The terrifying remnants of the vast Tranquille Sanatorium situated outside of Kamloops, British Columbia, resemble something from a horror film. Originally constructed in 1907 as a tuberculosis treatment facility, it later functioned as a mental health facility before being closed in the early 1980s.

Witnesses report unearthly paranormal activity, including orbs and unsettling disembodied moans, suggesting that the ghosts of its former occupants may still be present. You could take a tour of the eerie location, which is undoubtedly one of Canada's most haunted places, with a guide from Tranquille Farm Fresh, which currently manages the site, prior to the pandemic disrupting the 2020–2021 tourist seasons. In the gloomy tunnels connecting the different buildings on the premises, they even provided an escape room experience for those who were really brave or insane.

Originally built in 1888, this hotel is well-known for its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Banff National Park. It's also a good place to hunt for ghosts! A few guests and employees claim to have witnessed a spectral bride making her way up and down one of the marble staircases in the hotel. It's said that there are spirits in a few of the rooms that spook people and interfere with their ability to sleep.

Sam the Bellman, a more helpful ghost, is rumored to occasionally reappear to eerily assist visitors with their luggage because he loved his work so much! The Ghost Bride even received her own postage stamp and 25-cent coin in 2014, demonstrating how well-known the Banff ghosts are!

3. Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, Ontario

It has a ghost, of course, being the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes! Constructed from stone in 1908, the lighthouse continued to watch over Lake Ontario from the Toronto Islands. Its first lighthouse keeper is rumored to haunt it. Even though the lighthouse hasn't been in operation for decades, people have reported seeing lights there and hearing moaning noises coming from it.

Reasoner people explain that the light is probably the moon reflecting off the glass at the top of the lighthouse, and that the noises are probably birds, but those explanations aren't very scary.

4. Craigdarroch Castle, Victoria

Constructed in the 1890s for the coal miner Robert Dunsmuir and his kin, this mansion from the Victorian era has subsequently turned into one of Canada's most eerie locations. There have been many reports of sightings of a ghostly woman dressed in white and of a piano that plays on its own. Many believe that Dunsmuir's untimely death, which occurred only a year before the castle's completion, is the cause of its supernatural propensities.

Once the private home of industrialist Hart Massey and his family, the famed Keg Mansion on Jarvis Street in Toronto is now one of the many locations of the Keg steakhouse chain. According to legend, one of the maids committed suicide in 1915 after Massey's cherished only daughter Lillian passed away.

She was so overcome with grief. According to a different version of the story, the maid killed herself out of fear that her rumored affair with a Massey man would come to light. In any case, several Keg visitors have reported seeing the spectral image of a maid hanging by her neck.

Not every haunted location is an old building. Unusual sightings have occurred on an abandoned railroad track in the Saskatchewanian village of St. Louis. Where the tracks once were, a single light has been seen moving at night. In a project, two high school students investigated the possibility that the light was a visual effect from a nearby highway.

Though many people still prefer to think that the light is coming from a ghost train following its lost tracks, the girls won prizes at their science fair. There's even a ghostly postage stamp for the ghost train!

If we had spent countless hours and thousands of dollars building the opulent château, only to pass away a few days before it was finished, wouldn't we probably want to go back too?

Having played host to one of the most well-known battles in Canadian history, it should come as no surprise that it is among the most haunted locations in the country, with reports of ghostly soldiers appearing in the fields and tunnels.

We can't help but wonder if Wolfe and the French Major General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, who also perished in the battle, are still at odds with each other in spirit.
