Pardee UNC Health Care is a non-profit healthcare organization founded in 1953 that is managed by UNC Health Care. It is the first hospital in the Carolinas to receive the International Organization for Standardization's ISO 9001:2008 accreditation, a mark of excellence for healthcare.
They are the second-largest employer in Henderson County with over 1,500 team members and are licensed to provide 222 acute care beds. Among our locations outside of our main campus are our six orthopedic clinics, four urgent care centers, and an extensive physician practice network.
The original Patton Memorial Hospital was situated on Hendersonville's Highland Avenue and was the forerunner of Pardee Hospital. Patton Hospital opened its doors in 1913, with a staff of five doctors and a capacity for 26 patients.
On November 15, 1953, patients were moved to the newly constructed Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital. With the addition of 70 beds in the new hospital, the medical staff grew to include 26 physicians and 4 dentists.
At the moment, Pardee Hospital employs 222 acute care beds, 156 providers (APPs) representing 27 allied health fields, and 366 physicians representing 52 medical specialties.
Everyone in need of healthcare can receive it from Pardee, regardless of their financial circumstances. Although Henderson County owns the hospital, it does not receive any funding. The charitable gift-receiving body of Henderson County Hospital Corporation (dba Pardee Hospital) is the Pardee Hospital Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization.
Hundreds of people donate money, time, passion, expertise, and admiration to the Pardee Hospital Foundation in support of the care they and their loved ones receive there. During the fiscal year 2021 (July 2020–June 2021), the Pardee Hospital Foundation gave $1.9 million to Pardee UNC Health Care, raising more than $43.9 million since 1998.
