Top 10 Coupes And Compact Cars - Cheapest In The World

As SUVs and CUVs gobble up the U.S. market and leave passenger cars in the dust, the search for a reliable, affordable and enthusiastic coupe has become a scavenger hunt, scouring the land for mere survivors of this mass extinction.

Gone are the days of tarted-up two-door variants of mainstream sedans. To make an affordable coupe into a successful and recognizable name in 2021 entails an enticing marketing campaign, the most current technology, and most importantly construction of a compelling and dynamic car. These ten coupes cost thousands less than the upscale two-doors they compete with on the highway and serve twice the style and attitude. We have Top 10 Coupes And Compact Cars - Cheapest In The World here.

10. Audi A5 quattro Coupe - $44,200

As you’ll well know, the Audi A5 has spawned a whole new family of models since its initial launch back in 2007. Despite essentially being a coupe-ified A4 saloon itself, at certain points during the A5’s time on this earth there’s been the convertible – naturally – as well as the four-door Sportback and both S and RS versions of all three body styles.

So, where does that leave the standard A5 Coupe? Well, now in its second generation (and with newly facelifted cars set to hit UK roads soon) Audi has cut back the engine and gearbox options and is instead going all in on trim levels and tech – a decision that’s indicative of the A5’s character. More on that later.

Today, engine options for the A5 Coupe are as follows: the 2.0-litre four-cylinder 40 TFSI is the sole petrol engine and puts out 187bhp and 236lb ft of torque, whereas diesels come in the form of a 161bhp 35 TDI and a 187bhp 40 TDI.

There’s no more manual gearbox option either, and you can only have quattro four-wheel drive if you spec the more powerful diesel engine.

In terms of trim levels, though, there’s the standard ‘Sport’, the even sportier ‘S line’, the supposedly stylish ‘Edition 1’ and the fully-loaded ‘Vorsprung’, Topgear cited.

9. Infiniti Q60 PURE RWD - $40,750

Relationships that rely heavily on looks alone don't typically last, and the 2021 Infiniti Q60 is a beauty that does nothing to upend that paradigm. The Infiniti coupe's bodywork is both graceful and muscular, which make it one of the prettiest models in a class that also includes the Audi A5 and the polarizing BMW 4-series.

While the brawniest Q60 makes 400 horsepower, every version features a strong twin-turbo V-6 and either rear- or all-wheel drive. Unfortunately, there's no manual transmission and the driving experience is less exciting than we expect from a sporty two-door.

We're especially averse to its optional adaptive steering system, which communicates as well as a spurned lover. Those who want a useable back seat and practical cargo space will prefer the Infiniti Q50 sedan. Still, the 2021 Q60 is a better value than many of its peers; that and great looks make its lack of sportiness easier to forgive.

8. BMW 230 RWD Coupe - $34,950

The 2021 BMW 2-series delivers everything we love about BMW's sporty driving dynamics in a handsome, well-priced package. Offered in both hardtop coupe and softtop convertible body styles, the 2-series is a compact sports car with plenty of compelling traits. The 230i model is powered by a 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, but upgrading to the M240i swaps in a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes a stout 335 horsepower.

Rear-wheel drive is standard, but BMW offers its xDrive all-wheel drive system as an option on both models. If you're looking for more practicality, you might find that one of this car's four-door rivals—such as the Audi A3, the Mercedes-Benz A-class, or even BMW's own 2-series Gran Coupe—fits the bill, but the 2-series coupe and convertible will be the choice of those who value driving verve over day-to-day usefulness.

7. Nissan 370Z Base (M6) Coupe - $29,990

For its 50th year of Z-car model production, the Nissan 370Z soldiers on into a new decade at $29,990, a fraction of the cost of competing models (of which there are few). The 370Z is a tightly-wrapped confection that has ripened well, currently in its twelfth year of production without a redesign.

It remains one of the most thrilling drives in a coupe for $30K. Creature comforts and modern tech fancies not your style? The 370Z “eschews all of that in favor of an engaged driver,” according to Car & Driver. That is purism in practice, a novel remark for any sports car and a great reason to consider the 370Z as an affordable coupe.

6. Subaru BRZ Premium (M6) - $28,845

The standard features of the Subaru BRZ Premium include 2.0L H-4 205hp engine, 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), side seat mounted airbags, curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, airbag occupancy sensor, air conditioning, 17" aluminum wheels, cruise control, ABS and driveline traction control, electronic stability.

This one is almost a double-entry: though it is mechanically twinned with the Toyota 86, the Subaru BRZ gets the edge (and is one of the best affordable coupes on the market) because of its near-perfect blend of power, handling, efficiency, and price - it undercuts the Toyota by $860, coming in at $28,845.

The 2.0-liter, flat four-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine produces 205hp and whips the BRZ’s 2,789lb body around break-neck corners with deft agility thanks to its deliciously low center of gravity and a standard six-speed manual transmission suiting it for fun in all seasons.

5. Dodge Challenger SXT RWD - $28,095

The standard features of the Dodge Challenger SXT include Pentastar 3.6L V-6 305hp engine, 8-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), side seat mounted airbags, curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, automatic air conditioning, 18" aluminum wheels, cruise control, ABS and driveline traction control, electronic stability, 6 way power driver seat.

The Challenger is big and heavy, but also fast. Adaptive dampers on top-shelf models help the coupe navigate corners, but its best life is screaming down straightaways.

The Challenger’s age shows in available safety equipment, but all coupes get at least a 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Base Challengers also get power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Pricier versions sub in an 8.4-inch touchscreen, 20-inch wheels, adaptive dampers, performance data pages, and leather upholstery.

The Challenger’s prolific speed has an equally prolific thirst. The thriftiest coupes manage 23 mpg combined, while SRT Hellcats rate in the teens for fuel economy, according to the EPA, Thecarconnection cited.

4. Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback - $27,155

It’s not without a sense of irony that the sound you make by sucking air through your teeth is the same as the induction noise made by theFord Mustang 2.3-litre High Performance, as well as being the first thing you do any time anyone asks you what the turbocharged pony car is like.

From the outside, the Twister Orange coupe ($650 option, one of ten choices) at least looks the part of the iconic American sports car.

The profile of the long bonnet, swooped turret and little kick-spoiler on the rear deck, is supported by the vertical-slat rear lights, split by the ‘Pony’ motif on the blackout trim panel, and a wide-set and unique grille, to impart from any angle, the timeless apeal that only the Mustang can deliver.

There are 19-inch alloy wheels, creases, scoops, vents and even ground-effect-style skirts to complete the package. Grey highlights on the bonnet, mirrors and rear deck are a no-cost option, and the badging is unique to the High-Performance model, Caradvice noted.

3. Toyota 86 Base (M6) - $26,655

The Toyota 86 is a compact sports coupe aimed at people who want affordable performance. Toyota initially introduced the 86 under the Scion brand as the FR-S for the 2013 model year. However, as Toyota has dropped the Scion brand, the FR-S was reintroduced to the market as the Toyota 86 for the 2017 model year. It is still in its first generation.

The 86 is fun to drive with agile handling, which is balanced by good fuel economy. The Toyota 86 is a 4-seater vehicle that comes in 3 trim levels. The most popular style is the Automatic, and comes with a 2.0L H4 engine and Rear Wheel Drive. This 86 is estimated to deliver 21 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.

2. Chevrolet Camaro 1LS Coupe - $25,000

At $25,000, falling right into the middle of starting MSRPs on this list, the Chevrolet Camaro is a smart and snappy choice for an active and aggressive daily-driver or a spirited and energetic weekend getaway-chaser. When the Camaro was re-introduced to battle the market-monopolizing Ford Mustang, it attained several years of successful sales and ushered in yet another wave of retro design language; it even won World Car Design of the Year when introduced.

To refocus and take back the ground lost to numerous competitors in the years since 2009, the 2019 Camaro is more modern and nuanced than it was previously. The fenders and front fascia were redesigned for a rounded, sleeker look, diverting from the retro muscle that the previous angular boxes conveyed.

1. Honda Civic EX (CVT) Coupe - $21,750

The standard features of the Honda Civic EX include 1.5L I-4 174hp intercooled turbo engine, 2-speed CVT transmission with overdrive, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), SmartVent side seat mounted airbags, curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, airbag occupancy sensor, automatic air conditioning, 17" aluminum wheels, cruise control, distance pacing, ABS and driveline traction control, VSA electronic stability.

Civic sport variants are notorious speed demons, and many have the critical support to back it up. The Honda Civic Si Coupe starts at $24,300 and neatly packs a 1.5L turbocharged four-cyliner engine with over 200hp into a tiny little engine bay, wrapping it up in a lightweight and incredibly well-engineered body.

As one of the best-selling cars in the U.S. the redesign of each new generation of Civic is extensively researched and tested and this most recent iteration was a smash. This is the coolest Honda Civic design the world has seen in a long time, if not all of time, and the Si edition is a delicious performance cherry on top of a coupe that is a real winner.
