Top 10 Simple April Fools Pranks for Kids at home
1. Bathroom Sink Surprise

Luckily, this mischief (i.e., different kind of waterworks) is more humorous than malicious. It's also very easy to pull off this prank: Just discreetly attach a small square of tape—duct tape is better than scotch tape, but it will still work—to the underside of the faucet to create an unexpected sprinkler effect.
2. Make chocolate chip cookies

Make chocolate chip cookies to celebrate April Fool's Day. Naturally, though, do not discuss April Fool's Day ahead of time. Mash potatoes for the kid-approved cookie recipe. Additives like black pepper that impart color to food should be avoided.
When you add a lot of canned black beans, they will perfectly resemble chocolate chips. Transfer heaping spoonfuls of the mixture to a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Give them to your child as cookies so they can sample and learn about the real taste.
3. Onion caramel lollipops
Take off a few onions' stems. Peel them and trim the ends to make them smooth. Stuff wooden craft sticks inside of them. Once the caramel is made, roll the onions in it. Using a spatula, spread the caramel evenly over the onion's surface. Transfer them to a baking dish and refrigerate to cool. When your kids bite into it with great anticipation, they'll find they don't enjoy it.
4. Upturned glass prank

Pour me a drink of water. A coaster should be placed over the top of the glass. Holding the coaster, turn the glass over. The coaster should be used to attach it to the glass. Keep the glass level and placed on the coaster. Immediately remove the coaster from under the glass and leave it there. When your child picks up the seemingly empty, upside-down glass, water will pour out of it. There might also be a note like "Happy cleaning, love mommy" attached.
5. Short Sheets

Yes, that tried-and-true camp favorite. The short sheet maneuver is a tried-and-true technique that can be finished at any time before "lights out" with just five minutes of clever folding. The top sheet is used to make the bed as usual; however, instead of tucking it at the foot of the bed, fold it back toward the headboard to create the "short sheet," which is simply a tiny sleep sack.
This one is best suited for slightly older kids because, let's face it, April Fool really isn't worth upsetting your toddlers' delicate bedtime routine.
6. Sleep Time Switcharoo

The night before April 1st, slip into your child's room and make a few changes that will surprise them when they wake up. Change the chair's position, dress the dolls in underwear, or even move dozing siblings into each other's beds. When they wake up, they'll be in for a ridiculous surprise, and they'll be ready for a happy and hilarious April Fool's Day.
7. Totally Buggin’

Even though this April 1st hoax is very old, it never gets old! Purchase a pack of plastic bugs and freeze them into ice cubes to frighten the kids with their cold drink. (You'll get extra disgust points if you use plastic roaches.) Another inexpensive thrill is to hide plastic bugs around the house where kids will squeal with joy when they find them.
8. Fake a Steak (With Faux Fries)

Present a dessert fit for a dinner! Slice a thick piece of chocolate ice cream off the carton, cover it with plastic wrap, and then shape it into the shape of a steak with your hands. Once the ice cream is solid, use a skewer to pierce it with lines to give the appearance of grill marks. Next, crumbs made from chocolate wafers are applied to the lines. For the fries, cut frozen pound cake into sticks using a crinkle cutter. Dredge in melted butter, then bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees, or until golden. Toss in the strawberry jam.
9. Shower shampoo prank

Try this when your young victim is taking a shower. As they start shampooing their hair, come in from behind with a bottle of shampoo in hand. Once your child has lathered their hair with shampoo and the shower has almost entirely removed the foam, apply more shampoo to their head from behind. When the shampoo eventually starts to irritate your child because it won't rinse off, try not to laugh.
10. The Sponge Cake

Does anyone in your family have a sweet tooth? This trick is perfect for them. Acquire some clean, fresh sponges and a container of frosting and sprinkles. (If you think your kid might be tempted to taste the fake treat, make sure to get natural sponges that don't have any cleaning solution or chemicals added.)
Next, assemble the sponges into a "layer cake," placing icing in between each sponge and adding another layer on top. Shake well, then allow someone to fork-eat a few pieces while it's still on the counter. They'll be astonished beyond belief when it hits the "sponge cake!"
11. Make a move while they sleep

Children who have trouble falling asleep will love this April Fool's joke. Sneaking in at night, you can rearrange their furnishings, swap out their comforter, or even switch your kids' beds. They'll awaken wondering precisely what transpired while they were sleeping!
12. Set up a balloon surprise

This April Fools' joke is sure to "wow" kids who love thrilling surprises when they wake up. Puff up balloons to make a pocket, then cover your child's door with multiple wide pieces of plastic wrap. Your child's door will open in the morning to the sight of a gigantic balloon explosion.
