animation.
